Chapter 153 I'll Handle the Money

"I'm here to help you fix this!"

Laura stared at James, unimpressed.

"Help me? Really?" She laughed, knowing James too well.

"This isn't something you can handle. You should leave now."

Just then, Nancy burst in, grabbing James. "James, what are you doing here? Come with me and stop causing trouble for my cousin!"

"Who is this guy? Can he get our money back or find investors?" The shareholders in the conference room mocked James.

Laura's face darkened. In her mind, he was just a lowly nobody, and this situation was way beyond his ability to fix.

Hearing the laughter, Laura felt uneasy.

"I can solve this, trust me!" James said confidently.

Laura knew he meant well, but this was beyond him. She frowned and snapped, "James, do you think I'm not embarrassed enough? Get out of here and stop making things worse."

"Laura, who is this guy? Is he an employee?" one shareholder asked, eyeing James.

"He is..." Laura started, but James cut in, "I'm her fiancé!"

"Fiancé?" Everyone was shocked. They knew Laura had turned down Mr. Diaz because she had a fiancé, but no one expected it to be this poor guy.

No one understood why Laura would choose someone like him.

Laura glared at James, clearly annoyed.

"James, leave now!" she shouted, furious.

"I'm your fiancé. I can't just stand by when you're in trouble," James said calmly.

"James, are you crazy? You're just a delivery guy; you can't handle my cousin's company's problems," Nancy snapped.

To Nancy, James would only make things worse for Laura.

The shareholders laughed at James, full of disdain.

"This guy's a delivery man?"

"Wow, Laura, didn't expect you'd pick a delivery guy as your fiancé. Do your parents even know about this?"

"Laura, what were you thinking? A delivery man?"

James felt a surge of anger as he saw the sneering faces. It was nothing for them to mock him, but he couldn't stand them mocking Laura.

James had enough. He grabbed a folder from the table and threw it at a middle-aged man's face.

A loud smack echoed through the room.

The room went silent, everyone staring at James in shock.

They couldn't believe he had the guts to do that.

The man who got hit was stunned, his eyes blazing with anger.

"James, are you crazy?" Laura shouted, her composure crumbling.

She realized James was making things worse.

"How dare you hit me!" the man yelled after recovering.

"You were laughing pretty hard. Keep laughing..." James said coldly, glaring at him.

"You..." The man trembled with rage. "Laura, I see what's going on! You brought this guy to humiliate me. I was going to let it go, but now I want my shares back!"

Other shareholders joined in, shouting at Laura.

"Yeah, we want our shares back too!"

"Return the shares!"

Laura, panicking, said, "Please don't be angry. I don't know why James did this. I'll make him apologize right now!"

She turned to James and shouted, "James, what are you doing? Apologize to them!"

"Why should I apologize?" James said flatly.

"You!" Laura was on the verge of breaking down, unable to understand James' actions.

The middle-aged man shouted, "Not gonna apologize, huh? Fine, then pay me back for the shares right now! If I don't see that money today, I'll take you to court. We can drag this out and bankrupt the company—those shares don't mean much to me anyway!"

"Please..." Laura tried to salvage the situation, but James cut her off, saying coldly, "If he wants to withdraw his shares, let him."

"James, are you insane? How am I supposed to pay them back? If I can't, the court will declare my company bankrupt. Don't you get it?" Laura shouted.

"I'll handle the money," James replied calmly.

Laura was breaking down, shouting, "James, stop it. You're just a delivery guy; you don't have that kind of money. If you don't want to see my company go bankrupt, get out now!"

"I said I'll handle the money. If they want to withdraw their shares, let them," James said seriously.

James couldn't reveal his true identity yet, but once he and Laura were married, he could openly provide the money to help her.
