Chapter 454 Where Did Isabella Go?
Ruth yelled, "It's her! Mrs. Lawrence had a car accident not long ago, and this woman told me to cut the brake lines. She's evil!"
"True or not, we'll find out," the cop said, snapping the cuffs onto Lynda's wrists. "Let's go."
"No, I didn't! She's lying! You bitch, you're making this up!" Lynda lost her cool, cursing Ruth through her pain.
"Watch your mouth," the officer warned. "Take her away!"
The engagement party turned into a complete mess.
Sebastian watched, his face getting darker by the second. Calling the cops was definitely Samuel's idea.
Sebastian had planned to send Ruth to Pine Ridge Gardens to let her and Lynda deal with each other, but Samuel bribing Ruth to cause a scene at the engagement party.
Samuel didn't show up at the engagement, wanting revenge on Lynda for messing with his feelings, which had nothing to do with Sebastian. But now, Samuel was crossing the line.
Samuel was standing up for his Isabella.
Having Ruth call the cops and arrest Lynda was more than just payback for Lynda's deceit. Samuel was making a statement to Isabella, right in front of her, that he was avenging her.
Sebastian thought, 'Is this a challenge?'
His expression shifted, then he squinted dangerously and let out a mocking laugh.
He said to himself inwardly, 'Trying to take my woman, how bold.'
"Let her stay in there for a few days, then get her out," Sebastian said, heading towards the restroom. "Let her suffer a bit."
Kaine got the order and got to work immediately.
Heather had been watching Sebastian. When he went into the restroom, she sighed heavily.
Turning to Marcus, she said, "We messed up. We shouldn't have told Isabella. You acted on impulse. It's clear Mr. Lawrence brought her here to punish the culprit, not show her happiness."
Marcus ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. "He deceived Isabella. Impulse or not, we should go back."
"You just can't stand seeing Isabella in pain, can you?" Heather took his hand, leading him out. "You didn't do anything wrong. A well-meaning lie is still a lie, and the truth should be told. Besides, Isabella didn't believe it, did she? There won't be a fight today."
Marcus made a sound but stayed quiet. His expression was heavy, feeling uneasy inside.
As they walked out of the hotel with the crowd, a gust of wind blew cold rain onto Marcus's face. He closed his eyes, shook his head, and tried to shake off the unease.
In the hallway leading to the restroom, Sebastian walked steadily. He didn't care about gender differences and opened the door. The restroom was empty.
"Isabella?" Sebastian called out, "Isabella?"
Only silence answered.
'Where is she?' he wondered.
Sebastian's forehead veins throbbed, and his heart raced.
He checked each stall, confirming Isabella wasn't there, then rushed out.
The restroom door swung shut behind him.
Standing in the hallway, Sebastian's eyes darted around. The long corridor was empty, not a soul in sight.
His anxiety spiked.
He'd been keeping an eye on the hallway entrance from the hall, and he was sure Isabella hadn't come out.
So, where did she go? Or rather, where did the person who took her go?
Kidnapping seemed like the only explanation for Isabella's sudden disappearance; she wouldn't just vanish without a trace.
At the engagement party, Isabella had been acting normal the whole time.
The thought of her being kidnapped, possibly in danger like last time, made Sebastian's chest tighten with fear and pain. He tried to stay calm but couldn't. His face darkened like a brewing storm.
Gripping his phone, he quickly told Kaine to check the hallway surveillance. Then he sprinted forward, spotting a lone back door. He grabbed it and yanked it open.
A gust of wind and cold rain hit his face, but he didn't care. He stepped out into the storm.
The area behind the door was almost deserted, with only a few cars passing by occasionally.
Not far from the back door, the main entrance was bustling with police and guests leaving, creating a noisy scene.
The heavy rain made everything chaotic, making it hard to find Isabella.
"Isabella! Isabella!" he shouted, hoping for any response, but there was nothing.
Standing at the back door, Sebastian saw two paths: the right led to the main entrance, crowded with people; the left was empty and desolate.
He didn't have time to think. After a brief pause, he headed towards the main entrance.
He didn't know when Isabella had been taken.
If the kidnapper had gone left, they would be long gone, and he wouldn't catch up.
Sebastian could only hope he was lucky and that Isabella had just been taken, with the kidnapper still among the crowd and traffic at the main entrance.
This was the first time Sebastian had searched for someone so blindly and aimlessly.
With each passing second, his worry grew, weighing heavily on his chest.
He braved the rain, checking each car and each person, but the results were disappointing.
His face grew darker, his hands clenched tightly, muscles tensed.
Each time hope rose, it was quickly dashed by disappointment.
Sebastian was deeply frustrated. He shouldn't have let Isabella go to the restroom alone. The hotel was full of mixed company and dangers.
A car honked beside him, its headlights flashing.
Sebastian's eyes stung from the light. He closed them, rubbed his brow to ease the pain, and quickly opened them again.
In that instant, his gaze fell on the rearview mirror of a car not far away. With just one look, he met a pair of familiar eyes.
Sebastian gasped, his heart seemingly stopping.
