Chapter 144 A Chance Encounter with Laura
At 8 PM, the bar started to get crowded.
Under the dim lights, well-dressed men and women twisted their bodies wildly on the dance floor to the deafening music, releasing their youthful hormones.
Although it was still early, for those who loved nightlife, this was just the beginning of their exciting evening.
Since the bar had recently opened, all the staff members were newly hired, resulting in their efficiency being far lower compared to James's.
Three people together couldn't do as much as James alone.
"James, can you take these bottles to private room number eight for me? I need to go to the restroom!"
A seductive-looking waitress winked at James and said sweetly.
This waitress, like James, was also working part-time here.
"Brenda, I've helped you so many times. How do you plan to thank me?"
James took the beers from the waitress's hands and smiled.
"I know you're the best to me. I'll treat you to dinner once I get my paycheck," the waitress said with a flirtatious smile.
"Alright, I won't keep you. I need to go to the restroom!"
The waitress patted James on the shoulder and then swayed her hips as she walked towards the restroom.
James carried the beers to the door of private room number eight and gently knocked.
"Who is it?"
A man's voice quickly came from inside the room.
"Waiter, delivering drinks!" James replied loudly.
"Come in!"
Hearing this, He quickly pushed open the door and walked in.
"What's going on with you? I ordered these drinks a while ago. Why are they just arriving now? Are you even running a business?" A stylishly dressed young man shouted impatiently at James.
"Sorry, sir. Our bar just opened recently, and we're a bit short-staffed. I hope you can understand!" James quickly explained.
He had already encountered several similar situations earlier, so he didn't take it too seriously this time.
""What a terrible bar. I will never return!"
Seeing that James's attitude was sincere, the young man didn't make things difficult for him and muttered under his breath.
"Mr. Diaz, calm down. The drinks are here now. No need to get upset with him."
A beautiful woman sitting next to the young man quickly smiled and tried to calm him down.
James walked to the booth, intending to set down the beers.
However, in that very moment, a woman who had been engrossed with her phone on the sofa suddenly glanced up at James and exclaimed in surprise, "James? What are you doing here?"
Hearing this, James quickly looked up and saw Laura sitting on the sofa with a surprised expression.
James looked at Laura in front of him, equally shocked.
He hadn't expected to run into Laura at the bar.
Laura was dressed very sexily today, wearing a white spaghetti-strap dress with a fabric that draped beautifully. It had a slit on the side like a cheongsam, revealing her long, fair legs. She wore white high-heeled sandals, looking both sexy and elegant, like a goddess.
Laura was just as surprised as James.
In fact, she didn't like going to bars, but her cosmetics company had recently run into some financial issues.
Mr. Diaz, who had just spoken to James, was interested in investing in Laura's company, so she had come to Stellar Lounge with them to discuss the contract.
But she hadn't expected to run into James here.
And James was working as a waiter.
Laura gave James $20,000 a month for living expenses, which should be more than enough if he wasn't extravagant. She couldn't understand why James was working here as a waiter.
"Laura, do you know this guy?" Mr. Diaz turned and asked Laura with a smile.
"Yes."
Laura didn't want these people to know that James was her fiancé, so she replied awkwardly.
"Laura, how do you know someone like him?"
"Yeah, how do you know a waiter from a bar?"
Everyone looked at Laura in confusion after hearing her response.
After all, Laura's family, the Hall Family, was quite prominent in Lumina City.
Laura had always been a goddess-like figure, someone others saw as unattainable. It seemed highly unlikely for her to be acquainted with someone like James, who came from a lower socioeconomic background.
Hearing their words, James couldn't help but blush. Even he felt a bit embarrassed, let alone Laura.
To prevent James from being further humiliated, Laura quickly shouted at him, "James, what are you standing there for? Put the beers down."
He set down the beers and then turned to leave the room.
"Laura, as the eldest daughter of the Hall Family, you should avoid associating with people like him. They won't help your career and might even bring unnecessary trouble. When making friends, you should consider their abilities and character," After James left, an older young man said to Laura with a smirk.
"Yeah, I think he's right. We should befriend people like Mr. Diaz, who are young, wealthy, and talented!" a girl quickly chimed in.
Donovan smiled contentedly at the girl's flattery.
Laura hesitated for a moment, then said softly, "Mr. Diaz, I need to use the restroom."
"Alright."
Donovan nodded at Laura.
Laura walked out of the room in her high heels and saw that James hadn't gone far. She quickly called out, "James, wait a minute!"
James turned to look at Laura and asked softly, "What do you need?"
Laura walked up to James, looked him over carefully, and asked in confusion, "Why are you working here as a waiter?"
Hearing Laura's question, James felt a bit annoyed, especially considering her earlier attitude towards him. He replied coldly, "We agreed not to interfere in each other's personal matters. Whether I work as a waiter or not is none of your business."
Laura sneered at James and, remembering Nancy's claim that she saw James with another girl, said expressionlessly, "You must be using the money I give you to hook up with other girls, right? Now that you've spent it all, you're working here, aren't you?"
James was taken aback by her words and frowned, "Is that why you came out here?"
"Of course not!"
Laura shook her head and said softly, "Someone recently bought a villa for me at Harmony Realty Group. Was that you?"
