Chapter 314 James's True Identity
Conrad slowly turned his head to look at Willie, asking in disbelief. "So this Mr. Reed is real?"
"Of course it's true. I've met Mr. Reed so many times. Do you think I would lie to you?" Elmer replied expressionlessly.
Upon hearing Elmer's words, Conrad was so shocked that he almost fainted. If Joe hadn't reacted quickly and caught him, Conrad would have fallen to the ground.
Conrad took a deep breath, hurried to Willie, and spoke humbly, "Mr. Reed, I'm so sorry. I thought you were an imposter earlier, which is why I spoke to you in that tone. I sincerely apologize!"
"It's okay, it's okay!" Willie, aware of Conrad's relationship with James, couldn't show his displeasure and simply smiled in response.
"I'm really sorry, I apologize!" Conrad's words became increasingly incoherent as he continuously apologized to Willie.
Floyd and Kirk stood to the side, their expressions extremely awkward, as they never expected Conrad to know someone as important as Willie.
Although Kirk and Floyd were already considered quite influential compared to the other guests, they were nothing in front of Willie and his associates.
Once Willie's identity was confirmed, the identities of the others naturally didn't need further explanation.
Conrad was now extremely busy, continuously apologizing to the various big shots, his expression exceptionally tense.
Any one of these people was someone Conrad couldn't afford to offend. The thought of making them wait at the door terrified him.
Elmer, standing beside Conrad, had also changed his attitude towards him, now fully aware of James and Conrad's relationship.
Moreover, more people with equally impressive identities kept entering the restaurant.
The small business owners from Willowbrook no longer dared to sit inside, quickly standing up to offer their seats to the big shots.
As these people entered the restaurant to wish Conrad a happy birthday, Conrad's expression became increasingly ecstatic. He never dreamed he would see a day like this.
All the notable figures from Riversong Province had come to celebrate his birthday. What an incredible honor!
The Hall Family members were all dumbfounded. Zachariah, Joe, Isolde, Thalassa, and Dorian stood there, mouths agape, finding it all too unbelievable.
"Are all these people really here because of James?" Elowen stammered.
"Who exactly is this James? How does he have such influence?" Thalassa was filled with curiosity. She had initially thought she could rely on her boyfriend Leander to suppress Laura's arrogance.
But she never imagined that James, who looked like a poor loser, could wield such influence!
Rufus sat there, gritting his teeth, his brows furrowed.
He had always been the pride of the Hall Family, extremely self-assured, believing that anyone his age couldn't surpass his achievements.
But today, James's appearance had slapped Rufus in the face.
Rufus was unwilling to believe that James could have such powerful influence and refused to admit that James was a thousand times better than him!
"Mr. Hall, do you know where Mr. Smith is?" Willie had come mainly to curry favor with James, so after wishing Conrad a happy birthday, he naturally wanted to find James to build a good relationship.
"Are you all here because of James?" Conrad still couldn't understand the relationship between James and these people, so he replied softly.
"Dad, what are you talking about? How could these big shots be here for James? How could that poor loser James know these people?" Thalia suddenly shouted.
But as soon as Thalia finished speaking, Willie and the others turned to her with terrifying expressions.
Seeing their looks, Thalia quickly took two steps back, hiding behind Conrad.
"Miss, please watch your language!" Willie sneered, scolding her expressionlessly.
"If it weren't for Mr. Smith, why would we be here?"
"Yeah, if it weren't for your connection to Mr. Smith, I would have broken your leg for what you just said!" A burly man with a fierce look shouted, glaring at her.
Thalia knew very well what these people were capable of and that they weren't joking. Terrified, she took two more steps back, her face filled with fear.
"Mr. Reed, please don't be angry. Thalia spoke out of turn." Conrad's face changed dramatically as he quickly pulled Thalia aside, awkwardly explaining.
Willie glanced at Thalia indifferently, then looked at Conrad and asked, "Conrad, we are all here for Mr. Smith. If we don't see him, we won't be satisfied."
Conrad looked at Willie, stunned, and was about to speak when Elmer chimed in, "Conrad, I'm also here for Mr. Smith."
"You're here for James too?" Conrad was puzzled by Elmer's words, unable to understand the connection between Elmer and James.
"Didn't my son Irvin offend Mr. Smith yesterday? Besides wishing you a happy birthday, I came to have Irvin apologize to him."
Elmer, now certain of James's true identity, saw no need to hide his real purpose.
Conrad stood there, stunned, his eyes filled with shock, his lips trembling slightly.
He never imagined that Elmer had come to have his son apologize to James. He had been worrying about how to explain to the Hays Family and get Elmer to forgive James.
But now he realized his worries were unnecessary. James didn't need his help at all!
The Hall Family members finally understood why James had said he didn't need to apologize to Irvin last night.
Because to James, the Hays Family was nothing!
