Chapter 378 The Thrid Provision
A stunning woman stepped out of the elevator—exactly Laura.
She was rocking a white short skirt today, making her already tall and sexy figure even more irresistible. She was oozing charm from head to toe.
Her fresh, elegant face had light makeup, her bright eyes were crystal clear, and her sexy lips were painted with orange-red lipstick. The short skirt hugged her enticing hips, her beautiful legs were on full display, and she wore a pair of black high heels, making her look incredibly sexy and beautiful.
When James saw Laura, a flash of excitement crossed his face. He quickly stood up and hurried over to her, saying softly, "Laura, you're here?"
Laura glanced at James indifferently but didn't respond. Instead, she walked straight to Charles and said softly, "Mr. Wilson, I'm really sorry for being late."
"It's okay!" Charles replied excitedly, then stood up and offered his seat to Laura with a smile, "Miss Hall, please have a seat!"
Laura didn't hesitate and sat down in Charles's seat.
"Miss Hall, hello, I am Eldon Soto, the head of the legal team." Eldon said to Laura very politely.
"Hello, Mr. Soto!" Laura nodded slightly, then turned to James and said expressionlessly, "Mr. Soto, as James's fiancée, I should be qualified to attend this arbitration meeting, right?"
"That's right, you are not only Mr. Smith's fiancée but also mentioned in Willard's will, so you certainly have the right to attend this arbitration meeting!" Eldon quickly replied.
"Then Mr. Soto, I would like to ask, how do you plan to handle James's matter?" Laura asked with a serious expression, different from her usual self.
James stood beside Laura, feeling that today's Laura seemed somewhat different from before.
Eldon looked Laura up and down, then said to her, "Miss Hall, let me explain the situation: Mr. Smith revealed his identity to you earlier, which has violated the third provision in Mr. Willard's will, so we need to cancel his inheritance rights according to the contract," Eldon said seriously to Laura.
Laura gave a faint smile, "Mr. Soto, how do you know that James violated the third provision?"
Everyone was stunned upon hearing Laura's question, their expressions very incredulous, as they didn't understand what Laura meant by this.
"Miss Hall, what do you mean by that?" Eldon asked Laura with a puzzled look.
"I mean, how do you determine that James violated the third provision in the will?" Laura repeated expressionlessly.
"Miss Hall, have you seen Mr. Willard's will?" Eldon asked softly.
"Mr. Wilson told me some things about the will yesterday, but I haven't seen the will myself," Laura replied faintly.
"Alright then." Eldon nodded slightly, then looked at Laura and said, "Since you haven't seen the will yourself, let me briefly explain the third provision in the will to you."
"Go ahead." Laura nodded slightly at Eldon.
Eldon took out Willard's will and said to Laura, "Miss Hall, the third provision in the will states that if Mr. Smith wants to inherit the estate, he must make you truly fall in love with him, and he must marry you."
"I know that," Laura said, glancing at James.
"But there's a catch," Eldon continued, "to prevent Mr. Smith from using any shady tactics to force you into marriage. Before you two tie the knot, he can't reveal his identity or any info about the inheritance to you!"
Laura nodded thoughtfully, staying quiet.
"Just now, based on the video Mr. Edwards provided, we determined that Mr. Smith revealed his identity to you before fulfilling the third provision. So, according to the will, we now have the right to cancel his inheritance rights!" Eldon continued when he saw Laura wasn't speaking.
"If that's the case, Mr. Soto, I want to ask you, is the key point of the third provision in the will that I must truly fall in love with James, or that James must marry me? Which of these two conditions is more important?" Laura asked Eldon softly.
Hearing Laura's question, Eldon was clearly stumped, as he didn't know how to answer it.
No one but Willard, who left the will, could answer this question.
"Miss Hall, I am just the executor of the will, so I don't know how to answer you, but since both conditions are written in the will, I believe both are indispensable," Eldon hesitated for a moment and said softly to Laura.
"I just want to ask which of these two conditions is more important," Laura smiled faintly, then looked at Eldon and continued, "And I think there's still a rule saying that to prevent James from using other means to force me into marriage, James must hide his identity before we get married, right?"
"Yes." Eldon nodded slightly.
"Then Mr. Soto, can I understand it this way: the will requires James to hide his identity to prevent him from enticing me, so that it can ensure I fall in love with him not for other reasons?" Laura asked methodically.
"Yes." Eldon nodded again.
"If that's the case, if James revealed his identity after I fell in love with him, and it wasn't his intention to reveal it but to save me, can reconsider it?" Laura continued, staring at Eldon.
James was stunned upon hearing Laura's words, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.
He could tell that Laura's words meant that she had already fallen in love with him before he revealed his identity.
In other words, he didn't violate the third provision in the will!
