Chapter 131 She Won, Not You
"Yes..."
"It would be best if he coughed to death from tuberculosis!"
"..."
"Prepare the car, I want to go to the hospital to visit my grandmother."
Now that Isabella had some free time, there was nothing else for her to do but accompany her grandmother at the hospital. It was a good way to pass the time.
She didn't have much attachment or reluctance towards the Wallace family, but her grandmother was the most important person to her.
However, as the car drove out of the Willow Brook Estate gate and made a turn, the driver suddenly said, "Madam, Miss Turner is waving."
Isabella looked up and saw Grace sitting in her red sports car, waving her hand incessantly towards her car.
Grace? What did she want?
"Madam, should I stop the car or...?"
"Stop the car."
Isabella answered calmly, "Good timing, I also have something I want to ask her."
Unexpectedly, Isabella didn't have to seek out Grace; she came to her instead.
"Yes ma’am."
The driver pressed on the brakes.
"Mrs. Lawrence," Grace leaned on the car window and said, "What a coincidence to meet you here."
Isabella also rolled down her window and looked at her, "Yes. But, is it really a coincidence, or have you been waiting here for me for a long time?"
"It's really a coincidence. I have a sister who lives around here, and she invited me for afternoon tea today."
"It seems that the Turner Family's daughters are indeed fortunate. All her friends come from wealthy families and live in such excellent mansions."
Grace laughed, "But still not as fortunate as you Mrs. Lawrence. Everyone knows that the Lawrence family has billions in assets and lives in Willow Brook Estate, New York's number one mansion."
"There's more to what you're saying."
Isabella opened the car door, "Come down, let's talk."
This was a luxurious residential area where only the wealthy and privileged resided. The landscaping was also quite impressive.
Isabella stood by the lake and looked at Grace, "Speak, what do you want from me?"
"I already said, it's a chance meeting. Why do you insist that I have ulterior motives?"
"I don't have time to chitchat with you, and I don't want to look at you all the time."
Isabella was straightforward, "You know, the young master of the Watson family, who left Willow Brook Estate unscathed, came specifically to taunt me."
Grace laughed, "So direct, huh?"
"I don't want to waste any words with you."
"Well, I've never wasted any words."
Grace replied, "I told you before, Sebastian's affection is not for you, he has someone he loves. Look, I'm genuinely giving you this information."
Isabella retorted, "Then I should thank you?"
"You're welcome, it's only natural." Grace had a smug expression.
Isabella started to laugh. Grace didn't understand why she suddenly burst into laughter and was a bit confused.
"You... you, what's so funny about this?"
"You said you knew about Lynda's existence and then witnessed my marriage to Sebastian. So... you still want to pursue Sebastian? Are you afraid that you won't be able to get married?" Isabella teased.
"I... I love Sebastian! It's just that he doesn't love me," Grace replied.
"Your love is so pitiful and pathetic that Sebastian has never even paid attention to you," Isabella countered.
Grace retaliated, "You think Sebastian loves you so much?"
"I don't know if he loves me," Isabella answered, "But it's a well-known fact that he married me."
"Hmph! Sooner or later, Lynda will bring you down. She won this time with Bob's incident and emerged victorious," Grace said, "And look at you... tsk, tsk, getting felt up by young Watson from the Watson family."
Isabella maintained her smile and said, "She defeated me, not you. What business is it of yours? Why are you bragging here?"
"I... I'm not afraid to tell you," Grace lifted her chin, "I gave advice to the Watson family and told them to find Lynda."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, Isabella, you don't know how happy I was when I saw Lynda. Finally, someone who can take away your glory and put you in your place!"
Isabella calmly asked, "How do you know Lynda will help the Watson family?"
"The Watson family is indebted to Lynda. They had close ties when Lynda's parents were still alive. They received a lot of favors," Grace stated confidently, answering every question. Isabella finally believed her.
So, it was Grace who connected Lynda with the Watson family.
Seeing Isabella's increasingly unpleasant expression, Grace became even more delighted, "Oh, just look at it. Everyone in New York knew before that Sebastian was furious, and young Watson from the Watson family had no chance of survival. They were all waiting to see his fate. But with just a few words from Lynda, the outcome turned around."
"What does it matter if you were humiliated? And what does it matter if you were almost violated? And so, what if you were slapped? Lynda, in front of Sebastian, will protect the Watson family's members"
“On the family matter, Isabella, you have suffered a great deal and yet you still have to swallow your pride!"
"When it comes down to it, you, my dear, are not even half as important as Lynda. Isabella, it's time for you to realize your place and have a little self-awareness."
Isabella listened quietly.
She felt sadness in her heart; it was her own scar to bear.
However, she wouldn't show it in front of Grace.
"Is that all?" Isabella asked. "Is there more?"
Grace smirked in satisfaction and tousled her hair. "No, that's it."
"Alright then, it's my turn."
"What do you mean?"
Isabella smiled sweetly. "I have a question for you now, but I'm not sure if you have the courage to answer."
"There's nothing I'm afraid to answer."
"Good, I hope you'll live up to that."
Isabella stared at her, forcing each word out.
"During that incident, when I was blindfolded and abandoned in the wilderness, it was you who ordered someone to do it, wasn't it?"
Little did she know, upon hearing her words, Grace burst into laughter.
Isabella furrowed her brows tightly.
She didn't understand... what was so funny about this?
"Don't you know yet? Have you been kept in the dark this whole time? Oh my... hahaha!"
Grace laughed uncontrollably, doubling over in amusement.
"And now you're coming to me for confirmation, hahaha..."
Isabella remained motionless, but a chill slowly rose from the depths of her heart.
"It seems you're not as clever as I imagined, Isabella."
"Explain yourself clearly."
"I have no problem telling you. After all, you can't do anything to me."
Grace suppressed her laughter, but a joyful expression still lingered on her face.
"Now that Lynda is here, you are nothing."
"What does Lynda have to do with me trying to confront you?"
"If you try to harm someone, Lynda will protect them. Similarly, if you try to protect someone, Lynda will act against them. Isabella, it's such a simple principle. It's truly foolish of you to need me to explain it."
