Chapter 223 Today's Surveillance Video of Mrs. Lawrence at the Hospital
Even then, he had forgotten that Marcus was also in the same hospital; his mind was entirely preoccupied with her, and even more so...
When Sebastian arrived at the hospital, he saw her walking aimlessly in the hallway from the floor where Marcus was staying.
She was so preoccupied that she even ignored his presence.
He didn't even ask her if she had visited Marcus while bringing Brittany to the hospital. He wanted Marcus to be a thing of the past.
On top of that, he even gave her a way out.
But she... not only did she show any guilt or unease, she was even acting like she was in the right.
Sebastian's pride wouldn't allow him to bring up the way he was feeling right now or the fact that she had ignored him in the hospital earlier.
He just dropped a sentence without expression, "You're really something."
Then, he started the car.
Having witnessed Mrs. Cooper’s helplessness and pain at her son’s suffering, Isabella was in no mood to ponder over Sebastian's odd behavior.
She turned her face and looked out of the car window.
Could she resolve this and find justice for the Coopers?
Not at all.
She couldn't even think about how to prove that Grace hired someone to harm her and Marcus.
Even if she overheard Mr. Cooper confirming that Grace was behind this over the phone, it still wasn’t enough.
Isabella sighed; what should she do about this?
How could Grace and Lynda get the punishment they deserve? How could she prevent Sebastian from interfering and avoid another incident like Bob's?
Her sigh reached Sebastian's ears.
Unbeknownst to her, faint blue veins were rising on the back of Sebastian's hand, "What are you thinking about?"
Isabella sat straight and shook her head, "Just spacing out."
Another lie...
Spacing out? She was thinking about Marcus, wasn't she?
Sebastian smirked and sped up the car, but when his gaze scanned over her, Isabella showed no abnormality.
He was instead worried about the child in her belly, so he had to slow down.
"The project I assigned to you; there's no time for you to delay. Handle it quickly and stop thinking about unnecessary things."
"I know."
"I hope you can complete it by yourself but if you need help, you can ask me."
Isabella replied, "I can do it; I will definitely submit a satisfactory report to you!"
Did he think she was incompetent?
Sebastian glanced at her sideways and hit the brakes, "I'm looking forward to it."
He then stepped out of the car.
Isabella followed him in silence; she really didn't understand Sebastian's capricious and unpredictable temperament.
Back at Willowbrook Estate, the two ate in silence.
Isabella took advantage of Sebastian going to the study to handle business affairs and then took a nap, rejuvenating herself for the afternoon project.
She had to turn things around and show what she was capable of.
Isabella was serious about her work. After returning to the company, she put all her efforts into learning and preparing to handle the project Sebastian had given her.
Having followed Sebastian for so long, she got the hang of things relatively easily.
Soon, Isabella had established her plan.
Naturally, she had to have Sebastian review it.
Sebastian seemed in a bad mood today, and she was a little worried that he would reject her plan; she was also worried that he would deliberately nitpick at everything she had done.
After hovering in front of the CEO's office door for a while, she gritted her teeth and knocked.
"Come in."
Isabella entered with her folder.
Sebastian didn't even look up, "Wait on the sofa."
Isabella was right. Just as expected, whenever he was in a bad mood, he took it out on her.
After a boring half-hour wait, she had almost fallen asleep she heard his cold command, "Bring it here."
Isabella’s drowsiness vanished, and she immediately handed over the folder, clasped her hands in front of her belly, and anxiously waited for Sebastian's response.
"Don't hover in front of me, go sit down."
Isabella gritted her teeth, "Alright."
In the large office, the sound of Sebastian flipping through the pages echoed loudly.
Isabella watched attentively. Her palms were sweaty, and she was sitting as straight as a schoolgirl who was waiting for her teacher's feedback.
However, even if she was nervous, she couldn't stand another half an hour.
Isabella was drowsy once again.
Every time she closed her eyes, the "shush" sound from him flipping through the pages would sound again, and she would immediately wake up.
After several rounds of this, Isabella finally saw Sebastian look up.
This was Isabella's first assignment; she took it very seriously. Sebastian stared at her silently; she felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest.
After waiting for a long time but still not hearing a word from him, she couldn't stand it anymore and asked cautiously, "How is it?"
"What do you think?" Sebastian closed the file and raised an eyebrow.
Isabella clenched her hands, "Is it very poor?"
She lowered her head and said softly, "I think... it's not bad."
"Yes," Sebastian said, "I think..."
Isabella suddenly looked up.
Sebastian was playing with his pen, "It's not bad either."
"You..." This time Isabella's mind turned quickly, "You tricked me again!"
She quickly walked two steps, snatched the folder, and angrily said to Sebastian, "You suck!"
After saying that, she hummed heavily, turned around with the folder, and left.
Sebastian leaned back in his chair, pinching his chin to appreciate Isabella's lively expression.
After she left, he frowned.
He sucked?
Not at all.
Isabella returned to her own office while cursing Sebastian several times in her heart.
He was such a jerk. Whenever he was upset, he would definitely torture her.
Taking a deep breath, Isabella rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
It was not about the money; it was the principle of the thing. She must do exceptionally well on this project.
He only said it was not bad, not good, which meant there was a lot of room for improvement.
After signing the contract and forming a team, Isabella officially began the project.
Although this was just the first step of the project, there were many more steps waiting for her to check and control, but she felt fulfilled and proud; the anger she had accumulated by being with Sebastian had also eased.
Isabella could also manage a multi-million dollar project. Sebastian wasn’t that great.
Isabella maintained a good mood for a while; she didn’t even notice that it had gotten dark.
Sebastian was working overtime, and Isabella didn't want to provoke him, so she naturally waited for him to get off work.
While standing at the top of the Lawrence Group building, Isabella stood in front of the window, overlooking the beautiful city, her mouth raised into a beautiful smile.
Under the dim light, she gently touched her belly as her eyes drooped, radiating a maternal glow.
With a ding, Isabella turned to pick up the phone on the table.
Brittany had finally sent a message saying that she had been discharged from the hospital and that she had returned to her mother's house; she also said that Isabella shouldn’t worry; she was fine
Isabella stretched and sighed.
She also knew that Brittany always reported good news and not her worries.
Even if she was discharged from the hospital, there must have been other things bothering her.
However, it was good that she was discharged from the hospital. Isabella couldn't help with the other stuff anyway.
While Sebastian was still busy, Isabella closed her eyes and continued to consider the matter of Grace hiring goons to harm her and Marcus.
In the CEO's office next door.
Kaine knocked on the door and went in, respectfully saying, "Mr. Lawrence, today's surveillance video of Mrs. Lawrence at the hospital has been sent to your email."
"I know; you can leave now." Sebastian tapped the table with his pen and looked up, "Aren't you leaving?"
