Chapter 410 Trying to Run Away, Are You?
Rosalind, who had been crouching on the ground sobbing, was stunned when she heard James's words, her face filled with disbelief.
She had no idea what James was talking about!
"Yeah, Rosalind, you drive away now, and I'll handle the rest!" James repeated.
Right now, James didn't want to reveal his identity in front of Rosalind, so he had to get her out of there first. Once she was gone, he'd take care of the sports car.
"But I crashed this sports car. How are you going to explain it to the owner?" Rosalind asked, totally confused.
The onlookers around Rosalind, upon hearing James's words, also showed disdainful expressions.
"Young man, now is not the time to play hero. Do you know how much this sports car is worth?" A middle-aged man in a suit stepped forward and shouted at James mockingly.
"Yeah, I heard this sports car is a limited edition Ferrari, worth at least over ten million dollars. Now this girl has crashed it, and the damage is so severe, it will cost at least a million dollars to repair. Do you have that much money to help her pay?" A middle-aged woman also shouted.
"Young people these days are really reckless. Just to show off in front of a girl, he dares to boast that he can handle it. What are you going to use to handle it?"
Seeing James's shabby appearance, and knowing the Ferrari's high value, the crowd believed James couldn't afford the repair costs and began to mock him.
James, hearing the crowd's ridicule, turned his head and glanced at them indifferently but didn't argue.
Instead, he turned to Rosalind and said, "Rosalind, you should leave quickly. I can definitely handle the rest."
"James, I really appreciate you standing up for me at this moment, but I know this car is very expensive, and the repair costs are very high. You can't afford it, so you should leave quickly." Rosalind thought for a moment and directly refused James.
Rosalind felt that James standing up and saying these things meant he didn't realize how serious the situation was.
In Rosalind's eyes, James was just a poor student, and it was normal for a poor student not to know how expensive this sports car was.
James, hearing Rosalind's words, was momentarily speechless and didn't know how to explain. But he knew Rosalind refused because she didn't want to drag him into it.
"Rosalind, I can really handle this. You should leave quickly!" James didn't want to waste words and directly pulled Rosalind up from the ground.
"James, what are you doing? Let go of me."
Rosalind struggled desperately when James grabbed her arm.
James ignored Rosalind. He knew that even if he explained, Rosalind probably wouldn't believe him.
So he had to make Rosalind leave quickly, and then he could drive the sports car away.
James dragged Rosalind to the BMW, opened the door, and practically shoved her inside.
"James, what are you doing? I already told you, you can't handle this. Why are you showing off? Do you know how much this car is worth? If the owner comes and asks you for money, what will you give them?" Rosalind, sitting in the BMW, shouted at James, clearly upset.
James hesitated for a moment after hearing Rosalind's words, then said softly, "Rosalind, to be honest, this sports car belongs to my friend. If he comes and finds out you crashed his car, he will definitely ask you to pay. You know how expensive this car is, and you can't afford the repair costs. So you should leave quickly!"
"What about you if I leave?" Rosalind asked James, puzzled.
"When my friend comes, I'll tell him I crashed the car. My friend knows I don't have money, so he won't hold it against me. If you don't want to go bankrupt over this, you should leave quickly," James said seriously to Rosalind.
Rosalind finally understood what James meant and asked softly, "James, if I leave now, you really won't get into trouble, right?"
"Why would I lie to you? I don't have the money to pay for the repair costs, and my friend knows my situation. He won't ask me for the money, at most he'll just scold me!" James replied with a smile, then added, "Getting scolded versus you going bankrupt, which do you think is better?"
Rosalind looked at James, feeling deeply moved.
After hesitating for a moment, she said softly, "James, thank you so much for today!"
"No need to be polite with me." James smiled at Rosalind, then closed the car door.
Rosalind, believing James's words, thought that if the sports car really belonged to James's friend, then James could indeed handle it.
And the repair costs of a couple hundred thousand dollars were something Rosalind couldn't afford, so she hesitated for a moment, thanked James again, and then started the car.
Seeing Rosalind start the car, James finally breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Rosalind left, the rest would be easier to handle.
"Hey! What are you two doing? Trying to run away?"
But before Rosalind could drive away, two security guards rushed towards them.
Seeing the security guards, James panicked and shouted to Rosalind, "Rosalind, drive away quickly, what are you waiting for?"
"Stop right there, neither of you is leaving today!" The security guards shouted after hearing James's words.
