Chapter 33 Two Beauties
"I see now." James nodded at Linda, then smiled and said, "If he dares to approach you, just inform me and I will handle the situation for you."
"How would you handle it?" Linda paused for a moment upon hearing James' words, then couldn't help but chuckle helplessly.
From Linda's perspective, James seemed incapable even of even solving basic sustenance issues at the moment, let alone managing a situation like this.
"Yes, I will take care of it," James assured her firmly.
"Let's not worry about it; it's not a big deal. Besides, I highly doubt that Mr. Martinez of Lumina City's even knows my whereabouts, so there should be no concern." Linda politely declined, mindful of James' pride.
"Alright then, if you ever need any assistance, feel free to contact me," James calmly stated.
"Alright." Seeing James so enthusiastic, Linda simply nodded before returning to enjoying her barbecue.
After a while, Linda suddenly glanced at James and softly inquired, "James, why don't you consider moving in and residing with me?"
Upon hearing this, James, who had been sipping his Coke, was taken aback and accidentally spurted out the drink.
His expression turned one of pure surprise as he gazed at Linda.
"You want us to cohabit?" James’s eyes widened and his voice quivered.
"To live together?" Linda blushed upon hearing James, then chided, "James, what are you thinking!"
"I noticed that your living space is rather inadequate, while I happen to have a spare room in my abode. I thought you could move in and share the space with me, thereby saving on rent expenses."
"Alright," James responded, somewhat disappointed to hear Linda's reply.
"And since I devote most of my time to streaming, leaving little time for household chores, if you were to move in, perhaps you could help clean up the place—consider it your contribution towards the rent. How does that sound to you?" Linda softly inquired, looking at James.
To be honest, Linda wasn't asking for any financial contribution from James. Her words were merely out of concern that James might feel hesitant to move in.
Observing Linda's flushed cheeks, James did feel a hint of emotion. However, with his current engagement, the notion of cohabiting with another woman didn't sit well with him.
Moreover, James preferred to keep his trillion dollar inheritance a secret. If he were to reside with Linda, his wealth would likely be exposed sooner or later.
"Linda, I appreciate your kindness, but considering our circumstances as two single individuals, sharing a residence might not be ideal." James declined after contemplating for a moment.
"Are you worried that I might take advantage of you?" Linda's expression became decidedly contemptuous as she spoke.
"Not in the least. I am more concerned about taking advantage of you, given your exceptional figure and my youthful impulses."
"Furthermore, as you are a live streamer, there could be complications should your online audience discover that you live with a man." James smiled as he spoke.
Observing James' lack of inclination to move in with her, Linda chose not to continue the conversation.
Half an hour later, James returned to his room.
Although he had declined the offer to live with Linda, he felt a tinge of regret.
"It's all Laura's fault. If it weren't for her, I'd be sharing a bed with a beautiful woman by now," James cursed in frustration.
With his newfound wealth, James believed that if he lived with Linda, he could easily win her over in due time. However, his engagement prevented him from entertaining thoughts of other women.
Nevertheless, Linda's words had left a slight impression on James.
Now that he was affluent, there was no need to stay in his shabby rented apartment. He could effortlessly buy a villa in Lumina City and indulge in a sports car.
As James envisioned his future purchases, he drifted off into a dream.
The following day, at 9 a.m., James was abruptly awakened by a ringing phone.
Glancing at the screen, he noticed that it was Charles calling and promptly answered.
"James, are you on your way to Moonlight Garden?" Charles asked softly.
"I completely forgot about this. I'm on the way there now." James had been preoccupied fantasizing about how to expend his wealth that he had forgotten about his meeting with his fiancée today.
After concluding the call, James hurried out without even brushing his teeth, as Charles hadn't arranged for transportation, as his fiancée was unaware of James' true identity.
Thus, James had to hail a taxi to the Moonlight Garden, a distinguished Michelin three-star restaurant in Lumina City, known for its high prices and frequented mainly by the city's affluent residents.
Meanwhile, in a private room at Moonlight Garden, two women sat chatting on their smartphones in anticipation of someone's arrival.
One of the women, who appeared to be in her early twenties, donned a white dress and exuded youthful charm, likely still pursuing her studies.
The other woman, equally striking and slightly older, possessed flawless features that needed no improvement, her skin seemingly touched by perfection. Around twenty-five years old, she boasted an alluring figure accentuated by her black professional attire.
"Cousin, how did you suddenly get a fiancé all of a sudden? I was unaware of it." the younger woman blinked her curious eyes and inquired.
"I just found out about it recently," the professional woman replied helplessly.
"You truly are pitiable, cousin, to get a fiancee out of the blue—were it me, I'd find it difficult to accept."
"Nevertheless, since I'm here today, I intend to verify if this individual is truly worthy of my cousin. If not, I won't consent." The younger woman pouted softly, speaking gently.
"What does it matter if you don't agree? This is our family's decision, and I have no power to oppose it," the professional woman murmured.
"If you disapprove of the person later, I'll speak to my uncle. My cousin is exceptional and shouldn't be wed off lightly." the younger woman stood defiantly with her hands on her hips.
Upon hearing this, the professional woman couldn't help but smile lightly and softly spoke, "Alright, let's not solely focus on me. Yesterday, you seemed unhappy, what happened?"
"Laura, I'd rather not delve into that. Every time you bring it up, I feel irritated." the younger woman pursed her lips.
"What happened?" the professional woman smiled softly.
"Yesterday afternoon I was walking to the Lumina University to meet a friend, and I got bumped into. His head ended up straight on my chest, not just once but twice. I sensed it was intentional!"
"Pressed against you?" the professional woman inquired with a smile.
"Far worse. His head collided with my chest twice. I felt it was deliberate!" the younger woman pouted and continued, "Later, my friend informed me that he was a poor delivery boy. I was infuriated, but I couldn't reveal the incident to my friend—a girl like me being taken advantage of by someone like him. So, I let it pass. Just the thought of it makes me indignant!"
"I see." the professional woman nodded with a smile.
"I've disclosed this matter to you, cousin. Please do not share it with others. It's too embarrassing!" the younger woman hastily remarked.
"Do not fear. I will keep your secret." the professional woman smiled gently.
