Chapter 101 Joshua, You Bastard!
"I'm not leaving. I haven't had enough drinks, and I haven't enjoyed the songs yet," Brittany replied. "How can I just leave like this?"
"One, I'll carry you out. Two, tell me yourself," Joshua said. "It's your choice."
Brittany pouted and looked at him with a smile in her eyes.
Having consumed quite a bit of alcohol, her cheeks were visibly flushed, her gaze much softer than usual. Combined with the lighting and her outfit, she exuded a woman's charm.
She was like a seductive fox spirit.
"Hey, I just asked you, Joshua," Brittany blinked at him. "Who am I to you? Why don't you answer?"
"Brittany!"
"Don't know how to answer? Then let me reveal it for you," Brittany said, getting off her chair and walking up to Joshua. She teasingly hooked her finger at his tie and said, "This Joshua here, well, I should call him brother-in-law."
With her beauty, charm, and coquettishness, Joshua only wanted to take her away and hide her!
He couldn't let other men see her!
It would be sinful just to catch a glimpse of her!
"In the future, when someone asks who you are to me, say that you are my brother-in-law," Brittany said seriously. "Got it?"
Joshua firmly grabbed her wrist. "Let's go!"
"You hurt me..."
She frowned as she said that, it seemed like she was in pain.
Joshua's heart softened instantly, and he involuntarily loosened his grip.
Brittany withdrew her hand, turned around, and sat back down. She picked the drink up that was on the table, tilted her head back, and finished it in one gulp.
She drank too quickly, causing some of the liquid to flow from the corner of her mouth down her chin.
The fair, slender neck, collarbones, ribs... it ended up in her dress.
What made it worse was that Brittany's dress today had an especially low neckline.
Joshua could hardly control himself at this sight!
"Drink up," Brittany beckoned. "Since we're here, it'd be a shame not to get drunk. Come on, Joshua... Oh no, I should say, a toast to my future brother-in-law."
Joshua's face darkened. "It seems like I'll have to carry you out."
He took a big step forward, about to make a move, when Brittany suddenly took the initiative and hooked her arms around his neck, pressing her chin against his chest, rubbing against him like a little cat.
Joshua's movements halted instantly.
"Why are you so fierce..." Brittany said. "I just wanted to have a drink with you. Don't you want to, Joshua?"
Joshua lowered his head to look at her.
"You don't even want to drink with me. Have I become that repulsive to you, Joshua, you bastard!"
As soon as the words fell from her lips, Brittany burst into tears in his arms.
Her tears came swiftly.
Then his shirt got wet.
Seeing her crying so fiercely, Joshua was at a complete loss.
The anger, frustration, and blame from earlier had all vanished, leaving only concern and anxiety.
"Brittany, I...I don't...I couldn't possibly dislike you," he explained softly. "Even if I hated myself, I would never hate you."
"Really?"
"Really."
"You're lying, deceiving people. You, Joshua, are a total jerk..."
After saying that, Brittany started sobbing again.
Now Joshua had completely lost his temper.
"I'm not lying, I'm not deceiving you. It's true, really," Joshua gently stroked the back of her head. "I...I love you."
He said the word "love" very softly, as if afraid that Brittany might hear it.
"Is that so?"
"Of course it is."
"Then, we have to drink. You must drink," Brittany said. "No drinking, no leaving."
Joshua looked at her helplessly.
She was really drunk...Otherwise, when she saw him, she would be indifferent, arrogant, keeping him at a distance.
"Fine." Joshua nodded dotingly. "I'll drink."
He took a cocktail and drank it in front of Brittany.
Only then did Brittany show a happy smile, "See? If you had drank earlier, nothing would have happened. Come, let's drink some more!"
"Let's go home," he said. "It's late."
"I've only been here for less than an hour. How can I leave so soon...I normally stay until the early morning before leaving."
"Before?"
She often came here to drink? She would drink for several hours?
Joshua had never known.
If he hadn't come here today to meet a client, he would rarely set foot in this kind of bar.
In those days he didn't know about, how did Brittany get home when she was drunk?
Were there any men...taking advantage of her, harassing her?
The more he thought about it, the more chaotic his mind became. Joshua's hands slipped from her waist and ended up scooping her up in his arms.
This intimate posture was too obvious, attracting the attention of those around them.
However, Joshua paid no attention to the onlookers, his eyes only on Brittany in his arms.
Joshua carried her as he walked outside. Initially, she was obedient and allowed him to hold her. But as they stepped out of the bar and the wind blew, Brittany shivered and sobered up a bit.
"Who are you...put me down," she struggled.
"I'm your brother-in-law."
"Brother-in-law...brother-in-law?" Brittany was puzzled for a while before finally realizing, "Oh, oh, you're...you're Joshua."
While she was still in a daze, Joshua had already put her in the car and fastened her seatbelt.
"Joshua, where are you taking me?" Brittany asked. "What...what did you bring to drink?”
"I'm being tied up... I want to go drink! What are you doing?"
“I’ll take you home.”
"I'm not going back!"
Joshua started the car, "You're not allowed to come to the bar anymore."
"Why do you care so much?" Brittany glared at him. "I drink my own alcohol. What's it to you? “I've noticed that you... always meddle in my business!"
"I don't want to, Brittany, " Joshua replied, "but I can't control myself."
"What nonsense... I want to get out of the car!"
"From now on, you can't go to the bar," Joshua said, "I will have someone keep an eye on you. You won't even be able to step foot in the bar."
"Joshua, you lunatic!"
"Yes, I'm crazy." He admitted, "Ever since we broke up, I've been a lunatic."
Upon hearing this, Brittany froze and muttered, "Break up? Oh, yes, we broke up... We're over. You don't love me anymore, you'll never love me again..."
She was heavily intoxicated.
If Brittany were sober, she wouldn't be like this at all.
Who knows... she might even consider jumping out of the car.
She had a fiery personality like that, even being in the same space as him would feel suffocating to her.
“Cut down on your drinking, " Joshua reached out and touched her head, "Hangovers are unpleasant."
