Chapter 141 The Aloof Beauty
"Teacher Carter, do you need something?" James quickly answered the phone.
"James, if you're done with school stuff, head to the bar right away. My friend there has a bit of a temper, and if you're late, she'll definitely be upset!" Janet gently reminded James.
"I almost forgot about that!"
Hearing Janet's words, James suddenly remembered he was supposed to work part-time at Janet's friend's bar.
"Then you better get going. I'll hang up now!" Janet replied casually and then hung up the phone.
After putting away his phone, James softly said to Paul and the others, "You guys go watch the movie. I suddenly have something to do!"
"James, what do you mean by this? Sarah and I have been waiting for you for so long, and now you're saying you can't go!" Evelyn said in a very annoyed tone.
"Yeah, James, Sarah has been waiting for you for so long. Can't you handle your stuff another day?" Paul also seemed a bit helpless as he tried to persuade James.
"I promised Teacher Carter earlier that I would work part-time at her friend's bar. They're about to open, and it wouldn't be good if I didn't go!" James seemed a bit embarrassed as he replied softly.
"What kind of part-time job is that? It doesn't even pay much," Evelyn pouted and said.
"If James has something to do, let him go."
Paul knew this part-time job was important to James, so he hesitated for a moment and then spoke up for him.
"I'll treat you guys to a movie another time!" James replied lightly and then walked away.
Sarah observed James as he walked away, a trace of confusion evident in her eyes.
She couldn't understand why someone like James, who came from a wealthy family, would need to work part-time at a bar.
After parting ways with Paul and the others, James walked to the roadside and hailed a taxi.
The taxi slowly stopped, and James opened the door and got in.
"Driver, I need to go to..."
"Are you feeling comfortable?"
Just as James was about to tell the driver his destination, he suddenly heard a woman's voice from behind.
He was stunned for a moment and quickly turned around, only to freeze in place.
As he entered the car, James had been preoccupied with looking back at Paul and the others, causing him to overlook the situation inside the vehicle. Consequently, he remained oblivious to the presence of another person already inside!
At this moment, James was sitting on the lap of a beautiful woman with fair skin!
James looked at the beautiful woman behind him with an extremely embarrassed expression. He could even smell the faint fragrance emanating from her neckline.
The beautiful woman, on whose lap James was sitting, also had a helpless expression on her face.
When James got in the car, the woman had been sleeping, so she didn't know someone had gotten in until James sat on her lap, waking her up.
"Get up quickly. Do you still want to take advantage of me?"
Even though James was sitting on her, the woman didn't scream but calmly said.
"Sorry, I got in too quickly and didn't see you there!" James explained awkwardly and then slowly moved to the seat next to the woman.
The woman glanced at James, a hint of disdain in her eyes, and then closed her eyes to continue resting.
James turned to look at the woman in front of him. She had light makeup on and looked to be around thirty. She was wearing a low-cut tank top, had long hair, a hot figure, black stockings, and a navy blue bodycon skirt, looking very seductive.
However, the woman's cold and aloof demeanor made her seem unattainable.
"Young man, where are you headed?" At this moment, the taxi driver started the car and asked James.
James replied softly, "I'm going to Stellar Lounge!"
"What a coincidence, this lady is also going to Stellar Lounge!"
The taxi driver smiled happily when he realized James and the woman were headed to the same place.
James turned to look at the woman beside him, feeling a bit puzzled.
It was only six in the evening. If the woman was going to the bar to have fun, it seemed a bit early.
Most bars weren't open yet at this time, and the woman didn't look like she was going to a bar to have fun.
"Could she also be working at Stellar Lounge?"
James couldn't help but speculate.
The woman glanced at James when she heard he was also going to Stellar Lounge but didn't say anything.
James had initially planned to strike up a conversation with the woman.
But seeing her cold demeanor, he decided not to and took out his phone to play a game.
Twenty minutes later, the car slowly stopped at the entrance of Stellar Lounge.
After paying the fare, James and the woman got out of the car together.
"Do you also work at Stellar Lounge?"
James hesitated for a moment and softly asked the woman.
The woman glanced at James indifferently, didn't respond, and walked straight into Stellar Lounge.
Seeing the woman ignore him, James smiled wryly and followed her into the bar.
Once settled inside, James swiftly surveyed the surroundings of the bar and noted that it hadn't undergone significant changes.
Although Stellar Lounge had only recently opened, its large scale had already made it quite famous in Lumina City.
Since it was still early and the bar hadn't officially opened, there were no customers inside, only a few staff members cleaning up.
"Sorry, sir, the bar isn't open yet!" At this moment, a girl called out to James.
James quickly replied, "I'm not here to drink. I'm here for a part-time job!"
"You're here for a part-time job?"
The girl quickly put down her tools, walked up to James, and said with a smile, "Hi, I'm the manager of this bar, Jessica Rogers. You can call me Jessica!"
"Jessica, nice to meet you. I'm James!" James said politely.
"I know you're James. Janet told me about you. Let me take you to meet our bar owner!" Jessica said slowly.
"Okay!"
James nodded.
Jessica turned and walked towards the second floor of the bar, with James following behind her.
Although Jessica's looks were average, her figure was very hot, with a large chest and hips, swaying seductively as she walked.
