Chapter 226 You Must Protect Me, Lynda
This was basically a death sentence for the tall and short duo.
"Spare me, Mr. Lawrence, spare me!" The tall one didn't know what else to do but beg for mercy as blood trickled down from his head.
Sebastian retracted his foot, stood up, and changed his previous indifference. He lowered his voice, "You have two options. First, take one last look at the rising sun."
"We choose the second! We choose the second!"
"Fine, then turn yourselves in," Sebastian said, "I won't have blood on my hands. I'm going to be a father, so I need to pray with a clear conscious for my unborn child."
The iron door of the basement closed with a clang.
The tall one, who had been trying to maintain some spirit just now, collapsed on the ground like a pile of mud.
The sun of the next day still rose slowly, its light reaching every corner.
No one would ever know what happened last night.
No one would care about the surrender of the tall and short duo.
However, Grace, who had been watching the two and trying to find a chance to kill them, was thrown into disarray when she heard the news. She began to panic so much that her ears were ringing.
Grace was like a headless fly. Besides contacting Lynda, she didn't know what else to do.
Lynda was applying a beauty mask when she saw Grace's number flashing on the screen.
At first, she didn't want to answer.
But Grace kept calling and sending messages non-stop.
"Lynda, stop playing dumb and answer the phone!!"
Grace's messages clearly showed that her situation was dire; Lynda had no choice but to answer.
As soon as she answered, a frantic and sharp voice came from the other side.
"Lynda, we're in the same boat. If you dare let me face the consequences alone, we'll both go down together!"
Lynda pulled the phone away; she didn’t understand what was going on and asked softly, "What happened this early in the morning?"
"The goons I hired turned themselves in!"
"What?" Lynda cursed in her heart, tore off her face mask, and hurriedly asked, "Weren't you keeping an eye on these two?"
"They were fine last night, and suddenly, this happened. I have no idea what's going on!" Grace said, "Did Sebastian get involved? Did he?!"
"What should I do? What should I do? He won't do anything to you, but I lied to him, saying that I had nothing to do with these two. He will definitely get back at me, definitely!"
Grace had lost her nerve. It was as if she could foresee her grim future.
She muttered over and over, "Lynda, even though you didn't take any action, you can't escape responsibility for this. If something happens to me, you won't get away with it either!"
"You have to protect me; you must ensure that I remain unharmed! Otherwise, I will make a scene in front of Sebastian, in front of the Lawrence Family, and you can forget about marrying into it for the rest of your life!"
While listening to Grace's nearly out-of-control threats, Lynda weakly gasped for breath, pressing her temples as her mind span out of control.
She didn't care about Grace, but Grace couldn't be implicated.
Grace was right; they were allies; they were in the same boat.
"Don't panic, it's not necessarily Sebastian. I know Sebastian. If this was his doing, those two wouldn't have been able to turn themselves in alive; they would have been dealt with long ago." Lynda said, "You need to calm down."
"If I get involved, the Turner family is finished too; how can I calm down?!"
"Let's wait and see for now. Your family has connections, right? Hurry up and smooth things over with the police. Make up some lies, let those goons take all the blame, and get us out of this."
Grace was so overwhelmed that she naturally followed whatever Lynda suggested.
"Fine, for now... for now, that's all we can do..." Grace replied.
Lynda responded with a few words and hung up the phone.
Grace’s mind was in a mess right now. Depending on Lynda was risky, family was the most reliable.
After thinking about it, Grace told her father about the situation.
After hearing everything, Mr. Turner became incredibly furious, but he didn't have time to scold her; he immediately started to handle it.
The situation was urgent, and he immediately used his connections to suppress the matter.
Things went unexpectedly smooth. So smooth that it was beyond imagination.
Mr. Turner wore a stern expression, "Grace, just how much more trouble are you going to bring upon this family?!"
"Dad, I... I was wrong. Look, now the problem is solved. Relax, don't be angry; you have to take care of your health."
Grace felt a bit better; she couldn't manage too much right now.
As long as she kept everything under wraps before Sebastian found out, everything would be fine.
She collapsed on the sofa, taking a deep breath to calm her fearful heart.
After a while, she sent Lynda an "OK" emoji.
Lynda had been anxiously waiting for an update from Grace. Now that she finally received the good news, she felt like she couldn't truly relax, feeling that something was amiss.
But she couldn't figure out what.
She clutched her chest, coughing twice, clicked on Sebastian's WhatsApp icon, typed a few words, and then deleted them.
She couldn't be reckless; she couldn't make any more mistakes.
Since Grace had dealt with this, she decided to keep a low profile.
Sebastian hadn't come to see her in several days.
At this critical moment, she couldn't act impulsively. Her every word and action had to be more cautious than usual.
Everything seemed to have been handled, calm had been restored.
The weekend.
Sebastian woke up even earlier than usual because he had to go to his study to take care of some work matters.
After finishing, he asked Kaine to come take away the signed documents.
Back in the master bedroom, Isabella was still asleep.
Even in her slumber, she was in a daze and feeling a bit itchy around her eyes. She scratched, opened her eyes, and saw a handsome face enlarged in front of her.
She was so scared that she rolled back, almost falling off the bed.
Fortunately, Sebastian's strong arm reached out, circled around her waist, and pulled her back in time.
"You don't have to work today, sleep a bit more," he said, "It's still early."
"No, I can't fall asleep again once I’ve woken up," Isabella responded, "Didn't you say we had an appointment for... what was it?"
"Prenatal education class."
"Right, that."
Sebastian patted her head, "That's why I wanted you to sleep more, so you won't fall asleep during the class."
Isabella muttered, "What the..."
Falling asleep in class? That was something only a poor student would do.
Although Isabella's academic performance was not as excellent as Sebastian's, it hadn't reached the point of being poor.
Isabella pouted; Sebastian always belittled her.
He smiled and rubbed her head as if she were his pet.
After breakfast, Sebastian took Isabella to a health center to attend a course on prenatal knowledge.
Actually, he didn't know why they needed to learn this, but since it was useful for pregnant women and babies, it wouldn't hurt to learn.
He was calm and composed, staring at the doctor giving the lecture, looking completely focused.
Isabella sneaked a peek at him. He was so serious... as if the child needed him to take care of it.
