Chapter 164: The Order of Appearance Matters in Life

Joshua said that he had feelings for Isabella.

Could it be true that seeing is believing, and outsiders have a clearer perspective?

Is he really a scumbag? Having feelings for one person while being with another.

But Isabella's presence is only to allow Lynda to stay by his side.

"Knock, knock, knock—"

The sound of knocking suddenly interrupted the complex thoughts of the two.

"Mr. Lawrence," the servant said, "the hangover soup has arrived. Can I bring it in now?"

Sebastian stood up, walked to the door, and took the tray, bringing it inside himself.

By the time he returned, Isabella had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep.

Sebastian looked at the hangover soup and then at her, sighing softly. "You kept complaining about being dizzy. Now that the hangover soup has arrived, you're sleeping again. If you don't have a sip, tomorrow you'll wake up feeling even dizzier and in more pain."

He gently placed the tray down and turned to the bathroom.

Once she heard the bathroom door "click" shut, Isabella, lying on the bed, dared to open her eyes.

She could only pretend to be asleep.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to face Sebastian anymore.

The taste of deceiving someone... is truly unbearable.

Isabella didn't know if Sebastian felt any better after lying to her for so long and finally revealing the truth when Lynda returned.

She closed her eyes once again.

But at this moment, all that kept flashing in Isabella's mind were Lawrence's affectionate words.

Sebastian and Lynda never really got together...

It was just ambiguity...

Not even the window paper had been pierced...

Each phrase echoed in her ears, clear as day.

Maybe Sebastian, who had been treated like gold since childhood, didn't truly know what love and affection meant.

But in the next moment, Isabella's mind cleared up.

The order of appearance in one's life matters.

Lynda met him, got to know him, and got close to him before Isabella did. She had already won 99% of the game, hasn't she?

Thinking and thinking, with a dizzy and overwhelmed mind, Isabella eventually fell asleep.

The car stopped at the company entrance, and the security guard hurriedly ran to open the car door.

Sebastian got out of the car and glanced behind him.

The on-duty security guard had sharp eyes and immediately went to open the other car door.

"No need, thank you." Isabella had already gotten out of the car. "Morning."

The security guard was pleasantly surprised. "Good morning, Mrs. Lawrence."

"I'm also an employee of the company, no need for the 'Mrs.' stuff." Isabella smiled.

Her eyes were crescent-shaped, "Just call me by my name."

"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare."

Sebastian turned around, seeing her having a pleasant conversation with the security guard while treating him with cold remarks. This added a touch of displeasure to his heart.

He let out a cold hum and walked quickly into the company.

Isabella flicked her hair and said leisurely, "This Mr. Lawrence, he's good in every way—tall, handsome, and wealthy—but his temper is a bit bad. Don't you think so?"

The security guard didn't dare answer her.

Isabella watched Sebastian enter the company's gate, then turned on her tiptoes and walked away.

She went to a nearby convenience store.

Chatting with the security guard and causing Sebastian's displeasure was all intentional on her part.

The two of them didn't speak a word during their time together that morning, a silent disagreement.

Isabella was already accustomed to Sebastian's ever-changing moods, so she carried on with her own business.

To cover up, Isabella bought a lot of things at the convenience store, filling up a basket, pretending to casually toss a pregnancy test inside.

If she only bought the pregnancy test, it would appear too deliberate and might be easily remembered by the cashier.

Carrying the bag, Isabella swaggered back to the office and distributed the snacks she bought to her colleagues in the secretary's office.

Afterward, she finally returned to her own office.

Closing the door, Isabella quickly searched for the pregnancy test and tucked it into her handbag, her heart pounding like thunder, nervous beyond description.

She didn't know what she was afraid of; she had successfully bought the item already.

Now, it was time to go to the restroom and conduct the test.

However, if she went to the restroom right after arriving at the company, it would seem a bit too deliberate, wouldn't it?

Isabella decided to take it slow.

In the President's Office, Sebastian glanced at Wei Ping, "Bought snacks?"

"Yes, when the Madam arrived, she was carrying a bag from the convenience store, filled to the brim."

So, Isabella didn't follow him into the company, but went shopping instead.

But why did she buy so many snacks?

Seeing Sebastian wrinkling his brows in thought, Wei Ping smiled, "Mr. Lawrence, perhaps you don't understand. Girls just love eating, all kinds of snacks. I reckon the Madam wants to keep some in the office for snacking."

"She rarely eats snacks at home."

"It's different at the company, where work stress is high. In the secretary's drawers, you'll find all sorts of miscellaneous snacks, a wide variety."

Sebastian glanced at Wei Ping again, "How do you know so much about it?"

"Girls are all similar, more or less."

"Seems like you have quite a bit of experience, I didn't expect that."

Wei Ping felt a bit embarrassed, "Mr. Lawrence, it's not experience. Um... it's just common knowledge."

"It's common sense, common sense..."

"Is that so?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "Then you and Emily have been getting closer lately, going out for meals and movies. Isn't that called dating experience, not common sense?"

"Mr. Lawrence, I... I... I..."

"Changed your address?"

"Alright, no need to explain."

Wei Ping couldn't argue back. Even if he wanted to, Sebastian was his boss and he dared not defy him.

"Anyway," Wei Ping scratched his head, "Mr. Lawrence, all women are like this."

Sebastian made a sound of acknowledgment but didn't say anything more.

He recalled that in the morning, she didn't eat much, just had a few sips of soy milk and half a boiled egg.

"Hold on," Sebastian called out to Wei Ping, "have the supermarket downstairs deliver some snacks."

Wei Ping understood immediately, "Yes, Mr. Lawrence."

Isabella sat in her office, feeling every second pass like an eternity. She couldn't sit still, pacing back and forth, feeling time move so slowly.

In the meantime, she had already downed two glasses of water.

The pregnancy test kit and a large stack of tissues were already stuffed in her pocket, waiting for the right time to make a trip to the restroom.

Finally, when Isabella felt ready to go, she clenched her fist in determination and walked towards the door with long strides.

"Ouch..."

As soon as she opened the door, Isabella collided with someone and stumbled a few steps back.

She looked towards the entrance and saw a delivery guy carrying two boxes that were nearly half his height, making it impossible to see his face.

And with that collision, the stacked boxes became crooked and seemed about to topple over.

Isabella quickly reached out and helped stabilize them.

To her surprise, the boxes looked big but were relatively light, and as a young woman, she had no
