Chapter 390 Get Rockefeller Back!

James stared at Charles, feeling totally floored by what he was hearing.

"Who would've guessed Willard went through all that crazy stuff? Those Rockefeller people are seriously shady!"

James let out a sigh, still looking at Charles.

"Good thing Willard got lucky and didn't let those jerks win!" Charles said, clearly angry.

Back in the day, those traitors tried to take over Rockefeller by planting a bomb on his plane, forcing him to jump out mid-flight.

There were parachutes on Willard's private jet, but he wasn't exactly a skydiving pro. He got serouly injured when he landed. And when the traitors found out he survived, they even hired hitmen to finish the job. So, Willard had no choice but to lay low in the countryside.

Willard had no clue who sold him out, so he couldn't trust anyone. He was stuck abroad with no friends and, with his injuries, couldn't find work. He ended up begging just to get by.

That's when Laura stumbled upon a nearly dead Willard in Lumina City and used her allowance to buy him a plane ticket.

That's why Willard left that will for James, making him marry Laura.

"But I still don't get what Willard wants from me." James hesitated, then asked Charles.

"When Willard got back to Rockefeller, he found out those traitors had taken over. He was broke, and all his loyal execs had been fired. Rockefeller wasn't his anymore, and he couldn't fight back. In the end, he had to make a deal. He traded all his shares in Rockefeller just to stay alive!"

Charles paused, then went on, "They finally agreed. They took his shares, and Willard left Marigoldia for Phoenixia on his own."

"In Phoenixia, Willard made a comeback with some help from friends. That's when I met him and worked as his secretary for fifteen years!"

"Willard's life has been one wild ride..."

James sighed, looking at Charles.

"Yes, when he was young, the Edwards family pushed him out, so he went to Marigoldia and started Rockefeller. But who would've thought that over a decade later, he'd lose it all? Then he fled to Phoenixia and built another empire just as big as Rockefeller!" Charles said slowly.

"So now, which is bigger, Rockefeller or the Golden Peak Group that I got?" James asked, curious.

When James inherited everything, Charles told him Willard was the richest man in the world. But now, James wasn't so sure if Willard was as loaded as the Rockefeller Foundation!

"Of course, Rockefeller is more powerful!" Charles shot back without hesitation.

"If Rockefeller's so powerful, then why'd you say Willard was the richest man in the world?" James asked, puzzled.

"Well, Willard was the richest because he had more tangible assets. Rockefeller's got shares in tons of big companies, but those shares don't count as personal assets. The companies Rockefeller controls are top-tier and spread all over the globe," Charles explained.

"Willard's company, now your Golden Peak Group, mainly operates in Phoenixia and Serendara, with little presence elsewhere. So, in terms of funds and influence, Golden Peak isn't on Rockefeller's level," Charles continued.

"So, even with Willard's estate, I'm still not as big as Rockefeller?" James asked, trying to wrap his head around it.

"Pretty much." Charles nodded.

"Who's running Rockefeller now?" James asked, curious.

"Originally, it was Willard. But after he left, Rockefeller didn't have a single boss. It's run by three people now, Willard's old subordinates, known as the Rockefeller Three Elders," Charles explained.

"That's why, even though Rockefeller's bigger, Willard was still the richest man. Rockefeller doesn't belong to just one person," Charles added.

"So, these Three Elders control Rockefeller?" James asked softly.

"Yes, Rockefeller's got a clear hierarchy, like a pyramid. The Three Elders are at the top, then there are nine people below them, called the Nine Kings. Below the Nine Kings are more people, forming a huge network that controls Rockefeller and its core companies," Charles patiently explained.

"Three Elders and Nine Kings?" James shook his head, smiling. It all sounded like a bad joke, but he knew Charles wasn't kidding.

"Yes, those twelve are the real shot-callers at Rockefeller." Charles nodded.

"Whatever, Rockefeller's not mine anyway. After all this, I still don't get what you're trying to tell me," James said, frowning.

"Mr. Smith, it's simple. I want you to take Rockefeller back from these people!" Charles said bluntly.

"Take Rockefeller back?" James stared at Charles, eyes wide with shock. It sounded too crazy to be real.

"You've got to be kidding, right? Even Willard couldn't take it back. How am I supposed to do it?" James asked, feeling overwhelmed.
