Chapter 20 Laughing at Poverty, Not Prostitution

"Brian, we'll pay!"

Ashley trembled at Brian's words, stuttered a reply, and then quickly pulled out her phone to make a call.

Meanwhile, Sandra shrunk to the side, also reaching out to contact her friends.

Although Ashley and Sandra came from decent backgrounds, they hadn't reached a point of affluence yet.

Hence, fifty thousand dollars was a significant sum for them to gather.

Ten minutes later, the two had reached out to all their friends on Facebook but found no one willing to lend them money.

"Ashley, what do we do now? My friends refuse to help me," Sandra said with a quiver in her voice, on the verge of tears.

"I don't know what to do either; my friends won't assist me," Ashley responded with a furrowed brow and a helpless tone.

After a moment of hesitation, Sandra whispered, "Ashley, I heard from Donna today that James recently won the lottery, which is why he had money to treat everyone yesterday. Why don't you call him and ask for a loan?"

"We humiliated him yesterday; he may not be inclined to lend us money," Ashley hesitated.

"Since we can't find anyone else now, let's give it a shot."

"Alright."

Ashley reluctantly nodded and dialed James's number.

Meanwhile, in the classroom, upon seeing Ashley's call, James immediately understood the situation and disconnected the call.

Undeterred, Ashley called James again.

"Who is this?" James questioned the caller in a distant tone.

"It's me, James. I need a hundred thousand dollars now; can you lend it to me?"

Although Ashley had a disdainful opinion of James, she found herself without any options at this moment.

"Why should I lend you money?" James responded coldly.

Upon hearing this, Ashley froze momentarily, then gritted her teeth and retorted, "James, didn't you just break up with Jennifer? If you lend me the money today, I'll consider being your girlfriend. You know I'm just as attractive as Jennifer, and my figure is even better."

"You want to be my girlfriend?" James couldn't help but chuckle before teasingly adding, "I believe you're not up to my standards."

"James, don't overdo this! You just won the lottery! I'm sure I can match up to you!" Ashley retorted angrily.

"Alright, I won't waste any more time with you. Here's the deal: I can come and help you, but on one condition - you'll spend the night with me. How's that?" James said leisurely.

"You…" Hearing this, a flush spread across Ashley's face; she hadn't expected James to be so shameless.

"I'll give you half a minute to consider; after all, talk time is quite pricey!" James said with a cold demeanor.

Holding the phone, Ashley couldn't help but glance towards where Kevin was seated. She now had to make a choice between Kevin and James.

While James might lack wealth, he was decent-looking and had a strong physique from his continuous delivery work, exuding a rugged masculinity.

Given the choice, Ashley preferred James between the two.

Sleeping with him for one night was better than falling into Kevin's hands.

Yesterday, she insulted Kevin verbally. If she were to go with him, there would be no guarantee about what he's do.

After weighing her options, Ashley reluctantly uttered, "Alright, James, I agree."

Upon hearing this, James promptly hung up the phone, feeling a mix of emotions.

A while back, Ashley had humiliated him endlessly, yet now, for a hundred thousand dollars, she had agreed to spend the night with him.

In this era, people really ridicule the poor but do not ridicule those without morals.
