Chapter 402 He Feels Unworthy of This Trust
"Alright." Sebastian slowly released his clenched hand. "Keep an eye on her and take good care of her."
He emphasized the phrase "good care."
Grace heard it clearly through the microphone, her scalp tingling and her back getting goosebumps. She was terrified.
However, she couldn't struggle or speak.
Every time she made a slight sound, Mario would tighten his grip.
Isabella sat in the car. Perhaps Billy had set the air conditioning so low that her fingers felt cold.
When her fingertips accidentally brushed her arm, the chill made her immediately pull her hand back.
"Billy, the air conditioning is a bit low. Could you turn it up a bit?" Isabella asked lightly, looking ahead.
"Mrs. Lawrence, the air conditioning isn't on," Billy replied with a smile. "Just a moment, and I'll turn it on."
Isabella looked puzzled. It wasn't on?
Then today's temperature must be quite low.
Isabella hugged her arms, shivering.
It really was a bit cold.
"Thank you, Billy," Isabella said.
"You're welcome," Billy quickly turned up the temperature inside the car, and a continuous stream of warm air began to flow, enveloping Isabella.
However, it was still quite cold.
How strange.
Throughout the journey, Isabella felt unwell, sometimes cold and then hot, her limbs weak and her head faintly aching.
To make matters worse, her right eyelid was twitching uncontrollably.
Isabella thought Grace really was her nemesis. Just one encounter and a few words made her feel so uncomfortable.
At the Lawrence Group building, Isabella got out of the car, stretched, and relaxed her limbs.
Then, she looked up at the towering office building, trying hard to muster a sweet smile.
However, just as her lips were lifted, they quickly dropped, just like her heart, beating slowly and sinking continuously.
She bit her lip, unable to change her state.
Isabella had to admit that she was still affected by Samuel and Grace's words.
Trust and doubt wavered on the scales.
Trust prevailed, but the doubt couldn't be ignored.
After all, some things were too obvious.
Even she could find some evidence of Lynda's covert actions. Could Sebastian not?
Isabella had no answer to this question.
The elevator doors opened steadily.
Isabella stood in the elevator, dazed for a couple of seconds.
She was a bit surprised. She had just been looking at the building, and now she was suddenly on the floor of the CEO's office?
"Ma'am," Kaine, holding some documents, came out of Sebastian's office and met her eyes. "You're here."
Isabella stepped out of the elevator. "Kaine, have you finished the meeting?"
Before Kaine could answer, the door handle of the CEO's office made a crisp sound.
Immediately after, Sebastian came out of the office.
With an impeccable sense of timing, Kaine, left first.
Isabella looked at Sebastian from a distance.
Strangely, seeing him made all those chaotic thoughts in her mind disappear instantly.
She only had Sebastian in her eyes.
Nothing else mattered.
Isabella offered a natural smile as she walked towards Sebastian.
She stood in front of him and helped him adjust his tie.
"If you're tired, let's order in," Isabella said, her hands deftly moving, her eyes on the tie. "Or we can eat at the company cafeteria. That's fine too."
Sebastian gazed down at Isabella, silently observing her expression.
When he saw the familiar smile on Isabella's lips, his heartbeat gradually steadied.
Good, nothing had happened; all was calm.
"Not tired." Sebastian opened his arms, wrapped them around Isabella's waist, and pulled her into his embrace, speaking softly above her head. "I'll take you out to eat."
Isabella inhaled Sebastian's familiar scent, a cool aroma smelling like cedar.
The scent was cool, but Isabella didn't feel cold at all; instead, she felt warm.
These scents seemed to transform into large palms, smoothing out the anxiety in her heart.
"I want barbecue." Isabella looked up, her eyes wide and glistening. "Can I? Can I eat it?"
Sebastian looked into Isabella's clear eyes, and the heart he had been holding up finally settled.
She truly trusted him.
She didn't believe Grace's words.
She didn't believe he had obtained evidence but was covering for Lynda.
Sebastian was more than satisfied, filled with joy.
He knew he didn't deserve this trust.
However, guilt and joy were not mutually exclusive.
Sebastian couldn't help but bend down, his nose touching Isabella's, "Good girl, I'll take you."
"When am I not..."
Without giving Isabella a chance to speak, he tilted his head slightly and kissed her right on her lips.
Sebastian was always dominant, and Isabella was pushed back step by step by his advance, unknowingly pressing her back against the solid wall.
When the kiss ended, Isabella, like a fish out of water, was dazed and breathing heavily, looking at him.
Her mind was blank, unaware of how much she attracted Sebastian just by standing there.
When Isabella didn't wear makeup, she looked clean and pure. With makeup, she looked enchanting and alluring, with completely different auras.
At this moment, her clean brows and captivating red lips silently teased Sebastian.
Sebastian looked down. He reached out a finger, wiped the blood from Isabella's lips, and then, in front of her, tasted it directly.
"Sweet," he said with a low laugh, a hint of red appearing at the corner of his mouth.
Isabella's eyes widened.
Seeing Isabella's reaction, Sebastian's smile deepened.
She should trust him unconditionally, be attracted to him, and be firmly under his control.
Everyone was greedy.
Sebastian even felt that the current level was not enough.
He still worried about her leaving, still felt uneasy, not completely at ease.
This worry was like a ticking time bomb, not knowing when it would explode. Maybe it never would, or maybe it would soon.
And Sebastian would be utterly destroyed by the explosion.
He couldn't even imagine that day coming.
Sebastian lifted Isabella's chin, his voice hoarse and dangerous, "I want to…."
He wantd to lock her up and hide her where no one else could see, keeping her away from this world with only him by her side and depending on him forever.
