Chapter 133 Help, I Can't Swim!
"You...you...you...you can't..." Grace stammered.
"It's quite hot today. Why don't you go take a dip in the lake? How about it?" Isabella suggested.
Grace shook her head repeatedly. "No, I won't go. Isabella, you can't do this..."
"Then let's see if I will."
With that, Isabella forcefully pushed Grace over the bank and headed towards the shore.
They were already standing by the lake, very close, just a few steps away.
Grace clung to the ground, refusing to move forward.
"I won't let you decide." Isabella said. "Go and wash up. Look, the water is so clear that you can even see the bottom. I'm being kind to you, otherwise, wouldn't it be more disgusting to throw you into the sewer?"
"You..."
"Oh, I know a place that's like a sewer too." Isabella thought for a moment. "You can choose. Is it this artificial lake, or the sewer?"
After saying that, she felt like she had heard that phrase somewhere before.
It seemed familiar.
Oh...right, Sebastian.
Sebastian liked to talk like this, giving the illusion of choice to others, when in reality, it would have been better not to.
And now she had learned it too.
At this moment, Isabella realized that she had become somewhat like him.
This feeling wasn't so good.
But now wasn't the time for her to ponder on these matters.
Isabella looked at Grace in front of her and said, "What are you standing there for? Make a choice!"
"No, no."
Grace continued shaking her head, desperately trying to free herself from Isabella's grasp.
"If you do this, I won't let you off, I..."
"Since we're already enemies, let's escalate it further. I don't mind." Isabella interrupted.
With all her strength, Isabella dragged Grace to the shore.
Then, with a sudden release of her grip, before Grace could even stand up, she kicked her directly... And sent her tumbling into the water.
Water splashed up from the lake, creating ripples.
"Ah!"
Grace's scream echoed across the surface of the lake.
After kicking her into the water, Isabella didn't leave. Instead, she crossed her arms and watched the spectacle from the shore.
She couldn't resist adding insult to injury, "How's the water temperature? Is it suitable or not? Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask, can you swim?"
Grace continued struggling on the water's surface, without a chance to respond.
"Looks like you can't. Ah." Isabella said. "The Turner Family is so rich and influential, why didn't they enroll you in swimming classes? Just look at you now...so much like a drowned rat."
"Isabella, please...help, help, I... I... I can't swim!"
Isabella continued to watch Grace floundering in the water.
Today, Grace had driven alone, so there was no one by her side.
However, Isabella's driver heard the commotion, as well as the security guards on patrol, and they rushed over upon hearing cries for help.
There were guards and servants rushing to the lake, and in no time, Grace was pulled out of the water.
Undressing, Isabella prepared to jump into the water to rescue the drowning woman.
"Just wait," Isabella said. "Let her struggle a bit longer and swallow more water."
"But..."
"When she's almost at her limit, then pull her out and take her to the hospital."
The security guards were dumbfounded by her words.
Isabella stood silently for a moment before suddenly turning around and walking away.
"Go ahead and save her. Teach her a lesson, but I don't want anyone to die."
After she finished speaking, the guards went to rescue Grace.
Isabella got back into her car.
She lowered her head and looked at her palm, there were red marks from her Grace’s nails where she had gripped for dear life.
For some reason, despite seeing Grace in such a miserable state, Isabella didn't feel any sense of satisfaction.
When did she become a person like this?
Seeking revenge, nitpicking, and even pushing someone into the water. Was she capable of all these things now?
The old Isabella... wouldn't have done this, wouldn't have even thought about it.
Otherwise, her stepmother and Sharon wouldn't have been able to be arrogant in front of her for so long.
"Maybe it was because the forest that night was too terrifying. Grace should experience despair and fear... Yes, that's it."
Isabella comforted herself repeatedly.
"That must be it."
"I was just getting back at her. She was the one who came before me, flaunting her power... I was defending myself, so I did nothing wrong."
But no matter how much Isabella muttered to herself or tried to console herself, her heart still couldn't calm down.
She had changed, truly changed.
"Do I really have to become such a ruthless person?" Isabella asked herself. "Is it really necessary? Do I need to compete with Lynda, to... to achieve what?"
She slowly clenched her palm.
All of this was because of Sebastian.
Isabella looked at the driver. "Drive to the Lawrence Group."
"But ma'am, weren't we going to the hospital?"
"We'll go later."
The driver didn't dare to say anything else, and nodded.
"Yes."
Isabella just wanted to ask Sebastian one question, just one question.
Lawrence Group.
"What did you say?"
Sebastian's astonished voice suddenly came from the office.
He was usually composed, so what could have surprised him like this?
Kaine lowered his head. "Mr. Lawrence, the news came from the people at Willow Brook Estate... so it's very reliable."
"Did you witness it yourself?"
"... No, not really. But the security guards rescued Grace and she's currently in the hospital, Mr. Lawrence."
When Kaine heard this news, he was not only surprised; he was utterly dumbfounded.
Could this be the same Mrs. Lawrence who seemed delicate and kind, always smiling at people... doing such things?
Sebastian remained silent for a few seconds, but eventually...
A bit hard to accept "Isabella really pushed her down? Are you sure? It's not Grace framing her, right?"
"Mr. Lawrence, according to Willow Brook Estate, Mrs. Lawrence pushed the person and then stood by the shore watching the scene. Not only that, she even instructed the security guard who was rescuing to wait a moment before helping, letting Miss Grace drink a few more mouthfuls of water."
Sebastian fell silent again, then nodded slightly, "I see."
"Mr. Lawrence, about this matter, should we..."
"No need."
Kaine seemed hesitant to speak further.
"What else?"
Sebastian looked at him.
"Speak."
"Well," Kaine coughed awkwardly twice, "it's just that, last night, the Watson family took Bob back, and this matter... has caused quite a stir in the circles of New York."
"... What are they saying?"
"Basically, they're saying that Miss Lynda's return is more important than the lady's, in your heart..."
"That's enough."
Sebastian's tone carried anger.
"Leave."
Kaine quickly left.
He was just relaying the facts, so... why did this anger get directed at him?
Moreover, Mr. Lawrence should have thought about how it would be perceived by the outside world when he did this.
Mr. Lawrence is a smart person, with a keen and perceptive mind.
Unfortunately, in matters of the heart... he might just take a big fall.
