Chapter 417 Get Out of the Sales Office!
Before Marc's hand could connect with Pamela's face, James swooped in and grabbed Marc's wrist.
Marc froze for a second, then turned to face James.
"Who the hell are you? Let go of my hand right now!" Marc barked at James, his eyes blazing with anger.
"What kind of man hits a woman? If you're so tough, why don't you try me instead?" James shot back, his voice dripping with authority.
Pamela's eyes lit up with surprise when she saw James. She hadn't expected him to step in for her.
The employees in the sales office started murmuring among themselves.
"Isn't that the rich kid from yesterday?"
"Yeah, what's he doing here again?"
"If it weren't for him, Pamela wouldn't be in this mess. How does he have the nerve to show up?"
Despite their disdain for Marc's actions, the employees blamed James for the whole situation. They thought he was the reason Pamela was being bullied and resented him even more.
Marc turned back to James, his face expressionless. "I told you to let go of my hand. Didn't you hear me?"
"Apologize to Pamela now, and I'll let you go." James growled, his voice low and steady.
"Who the hell do you think you are? What does it matter to you how I handle my employees?" Marc snarled at James.
"Mr. Smith, this has nothing to do with you. You should leave now!" Pamela said hurriedly, her voice tinged with worry.
"I said, apologize to Pamela now, and I'll let you go. Got it?" James repeated, his tone calm and unwavering.
Marc hesitated, then glared at James. "Do you know who I am?"
"I don't care who you are. Even if you're God, you're apologizing to Pamela today." James's face remained calm, unfazed by Marc's bluster.
"Who the hell do you think you are? I'm not apologizing. What are you gonna do about it?" Marc sneered, thinking James was just another one of Pamela's admirers.
"What can I do about it?" James smirked at Marc's challenge.
Seeing things were about to escalate, Pamela rushed to James and whispered urgently, "James, I know you're trying to help, but please, don't make a scene. I really can't handle it!"
Pamela knew James wasn't the same person he used to be. Though he hadn't explained everything to her, she sensed something big had happened. Otherwise, his funds wouldn't have been frozen by the bank.
Pamela was worried that if James kept pushing, things could get dangerous, and she might even lose her job.
"Kid, you better be smart and let go of my hand, or you're gonna regret it!" Marc snarled at James, his face twisted with anger.
Marc didn't see James as a threat at all. After all, he was the manager of the sales office and the nephew of Cecil Murray, the new vice president of Harmony Realty Group. With that kind of backing, Marc felt untouchable.
"James, this guy's uncle is the vice president of our company. We can't mess with him. Please, just let him go." Pamela pleaded with James, her voice filled with anxiety.
James didn't know who Marc's uncle was, but Pamela did. Cecil Murray had a tight relationship with the chairman of Harmony Realty Group and was notorious in Lumina City. He had a bunch of goons working for him and was known for handling violent evictions. No matter how stubborn the holdouts were, they always caved when Cecil got involved.
Real estate companies dreaded these holdouts, and Cecil had a knack for dealing with them, which is why the chairman made him vice president. Marc got his manager position thanks to his uncle's influence.
Pamela had been putting up with Marc's bullying because she knew she couldn't stand up to him or his uncle. She didn't want James to get into trouble with them either.
If James were still the same guy he used to be, Pamela would have been thrilled to see him take on Marc. But things had changed.
"Is this guy nuts? He's actually standing up to Marc!"
"Yeah, he must be out of his mind. First, he pretends to be a rich kid and says he'll buy all the houses, and now he's playing hero. He's asking for trouble."
"He has the nerve to show up here. If it weren't for him, Pamela wouldn't be in this mess."
The employees started whispering among themselves.
After hearing Pamela's plea, James took a deep breath and slowly released Marc's arm.
When James had grabbed Marc's arm, it felt like a vice grip. In less than a minute, Marc's arm was already aching.
"Kid, you made the right choice. If you apologize to me now and get out of here, I might let this slide."
Marc sneered, thinking James had backed down because he was scared after learning who he was dealing with.
