Chapter 139 Does He Dare to Get Up?
In University of Lumina, at the classroom door, countless students surrounded James, Michael, and Elbert, many of whom were from other classes.
These people knew that James was a poor delivery guy, but they didn't understand why Elbert was kneeling in front of James.
Michael, seeing Elbert actually kneeling to James, looked very uncomfortable, unsure whether he should kneel as well.
Had Michael and Elbert foreseen the outcome, they would never have dared to falsely accuse James, even if their lives were at stake.
At this moment, they were filled with regret!
The instigator of this whole incident, Ashley, however, looked indifferent.
She watched Elbert kneeling in front of James with a calm expression.
Ashley had warned them not to mess with James, but they didn't listen. Now that things had escalated to this point, there was nothing Ashley could do.
Jennifer hurried to Michael's side, shouting loudly at him, "Michael, don't kneel to James! I don't believe James can really get you expelled today! Your dad knows people in the education department; call them over quickly!"
If Jennifer hadn't said those words, Michael might not have knelt to James for the sake of his dignity.
Upon hearing Jennifer's words, Michael didn't hesitate for a moment. He immediately dropped to his knees with a resounding thud in front of James.
Everyone gasped in shock when they saw Michael kneel, their eyes filled with deep astonishment.
No one could have imagined that Michael, a well-known rich kid at the University of Lumina, would kneel in front of a poor delivery guy like James.
This was something straight out of a TV drama.
Even Jennifer was shocked, unable to understand why Michael suddenly knelt to James.
Jennifer might not know that the only reason Michael got into the University of Lumina was because his father pulled strings and gave out favors to get him in. If Michael were to be expelled now, there was a real possibility that his father might subject him to severe physical abuse, or at the very least, his life would become unbearably miserable.
So, in his panic, Michael knelt in front of James.
The surrounding students, seeing Michael kneel, began to discuss among themselves.
"Why is Mr. Brown kneeling to someone like James?"
"Yeah, I remember a few days ago, Mr. Brown was with James' girlfriend at a hotel, and James caught them. What's going on today?"
Several students from the neighboring class asked in confusion.
"You guys don't know? Michael and Elbert framed James as a thief, and the principal found out. Now they're apologizing to James!" A girl from James' class cautiously replied.
"So that's what happened!"
"I can't believe Michael and Elbert were so shameless to frame James as a thief. That's really despicable."
"Yeah, James may be poor, but you can't bully him like that!"
Everyone started siding with James, criticizing Elbert and Michael.
Michael sank to his knees, gritting his teeth, his face flushed with shame. He had never experienced such a profound sense of humiliation in his entire life.
"Michael, why are you kneeling to James? Get up!"
Jennifer couldn't accept what was happening, shouting at Michael in agitation.
"Jennifer, stay out of this. Go do whatever you need to do!"
Michael felt that he had already suffered enough humiliation and didn't want Jennifer to exacerbate the situation further.
"Why? You're my boyfriend; of course, I care about you!"
Jennifer shouted at the top of her lungs.
"I was wrong to frame James, and I promised to apologize by kneeling. Just go!" Michael shouted helplessly.
"You..."
Jennifer looked at Michael, her eyes filled with confusion.
She couldn't understand why Michael, who was always proud, would willingly kneel to James.
"James, make Michael get up!" Jennifer turned and shouted at James.
"Who are you? Why should I listen to you? Besides, he chose to kneel himself!" James replied coldly.
"You're shameless!"
Jennifer was so angry at James that she didn't know what to say, glaring at him.
"I'm shameless?"
James couldn't help but laugh coldly, not wanting to engage with Jennifer any further.
He looked at Michael and Elbert and said, "You two stay kneeling here until 7 PM. If I find out you left early, you'll face the consequences!"
"I understand!" Elbert quickly replied to James.
Michael remained silent.
"Alright, let's go!"
James called out to Paul and Sarah, then turned to leave the school.
"James, stop right there!"
Jennifer saw James leaving and quickly grabbed his arm.
"What do you want?"
James asked calmly.
Jennifer shouted angrily, "James, don't assume that you can do as you please just because the principal supports you. Let me make it clear, someone like Michael is not to be trifled with. I strongly advise you to release him immediately, or you'll live to regret it for the rest of your life!"
"Even if I let him up now, he probably wouldn't dare to stand," James replied playfully.
"You..."
Jennifer was trembling with anger, pointing at James. "James, don't think I don't know why you're doing this. You're just upset because I'm with Michael, and you want to get back at him."
James looked at Jennifer and smiled helplessly, not knowing what to say.
"James, let me tell you, when I broke up with you and chose to be with Michael, it wasn't because Michael took me from you. Do you know why I chose Michael?"
James remained silent.
"Because to me, you're a complete loser. I saw no hope in you, a poor delivery guy who couldn't make me happy. Do you understand?" Jennifer shouted harshly, not considering James' feelings at all.
James continued to look at Jennifer calmly, finding her words laughable.
James wondered if Jennifer would still have the guts to say such things if she knew his true identity.
