Chapter 288 Don't Tell Sebastian What I'm Busy With

At the same time, Isabella, under the sun, suddenly felt a chill.

She didn't know where it came from, and then her right eyelid also twitched.

"Miss, are you ready to pay?" The cashier girl's voice was crisp.

Isabella snapped out of her wandering thoughts, apologetically smiled, and took out some cash to give to the girl.

After paying, Isabella carried some miscellaneous tools and items and left.

On the way back, Isabella had already figured out what she wanted to do. She planned to find a corner and decorate it a little to celebrate Sebastian's birthday.

If possible, she also wanted to make a cake, although she didn't know if she could make it successfully.

Isabella was determined to put her whole heart into this.

She had once been in love, and in the end, she still loved Sebastian. She didn't want him to always resist and blame himself on his birthday.

Sebastian had once helped her, and she would do her best to repay this kindness.

Back at Willowbrook Estate, Isabella officially started preparing.

After much consideration, she chose an adjacent bedroom on the first floor.

"Madam, is there anything I can help you with?" The butler saw Isabella carrying bags into the side bedroom and proactively asked.

Isabella waved her hand. "No need, just pretend you didn't see me," she requested.

She slightly curved her mouth and before closing the door, she poked her head out. "Also, don't tell Sebastian what I'm busy with."

"And if he comes back, remember to call me and let me know first," Isabella reminded.

"Understand?" Isabella sought confirmation.

The butler was initially stunned but suddenly realized, a smile appearing on his face, causing his wrinkles to deepen. "Madam, are you preparing something for Mr. Lawrence..." he asked.

"Shh." Isabella pressed her index finger against her lips.

The butler quickly agreed, smiling brightly.

After giving her instructions, Isabella didn't say much more.

Inside the bedroom, she drummed her chin, familiarizing herself with the environment.

Isabella didn't have experience in interior design, but her spatial thinking was pretty good, and she had a general idea in her mind.

Great!

After eating lunch, she took a short nap and continued working in the afternoon. She even made a trip to the Lawrence family's old mansion to retrieve something.

Afterward, she contacted a few more people and made a unique birthday gift.

Although it was a busy day, Isabella felt fulfilled in her heart.

Lying in bed at night, she quickly felt sleepy.

However, just as she closed her eyes, Isabella suddenly opened them wide.

Sebastian hadn't come back since last night. What happened?

If he was with Lynda, that wouldn't make sense either. She even ran into Lynda this morning.

Did something happen at the company?

Isabella reached for her phone with her arm stretched out, checking for any messages, but found nothing out of the ordinary.

Isabella's head ached as she thought and thought, but she couldn't figure out anything.

She thought Sebastian wouldn't come back tonight, so she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

In the middle of the night, Isabella vaguely felt herself being embraced by someone warm.

She reached out to her side and felt... a familiar body.

She turned around, curling up her body and nestling into that embrace.

Almost immediately after she turned, a warm and strong arm pressed against her waist.

Isabella, with a furrowed brow in her dream, slowly relaxed her eyebrows and hazily asked, "Will you be busy the day after tomorrow?" Sebastian had hardly slept all day and night, having to make decisions about work matters and Joshua's affairs.

Clear signs of fatigue appeared on his face, something he rarely displayed, but he never felt the need to disguise it in front of Isabella. Paradoxically, once he held her in his arms, he didn't feel how tired he was. It was a strange experience.

Sebastian kissed Isabella's forehead and replied in a magnetic voice, "Yes, get some sleep." Isabella's eyelashes fluttered, and soon after, she began to breathe shallowly and rhythmically.

"Goodnight," Sebastian held her tightly, extending his arm to turn off the bedside lamp. This hoarse and weary voice continued to echo in Isabella's ears, remaining there even when she woke up the next morning.

She opened her eyes and, in a half-awake state, stared at the ceiling for a while. Eventually, Isabella rubbed her temples and had a thought - had Sebastian come back?

She looked to her side, and the bedsheet seemed to have some slight signs of being slept on, though it wasn't apparent. It was as if he had come back, yet it also seemed like he hadn't.

Isabella clenched her fists and knocked her head, wondering why even in her dreams Sebastian was always there. Even if she sincerely prepared for Sebastian's birthday, she couldn't invest herself in that relationship anymore. She repeatedly sounded the alarm to herself.

And so, Isabella spent the next two days preparing, Sebastian's birthday approaching.

On Sebastian's birthday, Isabella didn't go to the company. Instead, she thoroughly decorated the side room and hurriedly started making a cake.

Making a cake was not as easy as Isabella had imagined! She was flustered and made various mistakes, whether it was the proportions of the cake batter, beating the egg whites too much, or the cake cracking.

In short, Isabella couldn't make a perfect cake all morning. Why was it so difficult?

Isabella didn't believe in this curse. After a quick lunch, she continued making the cake. She believed that effort would yield results and, just when she thought she was going to fail again, she succeeded.

The golden cake was extremely soft, and it looked adorable even from a distance through the oven door. Isabella tightly gripped her hand and exclaimed with excitement. If it weren't for the two treasures in her belly, she would have definitely jumped up.

Isabella was truly a skilled and talented person!

The butler, watering plants outside, happened to glance and couldn't help but smile. He hoped that his master and madam would live in love for a lifetime.

Isabella hummed a tune happily as she opened the oven.

Perhaps she was too excited, and in a rush, she forgot to put on oven mitts and grabbed the tray directly, resulting in a row of blisters forming instantly on her fingertips.

Isabella gasped, then quickly turned on the faucet and ran her hand under the cold water.

Once the pain subsided, she quickly put on gloves and took out the cake to cool.

After that, Isabella became even busier - flipping the mold, whipping the cream, mixing colors, writing on the cake surface...

By the time she finished cooking the noodles, night had already fallen.

Finally, everything was done, Isabella took out her phone, it was already 8 pm.

And... Sebastian hadn't come back yet.

After all the busyness and preparations that she had done for almost three days, Isabella suddenly realized that she had no idea if Sebastian would come back today.

Perhaps he would visit his mother, or maybe he would stay with Lynda. Isabella, who was full of excitement and passion, had her spirit suddenly drained away.

What was she doing here? Did she have a role to play? She did so much, but Sebastian didn't need her at all. It felt like something was blocking her chest, making it slightly difficult for Isabella to breathe. She leaned against the counter, using it as support for her body.
