Chapter 71: I'll Prove It to You
About half an hour later, the class bell rang.
As James was now a junior, he didn’t have a full day of classes. After this lecture, he was done for the day.
Usually, after class, students would be in a hurry to leave, either heading to lunch or back to their dorms.
But today, none of them left, and the atmosphere was tense and strange.
James quickly packed up his things to leave, but just then, Elbert Michael and several other boys close to him blocked James at the door.
"James is in big trouble today!"
Paul said, his tone serious as he watched this scene unfold.
The other students all looked at James, eager to see what would happen next.
Although Janet’s earlier appearance had interrupted Michael, Elbert, and others' interrogation of James, but clearly, they had no intention of letting James off the hook.
James’s remarks were indeed very harsh before, essentially ruining Ashley’s reputation completely.
After packing up his textbooks, James walked directly toward the classroom door.
But Elbert stood there, blocking James's way, looking at James with cold eyes, clearly ready for a confrontation.
"Move aside!"
James looked up at Elbert and said with a blank expression.
"You want me to move aside?"
After hearing James's words, Elbert just sneered, then said in a low voice, "James, you owe us an explanation."
"For what?" James asked calmly.
"For insulting Ashley. You need to clear things up with everyone. If you just walk away today, Ashley's reputation will be tarnished by your slander, so you must explain yourself today!" Elbert shouted with a righteous tone.
James couldn't help but smile when he looked at Elbert.
Elbert truly was loyal to Ashley.
While Ashley was willing to sell her body for a mere fifty thousand dollars, Elbert was still this devoted to her. James thought this was quite amusing.
"Look, Ashley begged me to sleep with her; that's a private matter between us; it has nothing to do with you, okay?"
In the past, James might have been afraid of Elbert. After all, knowing his tough personality, James wouldn’t want to escalate things. However, James wasn’t the same person anymore, and he surely was not as weak as before.
James’s words clearly stunned Elbert because this matter, indeed, had nothing to do with him.
Elbert could now tell that the James standing in front of him seemed like a completely different person.
If it had been the old James, he would have been trembling with fear before Elbert even started speaking, let alone talk back like this.
The students in the classroom also noticed James’s change, looking at him with a strange look.
"Yes, this matter indeed has nothing to do with us, but as Ashley's friends, we can't just stand by and let you slander her like this. So today, you must explain yourself to us. Otherwise, you will kneel down and apologize to Ashley!"
Before Elbert could say anything, Michael stepped forward and shouted at James. James turned to look at Michael, knowing that Michael was actually the mastermind behind today's events and wanted to take the opportunity to get back at him.
"Elbert, Michael, what are you two doing blocking the classroom door? School's out; let everyone go," James was about to speak when Donna suddenly walked over, standing beside James, her expression excited as she shouted at Elbert and Michael.
Upon hearing Donna's words, Paul and Tyler quickly walked up to Elbert, exclaiming, "Elbert, this has nothing to do with you. It's James and Ashley's private matter; let them sort it out themselves. It's ridiculous for you to be blocking them here."
James was deeply moved to see these three people speaking for him. Regardless, there were still three people in the class willing to help him.
Seeing Tyler, Paul, and Donna standing up, Elbert's demeanor became less aggressive. He hesitated, looking towards Michael beside him.
After a moment of hesitation, Michael addressed Donna, "Donna, what you said is not right. We're just holding James back, not letting him leave. Anyone who wants to leave can leave now!"
"Why do you have the right to stop James?" Donna glared.
"As I said earlier, what James said has had a significant impact on Ashley, so today James must explain this to everyone. Otherwise, Ashley will be in a difficult position," Michael said calmly.
"Donna, you don't need to waste your time with these people!" James interrupted Donna, then looked at Michael and asked, "Do you want me to explain now?"
"Exactly. If you can prove that what you said earlier is true, I'll let you go. If you can't prove it, you'll have to apologize to Ashley and slap ypurself. Otherwise, you won't be able to leave here today!" Michael's tone was threatening.
In fact, Michael was intentionally making things difficult for James because he knew that regardless of whether Ashley had willingly slept with him or not, James couldn't produce any evidence. If James couldn't provide evidence, he would have to apologize to Ashley on his knees.
Apologizing to a girl in front of so many people was the ultimate humiliation for a man. Michael wanted James to understand that anyone who opposed him would be in trouble.
Jennifer sat next to Ashley, her face full of disdain because she knew that today James only had one choice: to kneel down and apologize to Ashley. Otherwise, Michael and the others would never let him go, even with the class monitor speaking up for him.
"If I can prove that what I said earlier is true, you'll let me go, right?" James asked Michael gently.
"Yes, if you can prove that what you said earlier is true, we'll let you go," Michael nodded gently.
"Alright, then I'll prove it to you right now!' James smiled, then turned to look in Ashley's direction and softly called out, "Ashley, tell everyone now, is what I said earlier true?"
Upon hearing James's words, the students in the class were momentarily stunned, then everyone burst into laughter. Even Michael and Elbert couldn't help but smile because they thought James's current actions were undoubtedly suicidal.
Ashley was the victim in this matter. Even if Ashley had actually wanted to sleep with James, she couldn't admit it now when James asked this question in front of the whole class.
