Chapter 396 Has Not Been Found Yet

"Let's go get breakfast, or Grandpa will get impatient, and that's just rude," Isabella said, quickly shifting the topic to avoid further teasing.

"No," Sebastian said, "Everyone wakes up at different times at the Lawrence House. We don't eat breakfast together."

Isabella breathed a sigh of relief. "I see."

"But we still need to have breakfast." Isabella grabbed Sebastian's hand. "Let's go."

Sebastian shook his head. "I have a meeting in the morning, no time for breakfast. Be good and eat by yourself, okay?"

"A meeting?" Isabella's brows furrowed with a hint of guilt. "Why didn't you remind me? I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kept you messing around."

Sebastian smoothed the crease between Isabella's brows. "No blaming yourself. Besides, how do you know I'm not full?"

"You didn't eat, how could you be full?" Isabella didn't understand what he meant.

Sebastian tapped her lips and gave a lazy smile.

He didn't continue the topic but said, "I have an appointment with Tyler at ten in the morning, no rush. There will be bodyguards following you the whole time, don't worry."

Though he said this, Sebastian still felt uneasy, his mind troubled by an unsettling feeling that wouldn't quite go away.

After he finished speaking, he frowned. "Don't go."

Then he changed his mind again. "Have Tyler come here."

His heart slowly settled, and the cold fear down his back was significantly reduced.

Sebastian took out his phone, about to dial Tyler's phone number, but Isabella stopped him.

"I can go out now, it's fine." Isabella saw Sebastian's tension and felt soft inside, comforting him gently, "I need to go out eventually, just arrange a bodyguard to follow me."

Sebastian raised an eyebrow; perhaps still shaken by the events of the past few days, he felt something was off.

Even his right eyelid was twitching.

As if signaling that something bad was going to happen.

"Go on with your work. I promise to take care of myself and the twins. Nothing will go wrong," Isabella said, giving him a gentle push toward the door. "I'll come by your office for lunch. How does that sound?"

Sebastian couldn't pinpoint what was wrong but couldn't refute Isabella's words.

After thinking it over, he had to agree.

Isabella wasn't worried; Sebastian's bodyguards were loyal and highly skilled, they would definitely protect her.

After seeing Sebastian off, Isabella stuffed an egg into his hand, her eyes rimmed with a blush.

Blushing, she said, "I can't fill you up, eat this on the way."

Sebastian's meaning earlier was actually quite clear.

She leaned in, quickly kissed Sebastian on the lips, then straightened up and closed the car door.

As she stood outside the car, waving goodbye cheerfully, Isabella's face beamed with a bright smile.

The egg in Sebastian's palm radiated warmth; he held it tightly, the heat spreading through his body.

Meanwhile, he watched Isabella's figure shrink into the distance, then raised a hand to touch his lips. The trace of her presence still lingered there, and as he withdrew his hand, her essence seemed to cling to his fingers, faint but persistently burrowing into his heart.

Isabella watched Sebastian's car leave, her smile gradually fading.

She shrugged in frustration.

"I miss him so much."

It had barely been five minutes since he left, yet her yearning surged like wildflowers overgrowing a field.

Isabella thought to herself, 'So pathetic!'

She sighed, realizing she was just another lovesick woman.

She stretched, went back inside to change clothes, tidied up a bit, and called Carl to arrange a car.

The driver was in the driver's seat, and in the passenger seat sat a stern-faced Mario.

Mario spoke earnestly, "Mrs. Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence sent me to protect you. Please rest assured, I will be responsible for your safety."

Isabella wasn't surprised; all of Sebastian's bodyguards were like this.

She nodded and thanked him.

Then she said, "Take me to Willowbrook Estate first."

She had come to the Lawrence House in a hurry and hadn't packed her things.

Clothes and shoes weren't an issue; the Lawrence House always had supplies on hand. But she needed to gather her study materials.

Those were vital, and she had to keep them close at all times.

The Lawrence House and Willowbrook Estate were not close, so Isabella leaned against the window and took a nap.

She suspected that the bumpy ride forced her body into an awkward curl, leaving her with poor quality sleep. Unfortunately, she ended up having a bad dream.

She couldn't quite recall what transpired in her dream, but it left a bitter aftertaste.

When she woke up, Isabella's chest felt tight, and her heart ached.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Isabella kept breathing deeply until she felt better.

Just then, the car stopped outside Willowbrook Estate.

Isabella rubbed her nose, put on a cardigan, and got out of the car to enter Willowbrook Estate.

It had been a few days since she last visited, and the flowers around the estate had nearly withered, signaling the full arrival of autumn.

As she took in the scene, memories flooded back from a month ago when Carl mentioned something that struck a chord. Suddenly, she turned to glance at the distant woods.

Sure enough, she could see patches of red maple trees.

Her heart fluttered at the thought of dragging Sebastian out there one day to enjoy the scenery together.

Isabella was really helpless.

She thought, "Honestly, what else is on my mind besides him?

'Sebastian really knows how to pull at my heartstrings!'

"Mrs. Lawrence!" Carl's voice rang out, reaching Isabella's ears.

Isabella looked for the source of the voice and saw several rows of servants standing in front of the basement door.

Judging by the number, all the servants at Willowbrook Estate were there.

She thought in her heart, 'What is going on?'

"Mrs. Lawrence, why are you back?" Carl ran over to Isabella.

"I just need to grab a few things," Isabella replied, glancing at the assembled staff. "Why is everyone just standing around? Is something wrong?"

Carl clasped his hands in front of his stomach and respectfully answered, "That day, the car that took you out had its brakes tampered with. Mr. Lawrence asked me to investigate everyone."

"The brakes?"

With her pregnancy fogging her memory lately, she couldn't recall the specifics.

"Yes," Carl said, "otherwise, Jackson wouldn't have driven the car into the utility pole."

Isabella's expression immediately turned grim, her voice cold. "How's the investigation going? Are these all the people?"

Carl looked troubled. "Yes, after the incident, Mr. Lawrence ordered that no one was allowed to leave. Among them, we found several people with suspicious identities and ulterior motives, but the person who tampered with the brakes has not been found."

Isabella instinctively placed a hand on her slightly rounded belly, feeling the warmth radiating from within.

It was a stark reminder of how close she had come to disaster. Just a little more misfortune, and everything could have changed in an instant.
