Chapter 299 Conrad's Birthday Banquet

Although the name Willowbrook sounds a bit cliché, it is indeed a developed metropolis.

Willowbrook not only had its own downtown area, but its level of development was on par with Lumina City.

However, because Willowbrook usually kept a low profile, not many people had actually heard of it.

To date, Willowbrook had produced no fewer than ten billionaires, each worth over a billion dollars. Most of these wealthy individuals chose to return to Willowbrook to retire after stepping down from their careers.

Laura's grandfather, Conrad, was one of them, and Irvin's grandfather, the previous head of the Hays Family, was another.

It was precisely because of the return of these wealthy individuals that Willowbrook's economy had developed rapidly, even rivaling major cities like Lumina City.

Today was a big day for Willowbrook.

The head of the Hall Family, Conrad, was hosting his 80th birthday banquet!

Almost every somewhat famous businessman in Willowbrook would attend the banquet and bring gifts for Conrad.

Moreover, Conrad had many siblings who were also well-known businessmen across the country, so some guests were here for them as well.

Conrad had two brothers, Kirk Hall and Floyd Hall!

Although Conrad was somewhat famous in Willowbrook, he was still far behind his two older brothers.

Both Kirk and Floyd were billionaires.

As for the current Hall Family, only Joe had made some progress in recent years; the rest were not worth mentioning.

In a large family like the Hall Family, more people often mean more disputes.

10:00 AM.

The hotel hosting the birthday banquet was already bustling with people. In the hall, there were some scattered guests, who generally were not of high status and came early to curry favor with Conrad.

The real VIPs would arrive when the banquet officially started!

James followed Laura, Joe, Isolde, and others into the hall.

When James entered the hall, he found that most of the Hall Family members were already there. Some were in the kitchen checking the dishes, while others were in the hall greeting guests, creating a lively atmosphere.

"Laura, you and James stay here. I'll go help your dad."

Isolde said softly to Laura after entering the hotel.

"Okay!" Laura reluctantly agreed.

Isolde glanced at James, frowned, and said, "James, stay here and don't embarrass me, got it?"

"I got it."

James glanced at Isolde and replied softly.

"I shouldn't have brought you here."

Isolde snorted coldly, then walked away with her bag, smiling and calling out, "Mrs. Smith, you're here!"

Although Laura's family didn't live in Willowbrook, Isolde was from Willowbrook, so she was very familiar with the guests in the hall.

Joe also started mingling with guests he knew.

James turned to look at Laura, about to speak, but before he could, Laura walked away and found a quiet place to sit.

James knew Laura was still upset about last night, so he smiled helplessly and walked over to sit beside her.

In no time, more than an hour had passed.

"Kirk is here!"

At this moment, Dorian suddenly shouted and ran towards the hotel entrance.

Thalassa, Elowen, Reid, and others followed Dorian.

"Who is Kirk?"

Seeing Dorian so excited, James couldn't help but ask Laura softly.

"Kirk is my grandfather's brother. He visits our family quite often."

Laura explained lightly.

"Why don't you go greet him?"

James asked with a smile.

"Dorian and the others are enough; I won't go."

Laura said softly.

"Oh!" James nodded lightly, saying no more.

A few minutes later, Dorian and the others helped an elderly man, about the same age as Conrad, into the hotel hall. The old man had a kind smile, giving off a friendly vibe.

"Aren't you going to say hello?"

James asked Laura softly.

Laura hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and said softly, "I'll greet Kirk later when I get a chance."

"Alright then."

James nodded helplessly, saying no more.

Because there were so many guests at the banquet today, Kirk naturally didn't notice James, Laura, and the others sitting aside.

In no time, the hall was filled with many guests, most of whom were dressed in luxurious clothes, clearly not ordinary people.

At such a banquet, the seating arrangement of guests is quite particular.

The more distinguished the guest, the closer they sit to Conrad, while those of slightly lower status sit further back according to their seniority.

Kirk, being Conrad's brother, naturally had a status that couldn't be compared to the other guests, so he sat directly next to Conrad, chatting and laughing with everyone.

But soon, a commotion arose in the hall.

Everyone turned to look at the entrance.

A burly, stern-looking old man with white hair walked into the hall, followed by a handsome young man.

"Why is Floyd so late this time?"

Kirk pouted and shouted when he saw the old man, his tone tinged with dissatisfaction.

"Floyd has always been like this, taking his time with everything..."

Conrad didn't mind, smiling as he walked towards Floyd.

Unlike Kirk, Floyd didn't greet the other guests upon entering the hall but walked straight towards Conrad.

"I didn't expect Rufus to come too!"

Laura didn't focus on Floyd but stared at the handsome young man beside him with her bright eyes.
