Chapter 166: Congenital Heart Disease

" you don't look well today," Isabella took a seat across from her, "Is it because you spent the night alone and didn't rest well?"

Lynda took a sip of tea, "I'm sick."

"Oh, I know she has a weak constitution, but I've always been curious, what illness do you have?"

Lynda smiled, "Sebastian didn't tell you?"

"Why would he tell me these things? I never asked," Isabella replied, "But with this illness of yours, you can't bear children, right?"

When Isabella mentioned "bearing children," Lynda visibly became unhappy.

She was unhappy, and Isabella was delighted.

She called over the waiter, "A cup of black coffee, please."

"If I could bear children, you wouldn't have the audacity to come before me now," Lynda gritted her teeth, "You're just a substitute!"

"But in this society, a woman who cannot bear children generally isn't accepted," Isabella said.

Lynda became somewhat agitated, "I am not incapable of bearing children."

"Oh, you can bear children, then I guessed wrong," Isabella smiled, "I apologize if I'm mistaken. Since you can bear children, why did Sebastian still come to me?"

"It's because Sebastian pities me, he doesn't want me to bear children!"

"Yes, Sebastian does dote on me," Isabella nodded repeatedly in agreement, "That's why he sought me out, sharing the same bed, reveling night after night... and you can accept that too."

Lynda's face turned almost liver-colored.

Isabella took a sip of her coffee, "Mmm, it's delicious. hey, why are you only drinking tea? Not having any beverages? Or is it because of your illness, you can't drink coffee?"

Lynda stared at her intently.

Isabella had gained an advantage in their exchange, and her mood improved slightly as she slowly stirred her coffee.

"Since the day I met you, I knew you, this woman... isn't easy to deal with," Lynda said, "I can't outsmart you. But, even though you're quick-witted, it doesn't change the fact that you're just a stepping stone for me."

Isabella chuckled, "There's nothing absolute. Who knows, I might just continue to sit in this Mrs. Lawrence's position."

"That's impossible!"

"Nothing is impossible. You should know that the Lawrence family is on my side. And the child... is mine. Bloodline, kinship, do you think my position will be low?"

Lynda lifted her chin, "As long as I'm here, Isabella, you will never succeed!"

"Well then... let's wait and see."

Confronting others was something Isabella excelled at.

Lynda approached her, bringing up the child, well, then Isabella would bring up the child too.

The child is her own, carrying half of her blood. In the future, she will visit occasionally and always hold the identity of the birth mother. So what if Lynda, the stepmother, is arrogant?

Besides, Lynda is nothing but a hen that can't lay eggs.

Even though she is the one being used and the one who failed in this game, her momentum must not be underestimated. She won't let Lynda trample over her.

"Isabella, I truly envy your confidence," Lynda said. "Of course, you do have the confidence, after all, you will be Sebastian's child ‘s biological mother. This is something I can't surpass."

"No worries, if you can come up with ways, you can have your own child too. With today's advanced technology, who knows, you might find a suitable medical procedure for yourself?"

"Seems like you really don't know what illness I have."

"Go ahead and tell me."

Lynda replied, "Congenital heart disease."

Isabella's hand holding the coffee paused for a moment.

"Since I was young, I couldn't engage in vigorous activities and never took physical education classes. I can't experience excessive joy or sadness, avoiding emotional fluctuations. I have to carry medication at all times and take it at scheduled intervals," Lynda said. "Now, things have improved a lot."

"So that's it... I understand now why you can't have children and why the Lawrence family dislikes you so much."

"If I were to get pregnant forcibly, I might die. Moreover, this illness... has a potential for inheritance."

The Lawrence family couldn't take a gamble with the next generation.

Therefore, besides Sebastian's insistence, no one else in the family has any goodwill towards Lynda.

"Get a heart transplant," Isabella smiled. "It's not impossible."

Lynda looked at her. "Sebastian has suggested the same thing."

"Then you should give it a try."

"Surgery involves risks," Lynda replied. "If it fails, I might not survive the operation. Even if the success rate is high, there's no guarantee of zero mistakes."

Isabella lifted her gaze and met her eyes. "Why are you telling me all this... What are you trying to convey?"

"Nothing. I told you, I just wanted to have a chat with you. Isabella, I have nothing left now. Sebastian is my last support. If you try to challenge me, I won't hesitate to do whatever it takes."

Isabella sighed. "I knew it. Everything you show in front of Sebastian is just a facade and pretense. Well, I can only say that men have a weakness for this."

"Sebastian and I cannot be separated by you," Lynda warned. "You better give birth to the child, take the money, and leave obediently. I promise to be a good stepmother."

"You still don't understand me, Lynda," Isabella calmly responded, and her aura, if anything, felt even stronger than Lynda's. "I..."

"The thing I dislike the most is being warned or threatened."

"But you have never put yourself in the right position," Isabella countered.

"Is it me who hasn't put myself in the right position, or is it you? I am Mrs. Lawrence, who are you? Even if you were Sebastian's former lover, now you are just his mistress kept on the side."

"Mrs. Lawrence? What a joke! Once you give birth to the child, Sebastian will divorce you, and you will be kicked out! Can you deny that?"

"That is indeed a fact," Isabella nodded, "But besides you, besides me and Sebastian, is there a fourth person who knows?"

"What does it matter if others know or not?! It is still a fact!"

"So what? Are you brave enough to say it?" Isabella asked, "Are you brave enough to go meet the Lawrence family and tell them the truth? Now, even Sebastian has to be cautious and avoid attention when he comes to see you. Do you think you are so glorious? Embarrassing yourself in front of me?"

Lynda was so infuriated by her words that she clenched her teeth. "Don't push it too far!"

"You were the one who started it. What are you showing off in front of me? Being arrogant? Yes, Sebastian loves you, I admit, but do you think a man's love can last long?"

"Well, at least I have received something you never did!"

"I might not have received it now, but what about in the future?" Isabella asked, "I am spending day and night with Sebastian, sharing the same bed, what about you? Eagerly waiting for him, happy for several days just to see him twice a week."

Lynda's face turned pale as she pointed at her, "You, you..."
