Chapter 15 A buzzkill of a woman
"Oh no, no, it was a misunderstanding," she quickly exclaimed.
"You can have thoughts, after all, you will have to experience him well in the future."
What was even more outrageous was that Sebastian had actually, actually taken hold of her hand and reached directly for that area.
"If you want it, just say so, I can fulfill your desires, Mrs. Lawrence."
Isabella tried forcefully to pull her hand back, but it was firmly held by Sebastian.
Suddenly, a sound of rumbling came. Both of them froze in their actions.
"Grrr...." the sound echoed again.
Isabella smiled awkwardly, "I'm hungry."
...
"I am a patient, I just had a hypoglycemic fainting, I can't be hungry," she quickly said, "Look, even my stomach is protesting, do you want me to faint again?"
Sebastian snorted coldly, rolled off the bed, and walked towards the bathroom while unbuttoning his shirt.
Isabella quickly got up, not even bothering to put on her shoes, and ran outside.
The butler saw her coming downstairs and politely asked, "Madam, do you need anything?"
"Is there anything to eat in the kitchen?"
"Yes, I will instruct someone to prepare it for you. What would you like to eat?"
"Noodles," Isabella replied, "I'm about to faint from hunger."
After finishing her meal and returning to the bedroom, Sebastian glanced at her, "Are you still feeling unwell?"
"No, I'm fine. Look, my complexion is rosy and I'm full of energy."
"You're jumping around during your period?"
"...It's just an adjective."
Sebastian leisurely closed his book, looked into the distance, and paused for a few seconds, "When will it be over?"
Isabella weakly replied, "There... there are still four days left."
"Such a buzzkill of a woman," Sebastian pressed his nose, "Go to sleep."
After a brief silence, Isabella tried to call out his name, "Sebastian?"
"Hmm?"
She bit her lip and spoke softly, "Do you really have to have a child? I can make a different deal with you, as long as I have something to offer."
"I only want a child."
Isabella sighed, "Alright... Goodnight."
...
Lawrence Group.
Kaine followed alongside Sebastian, holding an iPad, reporting today's schedule, and waiting for the elevator.
Mr. Lawrence from his family seemed relatively normal, much better than his complexion from the previous two days.
Hmm... it must be because he didn't argue with his wife.
"Ding—" the elevator door slowly opened, and Brittany walked out from inside.
"Miss Everly," Kaine immediately greeted, "Good morning."
Kaine overturned the thoughts in his mind; what hardships and struggles were Mr. Lawrence faced with, compared to this charming and elegant director.
The overall love story was truly sensational. These two individuals were originally a perfect match, blessed with exceptional talent and beauty.
However, unexpectedly, they broke up and the situation became extremely tense.
There was a rumor going around that when Mr. Johnson had an affair, Miss Everly caught him in the act.
Furthermore, it was heard that the other woman was... Miss Everly's cousin. Just half a month after their breakup, Mr. Johnson found a new love interest, who happened to be Miss Everly's cousin.
"Good morning, Kaine," Brittany greeted with a smile and nodded at Sebastian. "Mr. Lawrence, do you have time at ten o'clock?"
Sebastian took long strides and entered the elevator. "I have time now."
Upon hearing this, Brittany followed him into the elevator. "It's about some matters in the design department..."
"The design department?" Sebastian interrupted her. "Isn't that Joshua's responsibility?"
"Mr. Johnson isn't in the company today."
"Not here?" Sebastian turned his head to look at Kaine.
Kaine nodded. "Yes, Mr. Lawrence, I haven't seen Mr. Johnson today. Seems like he has some personal matters."
Brittany chuckled lightly. "It's nothing major, it seems like Mr. Johnson is going to accompany his fiancée to try on wedding dresses."
Sebastian remained silent as he pushed open the door to the office and saw the man sitting on the sofa.
Joshua lazily turned around and said, "Mr. Lawrence, it's already nine o'clock and you're just arriving at the company. You're late! I've been waiting for you..."
Brittany smiled calmly, "I didn't know Mr. Johnson was here, sorry for the interruption. Mr. Lawrence, I'll find you at ten o'clock."
"No need," Joshua stood up, "I'm leaving."
"Don't be like that."
Joshua said, "Ladies first."
Brittany had already started walking out, "Excuse me, Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Johnson."
Back in her own office, Brittany closed the door and relaxed against the wall, taking a deep breath. She felt utterly exhausted.
Trying on wedding gowns...They were already at the stage of discussing marriage. It was happening so quickly.
The man who had once solemnly declared that he would only marry her, now wanted to hold someone else's hand and enter the realm of marriage.
Brittany still remembered walking into that hotel room and seeing Joshua and Nicole sleeping together. It was a nightmare that would haunt her for the rest of her life.
*Knock, knock*
The sound suddenly came from the door, bringing Brittany back from her thoughts. "Come in."
"Cousin," a sweet voice sounded, "It's been so long, I came to see you."
Brittany furrowed her brows, "What are you here for?"
Nicole replied, "Joshua promised to accompany me to try on wedding gowns today, but something came up at the company, so he came here first. I thought I'd wait for him to finish up and then we could go to the bridal shop together."
"Then go to his office, why are you coming to mine?"
"I said I come to see my cousin," Nicole innocently smiled, "You're not... still angry with me, are you?"
"What do you think?" was Brittany’s cold reply.
"Cousin, you're so beautiful and successful in your career. There are plenty of good men waiting for you to choose them," Nicole said, "You will find a good match."
Brittany pointed to the door, "Get out. I said I never want to see Joshua again in this lifetime, and the same goes for you!"
Nicole's smile slowly froze, "Brittany, I'm not deliberately causing trouble. If you really want to stay far away from him, why did you stay at Lawrence Group? You should leave New York, go far away, the farther the better."
"Even my presence at Lawrence Group bothers you?"
Nicole replied, "I just hope that you can do what you say."
"I will never actively seek to meet him. If it just happens by chance, it's beyond my control,"
Brittany suddenly tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Besides... why doesn't he leave Lawrence Group?"
"Are you crazy? He is the senior vice president of Lawrence Group, holding a significant share of the Stocks?!"
"Are you crazy? Do you have nothing better to do than come here to seek attention?"
Nicole was about to say something else, but suddenly stopped. "Alright then. Since...my cousin doesn't welcome me here, I'll leave."
"No need to be escorted out."
Joshua returned from Sebastian's side and saw Nicole standing in front of the table, flipping through something.
His expression changed slightly. "Who gave you permission to touch my things?"
"What's the big deal? It's just Brittany's photo," Nicole said. "Why, is it so precious? I can't even touch it?"
Joshua snatched it away, threw it into a drawer, and closed it, clearly showing his anger.
Nicole reached out to hold his arm. "I won't look at it next time...there's no need to be like this."
He gave her a cold glance.
"I just went to see her," Nicole said. "The look in her eyes, is even more vicious and disgusted than yours."
