Chapter 219 I Just Want to Be Good to You, Don't Be Afraid of Me

"You don't need to overthink," Sebastian saw through her thoughts and opened the car door, "Get in."
"Okay."
He was truly puzzling but everything he said still possessed a charm that could make one fall for him.
On the way back, Isabella decided to feign sleep.
As soon as the car stopped, she immediately opened her eyes, got out of the car quickly, and rubbed her hands together, "It's so cold... so cold."
It was gradually becoming summer, and in fact, it wasn't cold at night, but she lied because she didn't want to walk with Sebastian.
Sebastian tossed the car keys to the butler, took two steps forward, and picked up Isabella sideways.
"Ah..." Isabella's body lightened, and she abruptly wrapped her arms around Sebastian's neck, "Wha...what are you doing?"
Sebastian looked straight ahead and said in a deep voice, "Little liar."
He always knew exactly when she was lying to him.
Isabella fell into his deep, dark eyes, making her heartbeat momentarily irregular, "You better put me down."
The butler and others were looking at her with... such suggestive eyes.
"No one would dare to look."
Sebastian said it confidently, and his expression remained totally natural.
Yet, Isabella still slapped his chest, "But I don't want to be carried. Put me down!"
Her delicate eyebrows were already furrowed, but Sebastian not only didn't let her go, he held her even tighter.
Isabella struggled in vain and had no choice but to let him have his way.
She felt sorry for herself; she was a living human being after all.
He was such a bully!
Finally, they reached the bedroom.
Sebastian put Isabella on the bed and rubbed her head, "You can curse now, holding it in is not good for your health."
Isabella covered her mouth, her eyes darting around. Compared to just now, her momentum had weakened a bit, "What are you talking about? I'm not holding anything in; I'm not."
Sebastian unbuttoned his shirt with one hand, a smile playing on his lips, "Really?"
"Of course," Isabella grabbed the bedsheet and bit her lower lip, "I know my place."
How could she dare to openly defy and insult him? Did she not remember the pain?
Not daring to stay a moment longer, for fear that Sebastian would lose control, Isabella quickly got off the bed, "I'm going to take a shower."
"Isabella, I just want to be good to you, don't... be afraid of me." The voice behind her was surprisingly a bit weary and low.
Isabella's back stiffened. She paused for a few seconds, then ran into the bathroom as if fleeing.
Sebastian knew that the slap had left a deep scar in her heart. He looked down at his own palm and slowly closed it.
She would need a long, long time to recover.
The sound of trickling water came from the bathroom, and Sebastian finally looked away.
He closed his eyes and let out a long breath, pinched the bridge of his nose, and turned to leave the bedroom.
In the study, Sebastian held his phone, contemplating Jarod's actions and words from the day. He had a hunch that Jarod knew something or was investigating something. He dialed a number, "Mr. Cooper."
"Mr. Lawrence?"
Surprise and panic tinged the voice on the other end; he was clearly unprepared for Sebastian's call.
Sebastian gazed at the quiet night scene; his expression indifferent. "Mr. Cooper, if a third party learns about certain things, your son will bear the consequences. You should know, your son is not very likable."
His tone was light throughout the call, devoid of any unnecessary words, yet it carried an undertone of ruthless determination.
On the balcony of the Cooper Family residence, Marcus' father's phone clattered onto the floor.
Marcus' mother woke up startled, "What happened? Is there a problem at the hospital?"
"No, no," Marcus' father said, his face pale as he picked up his phone.
Isabella was half-asleep when a warm chest covered her.
Someone was holding her from behind, enclosing her in his embrace.
The slight prickling of stubble rubbed against her shoulder, and his moist breath sprayed in her ear, tickling and numbing her. Sebastian's magnetic voice echoed in her ear, "Goodnight, my Isabella."
Isabella had a good night's sleep, even her dreams were sweet. So much so that when she woke up to the cold temperature beside her, she couldn't help but curse at herself, "Crazy."
Because she was pregnant, of course, Sebastian wouldn't share a bed with her anymore. He would have to remain chaste for Lynda. And yet, she had dreamt... about him holding her so gently.
‘Isabella, are you out of your mind?’
"Mrs. Lawrence, you're up so early?"
Isabella rubbed her eyes as she descended the stairs, "Yes, I have to go to work."
"But Mr. Lawrence said you don't have to go to the company anymore; he wants you to take good care of the baby," the butler said.
"Really?" Isabella sat at the dining table, "I'll still go to work as usual; let's eat first."
She still had nine months to go. She couldn't be unproductive.
Without the child, and without the ability to fend for herself, all she would have left is ridicule. After all, Mrs. Lawrence, who was kicked out after giving birth, would be a stepping stone for everyone.
She couldn't afford to be unproductive. Otherwise, what would she do if Lynda bullied her baby in the future? What if Sebastian didn't allow her to visit the baby?
After finishing the special pregnant woman meal prepared by the kitchen, Isabella picked up her bag and headed out.
"Mrs. Lawrence," the butler hurriedly chased after her, "If you go out like this, Mr. Lawrence will be angry."
"When is Mr. Lawrence not angry?"
The butler was speechless, unable to refute.
As Isabella got out of the car, she saw Kaine waiting from afar. As soon as he saw her, Kaine immediately ran towards her.
That butler really had a big mouth!
"Mrs. Lawrence, watch your steps."
"Mrs. Lawrence, take it slow."
"Mrs. Lawrence, you..."
"Stop," Isabella held her forehead, "Kaine, are you very free? If your work is really light, I think Emily must miss you. Women never mind having their loved ones around, so Kaine, you can totally go to the dubbing department and hang around with Emily."
"Heart... loved one?" The usually calm Kaine stuttered, as if scalded.
Isabella nodded, "Mm-hmm."
She pushed open the door to her office and after entering, slammed it shut, leaving Kaine outside, stunned and dazed.
