Chapter 36 Who is she?
Isabella stood still, unable to react for a long time.
Only when the footsteps approached and sounded near her ears did she suddenly come back to her senses and looked up.
Her gaze met Sebastian's.
Jarod Lawrence turned his wheelchair around and headed towards the sink.
"Why is Big Brother here?" Sebastian asked indifferently, "Do you want to wash your hands?"
"Yes."
"These small matters can be handled by the maid who takes care of you. There's no need for you to come in person."
Jarod Lawrence answered, "I can handle these trivial matters. I don't want to completely become a useless person."
"But, Big Brother doing this might make my wife feel uncomfortable." Sebastian's gaze shifted between the two, "Men and women are different."
"Then I apologize for that. I will pay attention next time."
Sebastian didn't say anything else and pulled Isabella to leave.
"You're hurting me..." she stumbled along behind him, "Sebastian, slow down."
As soon as Isabella finished speaking, he actually stopped right away.
She didn't expect him to stop just like that, without even adjusting her steps, she crashed into his back.
Sebastian, who had been working out and had muscles, made Isabella feel like her nose was going to bleed from the impact.
She winced in pain.
Sebastian, however, seemed unconcerned and asked, "What did he say to you?"
Seeing his serious and tense expression, Isabella thought of Jarod Lawrence's words.
At this moment, Sebastian probably guessed something, which was why he asked like that.
"...He didn't say much," Isabella replied, "Just asked if I was adapting well, getting used to it, and if I was getting along with you."
"Isabella, don't lie."
"Really, that's all. What else could he say to me?"
Sebastian stared at her, seemingly trying to discern the truth from her words. His gaze almost bore a hole through Isabella's face.
Isabella tried to remain calm as she accepted his scrutiny.
However, she didn't quite believe Jarod Lawrence's words before, but now... she believed them somewhat.
Who was she, exactly?
Was she the woman Sebastian held in his heart?
Since he had someone he loved, why did he pick her up on a rainy night and marry her?
A series of questions crowded Isabella's mind, giving her a headache.
"In private, have less contact with him," Sebastian said, "Do you understand?"
"Why? Isn't he your elder brother?"
"In a powerful and influential family like the Lawrence family, do you think a half-brother... can have genuine feelings?"
Isabella understood.
Although Old Lawrence currently held power in the Lawrence family, the Lawrence Group was in Sebastian's hands. If we were to talk about real power... it all rested with Sebastian.
Jarod Lawrence must have been jealous and resentful. His younger brother was so outstanding and capable, while he himself was a failure and disabled.
So, when Jarod Lawrence mentioned "her," was he deliberately trying to sow discord between Isabella and Sebastian?
True and false, Isabella was starting to have trouble telling them apart.
She suddenly sighed and reached up to smooth out his furrowed brow. "Sebastian, you must be living a very exhausting life..."
He did not expect Isabella to say these words, and his expression showed slight surprise.
"If our marriage is genuine and natural, I would really like to say at this moment, it's okay, I'll be with you through thick and thin in the future... but I don't have the right to say that at all."
His endless glory and overwhelming power have also been through countless hardships and sacrifices behind the scenes.
She is not a woman who can see all of this, nor a woman who can soothe his pain.
Sigh, it is a fact that was already clear in her heart, so why does she feel uncomfortable at this moment?
Sebastian's eyes dimmed, "Isabella, what are you talking about?"
"For the future, I hope there will be someone by your side until the end. Otherwise, it will be cold and lonely at the top. How lonely must you be all by yourself?"
It would be a good thing for Sebastian if there really is that "she."
Suddenly, Sebastian forcefully wrapped his arms around her waist, pulled her into his embrace, and passionately kissed her lips.
He didn't know why she said such things, and she didn't understand why he suddenly had the urge to kiss her.
This kiss, compared to before... carried a hint of tenderness.
Isabella was on the verge of being completely captivated, truly.
She could clearly feel his breath and his scent, and he even worried that her back would be uncomfortable against the wall, so he carefully cushioned it for her.
"Brother, have you found your sister-in-law...?"
Anthony's voice suddenly sounded, then immediately stopped.
"Ah... continue, continue, you guys. I didn't see anything, it wasn't intentional. I'll leave right away!"
Isabella's face instantly turned red, so red that it could almost drip blood.
She was seen! This is so embarrassing!
With Anthony's personality... even if he doesn't go around telling the Lawrence family, he will definitely make fun of her in the future!
"Um... Sebastian..."
Isabella tried to avoid him, but he bit her lips forcefully before letting go.
She quickly raised her hand to wipe the corner of her mouth, but before she could, Sebastian grabbed her hand, asking, "What are you doing?"
"You say, what am I doing!"
"You were in such a hurry to wipe it off... do you find it disgusting?"
"I just don't want to be seen!" Isabella stamped her foot in frustration, "Do you think I'm proud to have your saliva on my lips?"
Sebastian replied, "I can help you wipe it."
He reached out as if to do so, but Isabella slapped his hand away with a "snap."
"You bit me!" she said, "You, you, you... you're annoying!"
"Did it hurt?"
"Not really..."
"That's good then," Sebastian said, "Let's go to the restaurant. Do you want everyone to wait for the two of us?"
Isabella pouted, looking extremely cute, "You dare to say that! Obviously, you're the one who's been keeping us!"
Isabella looked sulky, appearing very cute, and said, "How dare you say that? It's clearly you who's been procrastinating here..."
"Oh," Sebastian replied, "Not obvious."
"But it's clear that something happened..."
