Chapter 230 It was me who made you play the hero

Finally, Grace arrived at Marcus's ward, successfully reaching her destination.
"Go open the window and listen to the drama," Sebastian patted Isabella's buttocks, signaling her to get off.
"Oh." Isabella's face was flushed; she coughed and sat down next to Sebastian.
Sebastian, however, wasn't interested. He took out a few documents and started to work.
The room quieted down. Isabella tiptoed to open the window, carefully pricking up her ears.
But it was very quiet outside. Why was the prelude to this drama so long?
She felt like she was going to fall asleep again, it was too boring.
Outside, in the corridor.
Grace rushed to the front of Marcus' ward, saw the door wasn't closed tightly, and reached out to knock, but her hand hung in the air as she heard a frustrated commotion inside the room.
She withdrew her hand and pressed her ear against the door.
Inside Marcus' ward, Mrs. Cooper was cursing, "Heather came all the way back to see you, and you? You wake up, and the first thing you ask is about that wretched woman? Haven't you suffered enough because of her?"
"My silly son, she has no feelings for you at all. You've been lying in the hospital for so long, and she hasn't even visited you."
Marcus struggled to open his mouth, "Isabella... how is Isabella?"
Mrs. Cooper wanted to say something else, but realizing that Heather was still standing there, she promptly closed her mouth.
The Perez family ran a multinational company; they were a match for the Cooper Family. The union of the two families was icing on the cake; Mrs. Cooper was extremely satisfied with them.
"Heather..." Mrs. Cooper's face was once again adorned with a smile, "I'm really sorry to have made you witness this. Marcus is just too sentimental; it's just brotherly and sisterly affection."
"It's not brotherly and sisterly affection..." Marcus struggled to deny it, repeating over and over again, "Where's Isabella? What happened to Isabella?"
Mr. Cooper, who had been silent, clenched his fists tightly, "She's Mrs. Lawrence; what business is it of yours? Back when you were planning to marry her, people said she was marrying beneath her status. Now, she's completely out of your league!"
The atmosphere turned icy.
Just at the right moment, Heather, who had been observing Marcus with interest, stepped in, "Marcus just woke up; let's let him rest. Uncle and aunt, you've been worn out recently too. I'll take care of things here."
Heather, clad in a modest beige dress, flashed a smile revealing her perfectly straight teeth; she was the picture of a well-behaved heiress from a wealthy family.
Mrs. Cooper immediately took a liking to her future daughter-in-law, and Mr. Cooper also looked relieved. The tense atmosphere finally eased a bit.
"Good child." Mrs. Cooper took Heather's hand and patted it several times, "This situation is hard on you. You and Marcus should cultivate your feelings."
Heather sent Mr. and Mrs. Cooper out, her smile a bit too bright, "Definitely."
At this time, Marcus took the opportunity to pull out the needle, propped up his body with the bed, and tried to leave too.
Mr. Cooper, who had just calmed down, turned back, saw this, and began shaking with anger.
He didn't care that Heather was still present. He raised his hand, ready to strike Marcus' face, "You defiant child, always reaching for what's not yours; do you want to bring the Cooper Family to ruin?!"
Heather stepped back to avoid getting involved.
After stepping back, she felt that it was against her quiet and gentle ladylike image, so she hurriedly called out to her uncle, trying to save the situation.
Then, as Mrs. Cooper took center stage, she successfully managed to fade into the background, reducing her presence.
Heather's gaze fell back on Marcus.
To be precise, on the small piece of his abs that were exposed.
Mrs. Cooper rushed forward, her face going pale with fright.
She clung to Mr. Cooper's arm, stopping him from moving. " Marcus just woke up; what are you doing?!"
Then, she tearfully said to Marcus, " Marcus, you only have one life; you can't afford to be reckless. Everyone else is fine; she is unharmed. Only you... only you almost lost your life."
"She's fine?" Marcus' eyes lit up, "She... is okay? Really? You're not lying to me?"
Unbeknownst to Marcus, the more he cared about Isabella, the more Mr. Cooper and Mrs. Cooper resented her.
Mrs. Cooper gritted her teeth; her jaw muscles were tightly clenched, "Yes, she..."
Outside the door, Grace could hear everything the Cooper family was saying.
A brilliant smile spread across her face as she thought of an excellent plan.
This time, she would make Marcus beg Isabella to forgive her and also set a trap for Isabella.
"She's fine!" Grace announced loudly as she pushed open the door and stood in the doorway, blocking Marcus' view, "Isabella is fine!"
The loud voice woke Isabella from her drowsy state, who immediately sat up straight, rubbed her eyes, and burped.
Sebastian, by her side, remained calm amidst the chaos, handling things methodically.
Admiring him, Isabella covered her mouth to remain quiet.
She continued to listen to what Grace was saying, pondering why Grace had mentioned her.
Inside Marcus' room, there was a moment of silence, followed by the arrival of a storm.
Mrs. Cooper's eyes were thoroughly red, and her expression twisted with unexpressed hatred.
Releasing Mr. Cooper, she quickly walked over to Grace and slapped her.
Grace covered her face, screaming, "You must be crazy! You old woman! Do you know who you just hit?"
"Slap!" Mrs. Cooper immediately slapped her again.
This time, the force was even stronger, instantly knocking Grace to the ground.
"Do I know who I just hit? Grace, you're a murderer! A murderer who came to our door! You hurt my son, and you dare come here?! You're looking for death!"
"What? It was you?" Marcus, just awakened and very weak, had a fast-thinking mind when it came to Isabella, "You hired someone to kill Isabella..."
Marcus' weak body was trembling non-stop, "You are truly a vicious woman..."
"Dad, call the police." He told Mr. Cooper
Grace, lying on the corridor floor and covering her face, glared at Mrs. Cooper with resentment.
After hearing what Marcus said, she shifted her gaze and quickly shouted at him, "Marcus, you can't call the police on me."
"Can't? What nonsense are you talking about?!"
"It was I who made you understand that Isabella loves you," Grace said, her eyes red and wide, "You should thank me! It was I who put you in that life-and-death situation together and gave you the chance to play the hero."
"So, Marcus, you can't call the police on me; I'm your benefactor; you should go to Isabella and ask her to let me go, to let my family go."
Grace continued to fabricate a twisted story, "Isabella, for you, committed herself to Sebastian. She let Sebastian punish me and my family, this is such deep love."
Isabella gasped; what nonsense was Grace talking about?!
She needed to send this vile woman straight to the police station!
She couldn't let Grace continue to talk nonsense.
Isabella stood up.
