Chapter 433 Drunk Linda
In no time, Laura and Lily vanished from James's view.
Watching Laura leave, James felt a gaping hole in his heart, leaving him feeling empty.
It hit him then—he'd fallen in love with Laura for a long time.
James stood there, staring blankly at the spot where Laura had disappeared.
He wanted to chase after her, beg her to stay, but he knew she wouldn't forgive him now.
So, he just stood there, looking lost in the bustling lounge.
After what felt like forever, the manager who had brought James into the lounge earlier walked up to him and said softly, "Mr. Smith, are you planning to stay here? "
James slowly turned his head to look at him, sighed lightly, and walked out of the lounge.
The manager watched James's back, puzzled, having no clue what had just happened.
After leaving the airport, James wandered the streets alone, his mind replaying memories of Laura.
Time passed, and as the night fell, James headed back to his rental apartment.
Just as he was about to enter his room, he heard the sound of high heels clicking behind him.
He turned around and saw Linda walking towards him.
"James, what are you up to?" Linda asked with a smile as she approached.
"Nothing," James replied indifferently, then looked her up and down and asked, "Aren't you streaming anymore? Seems like you've been out a lot lately."
"What else can I do if I don't stream? Some friends from my hometown are visiting, and one of them has a birthday coming up. They want me to rent a villa here in Lumina City for a party, so I've been house hunting these past few days," Linda explained with a smile.
"How's the search going?" James asked after a moment.
"Not great. Either the location's too far, or the price is too high. I've been looking for days but haven't found a good one." Linda pouted.
James smiled helplessly at her words.
He remembered he had a villa with a nice environment, not far from his rental place, which he rarely used.
"Wait here a sec!" James called out to Linda, then walked into his room.
Linda stood there, puzzled.
James quickly found the key to his villa and returned to the living room. He said softly to Linda, "I have a villa that's been empty for a while. The environment's nice, and it's close to the city. If you want to host a birthday party, you can use it."
Linda was stunned, her face filled with disbelief. She couldn't help but give James a once-over, then asked, puzzled, "Really?"
"Of course! Why would I lie to you?" James replied casually.
"Where'd you get the key to this villa?" Linda asked, curious, not thinking James could afford a villa.
"I bought it!" James answered without hesitation.
Linda stared at him for a moment, then laughed dismissively, "Stop joking. How could you afford a villa? Is it your friend's place?"
"Think whatever you want," James replied, not wanting to explain further.
"How much is the rent? I'll check it out tomorrow, and if it's suitable, I'll book it and pay you the rent," Linda said seriously.
"Forget the rent. My friend doesn't need the money," James replied, then asked softly, "By the way, do you have any alcohol in your room?"
"Alcohol?" Linda was taken aback.
"Yeah, I'm not in a good mood today and want to drink. Do you have any?" James repeated.
"I haven't bought any recently, but if you want to drink, I can order some along with some food. I'll drink with you to thank you for lending me the villa," Linda said with a smile.
James hesitated for a moment, then said, "Okay."
Laura's departure had left James in a bad mood, and he could only think of numbing himself with alcohol.
Linda took out her phone and ordered some food and beer.
James sat quietly on the living room sofa, watching TV while waiting for the delivery.
Although James hadn't told Linda his story, Linda could sense he was down. Normally, James would chat with Linda, but today he was unusually quiet, focusing intently on the TV, even during commercials.
Linda knew something must have happened to James, but she didn't ask.
After about twenty minutes, the delivery arrived.
Linda took out the skewers and beer she had ordered and placed them on the table.
James didn't say much, just picked up a beer and started drinking.
At that moment, James had only one thought: to drown his sadness in alcohol.
Seeing James start drinking, Linda hesitated for a moment, then picked up a beer and started drinking with him.
Neither of them spoke, each drinking their beer.
Linda knew that if she asked James what had happened now, he wouldn't tell her, so she planned to wait until he was drunk to ask.
But Linda underestimated James's alcohol tolerance. After half an hour, Linda had drunk about five or six beers with James, and her face was starting to flush, her head feeling dizzy.
James, however, seemed unaffected, quietly drinking his beer.
"James, why... why are you drinking today? Did something... happen?" Linda, her emotions affected by the alcohol, asked hesitantly.
"Are you drunk? If you are, go rest," James said, looking at Linda's flushed face.
"I'm... I'm not drunk..." Linda waved her hand, then wobbled towards James on her long, slender legs.
