Chapter 188 Terry's boss?
"Mr. Murphy, don't be mad. Look who I brought!" Timothy grinned, pointing at James tied up inside the factory.
Yancy glanced inside and froze when he saw James tied to a chair. His cigarette dropped to the ground.
"Mr. Murphy, I know you have issues with this guy, so I grabbed him for you. No one else is here, so you can..." Before Timothy could finish, he suddenly felt like Yancy had shrunk a few inches.
Yancy's legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees. Michael and Jennifer were stunned, their faces blank.
"What the hell is going on?" Michael stammered, baffled by Yancy's reaction.
"Mr. Murphy, why are you kneeling? Did this guy scare you that much?" Timothy still didn't get it and tried to help Yancy up.
"Get away from me!" Yancy roared at Timothy, then crawled to James. "Mr. Smith, I had nothing to do with this! I don't know why these idiots kidnapped you. It wasn't me. Blame them, not me!"
Yancy's face was pale, and he was babbling.
Michael, Timothy, and Jennifer stood there, shocked.
They never expected Yancy to be so terrified of James.
"What the hell is going on?" Jennifer asked, wide-eyed.
She had expected Yancy to deal with James harshly, perhaps even break both his legs. But she never imagined Yancy would react this way upon seeing James.
Timothy, still confused, stepped forward. "Mr. Murphy, this guy has nothing to do with Janet. I checked. Why are you scared of him?"
"Get away from me! Do you know who Mr. Smith is? Do you know his background? Are you crazy, kidnapping him?" Yancy shouted, his voice hoarse.
He was cursing Timothy in his mind.
When Timothy had called earlier to say he had a "surprise" for Yancy, Yancy had no idea it would turn out to be a nightmare. It nearly gave him a heart attack!
Yancy had thought that by returning his shares of the bar and personally overseeing things at Cynthia's place, James might eventually forgive him. But who could have predicted that Timothy and Michael would bring James back like this?
Yancy was now in deep agony.
"Mr. Smith?" Timothy looked confused.
"When did James become Mr. Smith?" Jennifer whispered.
"Timothy, are you out of your mind? Do you even know who James is? He's the chairman of our company and Terry's boss. You're so screwed for kidnapping Terry's boss!" Yancy yelled as he rushed to James and started untieing him.
"He's Mr. Campbell's boss?" Timothy was stunned for a moment, then blacked out and collapsed.
Michael's legs started shaking. He knew exactly who Mr. Campbell was—there was only one in Lumina City!
If Terry was a force to be reckoned with in Lumina City, then James must be even more terrifying as Terry's boss. The thought was almost too much to bear.
Jennifer stood there, dizzy with shock. She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that her lowly ex was now the boss of someone as significant as Terry.
"Mr. Murphy, you must be joking, right?" Timothy knelt, trembling, and whined at Yancy.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Yancy shouted, eyes wide.
Timothy was completely dumbfounded. Yancy's reaction made it clear he wasn't joking.
"It's over. I'm really done for this time," Timothy muttered, trembling on the ground.
Michael and Jennifer stood there, speechless.
A few seconds later, Yancy untied James and respectfully asked, "Mr. Smith, how do you want to deal with these three? I can call my guys right now. Break their legs or throw them in the river?"
Michael dropped to his knees. People like Yancy and Terry were untouchable, even for Michael's father. He knew if James nodded, Yancy would have him thrown in the river.
"Mr. Smith, please, I'm begging you, let me go," Michael pleaded, trembling.
James looked at Michael coldly, his expression calm. But that one look made Michael wet his pants.
"Michael, to be honest, I've always seen you as insignificant, just a worthless nobody. I've never taken you seriously. But you keep pushing my buttons, thinking I won't retaliate? Do you really think it's smart to get me riled up? What's it gonna do for you?" James shouted, his tone icy.
"James, I really know I was wrong. Please give me a chance. I'm begging you," Michael pleaded bitterly.
James hesitated, then grabbed Michael's hair and said coldly, "From now on, don't ever let me see your face again. Got it?"
"I understand," Michael nodded quickly.
"Get lost," James said calmly.
Michael scrambled out of the factory, leaving a trail of urine behind.
Timothy wanted to say something to James, but James, having no deep hatred for him, simply said, "You get lost too. Don't let me see you again!"
"Thank you, Mr. Smith. I'll leave right now!" Timothy said with relief, then left the factory.
Now, only James, Yancy, and Jennifer were left.
Jennifer stood there, dumbfounded, staring at James in disbelief.
