Chapter 212 Let's Make a Bet

"You're not lesbian, are you?" James couldn't help but stare at Sylvie's gorgeous legs, swallowing hard.

He quickly shook his head, trying to get a grip. He was seriously worried that if he lost control, things might get out of hand with Sylvie.

"Are you really that dense? Even Victor knows I pretend to be lesbian to keep the creeps away. I still like guys!" Sylvie said, totally carefree.

"Okay!" James nodded, not saying much.

Sylvie licked her sexy red lips and asked, all seductive, "So, what about my offer? Want me to be your sugar mama?"

"No, thanks!" James shot back without hesitation.

"Why not?" Sylvie's eyes flashed with confusion. "Am I not hot enough? My figure not tempting enough? Or are you worried I won't give you enough cash?"

"None of that." James shook his head lightly.

"Then why turn me down? You know, there are tons of rich guys who fall for me at the University of Lumina, and I turned them all down. Now I'm offering to take care of you, and you still say no. Are you gay?" Sylvie gave James a once-over with her big eyes.

"No!" James replied, a bit frustrated.

"Then why?" Sylvie pressed.

"Because I already have a fiancée, and she's even prettier than you!" James said calmly.

"Seriously?" Sylvie exclaimed, totally shocked.

"Yeah!" James nodded slightly.

"Impossible! Are you lying to me?" Sylvie gave James a cold look, her voice sweet but skeptical.

James was speechless. Did Sylvie really think he was destined to be single forever?

Just then, Sylvie's phone rang.

"What's up?" Sylvie was startled for a moment, then answered the call softly.

"Sylvie, I heard your boyfriend beat up Victor. Is that true?" The girl on the other end of line asked anxiously.

Sylvie glanced at James and then replied softly, "Yeah, so what?"

The girl warned, "Is your boyfriend nuts? He dared to hit Victor. I just heard Victor's gathering a bunch of thugs to get back at your boyfriend. You better figure out something quick! If Victor finds your boyfriend, it's gonna be bad!"

"I got it!" Sylvie was stunned for a moment, then replied softly.

"By the way, didn't you say you don't like men? How come you suddenly have a boyfriend?" The girl asked, puzzled.

"I'll explain later. I need to figure something out now!"

Sylvie had no mood to chat about this. After saying that, she hung up the phone and sighed lightly.

Sylvie had been teasing James earlier, so she had forgotten about the Victor situation. If it weren't for this call, she might have completely forgotten.

After hanging up, Sylvie's expression turned serious.

Victor's influence as a wealthy second-generation heir was something she understood all too well.

And James was just a broke student, no match for someone like Victor. So Sylvie picked up her phone, thinking about calling some influential friends to see if anyone could mediate with Victor.

After all, James got into this mess because of her, so she couldn't just leave him hanging.

"What's wrong?" James asked, turning to Sylvie.

"What do you think? Victor's planning to get back at you. You're screwed, I'm telling you!" Sylvie replied, frowning, and then dialed a number.

"Sylvie, what made you think of calling me?" A middle-aged man's voice came from the other end.

"Zachary Stewart, my friend had a bit of a run-in with someone today. Can you help me out?" Sylvie asked with a smile.

"Since you called me personally, how could I refuse? Who did your friend have a conflict with? I'll look into it for you," Zachary asked cheerfully.

"Do you know Victor?" Sylvie hesitated.

Zachary went silent at the mention of Victor's name. After a long pause, he said, "Sylvie, was it your friend who beat up Mr. Hudson at Aurora Bar today?"

"Yeah," Sylvie nodded slightly.

"Sylvie, it's not that I don't want to help, but I'm just a small-time thug. Victor is a well-known wealthy heir here in Lumina City. I can't afford to mess with him!" Zachary said helplessly.

"Alright then," Sylvie replied indifferently and hung up, then started calling other people.

After several calls, Sylvie was completely desperate. All her friends refused to help upon hearing Victor's name.

Sylvie put aside her phone in despair and turned to James, saying, "What were you thinking? I just asked you to pretend to be my boyfriend. Why did you have to hit Victor? Now look at the mess we're in. What are you going to do?"

"Don't worry, in a few days, Victor will probably be delivering food," James replied calmly.

"Seriously? Who do you think you are?" Sylvie thought James was joking and widened her eyes in disbelief.

"How about we make a bet?" James asked with a smile.

"A bet?" Sylvie was taken aback, then said helplessly, "Dude, do you realize the gravity of the situation? You still have the mood to make a bet with me? Victor is already looking for you all over Lumina City. If he finds you, you're doomed!"

"So, do you want to bet or not?" James didn't take the Victor situation seriously at all. To him, Victor was just a worthless nobody.

"What do you want to bet on?" Sylvie asked weakly while scrolling through her contacts to find help for James.

"Let's bet on whether Victor will be delivering food within three days!" James said calmly.

"Alright, if Victor isn't delivering food within three days, what do I get if you lose?" Sylvie asked softly.

"What do you want?" James asked.

"What do you think I want?" Sylvie put down her phone and looked at James with a seductive smile.
