Chapter 255 Wallace's Assistant, Just Give In

The drink! The problem was with this bottle of drink! From her observation, she and Sebastian were the only ones drinking it! Isabella set down the bottle and sprang to her feet, racing toward the guesthouse.

Thomas Sawyer stood up and shouted anxiously, "Assistant Wallace, what's happened?"

"Yeah, what's wrong with Assistant Wallace?"

"Assistant Wallace?"

Thomas Sawyer waved his hand to signal the others to stay calm, his brow furrowed, "I'll go see what’s going on, everyone. Don't worry."

He strode after her, and in the shadows, a triumphant smirk played across his lips. The pretty little lady, he was coming for her.

Isabella couldn't hear anything but the buzzing in her ears. She forgot the pain Sebastian had caused her, the humiliation he had brought her – her mind was consumed with preventing Isabella Thompson's scheme from succeeding.

Sebastian was such a neat, clean person, who knew if Isabella Thompson was decent! She didn't want anyone else to touch Sebastian.

‘No, it couldn't happen! Sebastian, nothing better happens to you!’ Isabella charged into the guesthouse, starting her search on the first floor, knocking on each door.

Searching like this was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Although the company had reserved most of the guesthouse and it was primarily occupied by company employees, there were other guests as well, and Isabella unavoidably faced some scolding when knocking on doors.

The remaining rooms were either locked or empty.

Isabella knocked on every door of the first and second floors, but still, she hadn't found them.

‘Isabella's Breaking Point’

Time was of the essence, and Isabella knew she had to act fast. Sebastian, without a doubt, was under the influence of the drug coursing through his veins, and her own strength was waning rapidly.

Isabella rushed into the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and scooped up several handfuls of ice-cold water, splashing it liberally across her face.

The effects were somewhat revitalizing.

Biting her lip, Isabella pinched her thigh hard, using the surge of pain to stimulate her nerves and maintain some semblance of clarity. Seizing the moment, she took out her cellphone.

As she held her phone, a bitter smile played on her lips. Even now, she had yet to give up on Sebastian – in her panic, she had forgotten to call him.

‘How weak of her!’ Isabella's thumb was hovering over her contacts list when—“Click.” The bathroom door shut from the inside with someone locking it behind them.

Leaning against the sink, Isabella turned her head, her eyes landing on the unmistakable silhouette of Thomas Sawyer!

So, it seemed today's incident was inextricably linked to Thomas Sawyer.

Her instincts had not deceived her; it was Thomas who had caressed the back of her hand, who had handed her the drugged drink – Thomas had known all along.

The plot was clear that Isabella Thompson and Thomas Sawyer were in cahoots!

Resorting to such a sordid and underhanded tactic as drugging a drink was a fragile scheme, easily burst. How could they dare do this? Were they not afraid of Sebastian's retaliation afterward?

Or perhaps... they were already tainted, desperate to climb into Sebastian's bed and seize an opportunity to rise like a phoenix from the ashes, to cover their own corruption?

Isabella couldn’t help but acknowledge that her time learning from Sebastian had indeed sharpened her mind.

But one question nagged at her: Why drug her? To discover her real identity, capture her in a compromising position, and then blackmail her into whispering sweet nothings in Sebastian’s ear?

While that theory held some weight, a closer inspection revealed it was utterly flawed. If they truly knew who she was, they’d realize an heiress cast aside had little leverage.

Looking to exploit her position as an assistant, perhaps as a spy? Or maybe it was just lust? No matter the motive, Thomas Sawyer and Isabella Thompson were plotting against both Sebastian and herself!

If they were going to resort to such filthy tricks, they had no right to cry foul when she fought back. Even a cornered rabbit will bite in desperation.

Isabella resolved not only to leave that bathroom but also to expose Thomas Sawyer's conspiracy. Sebastian had likely kept Thomas on because without sufficient evidence he won’t be able to bring him down.

Well, that leverage was about to be hers! Isabella turned her back, her fingers trembling as they pressed on an app icon. Then she tucked her phone into her pocket.

Bending over, Isabella splashed water on her face. Before she could splash herself a second time, a portly shadow loomed over her. She could not deny her fear.

Gripping the edge of the sink, blue veins subtly stood out on the backs of her hands. She gritted her teeth and turned around.

Thomas Sawyer stood with his arms open, attempting to embrace her.

Isabella felt sick to her stomach. She extended her hand, pressing it against Thomas Sawyer's chest, her voice icy, "CEO Sawyer, what do you mean by this?"

Thomas's eyes were fixated on her, his tongue greedily licking his lips, suddenly looking greasy as if he'd smeared them with lard.

Isabella nearly retched.

"Assistant Wallace, what do you think?" Thomas stared intently at Isabella, his hands grabbing the one she had pressed to his chest rubbing it up and down. "Assistant Wallace, do you know how anxious I've been just waiting for this opportunity?"

Isabella, fighting the discomfort and disgust, pulled her hand away. "CEO Sawyer, with your resources, you can have any woman you want. Why do you bother with me?"

She looked up, managing a faint smile, "Let me go, CEO Sawyer."

Sweat beaded Isabella's forehead; her cheeks were flushed, as radiant as peach blossoms. Hair fell casually around her temples, adding a hint of allure.

Moreover, Isabella was still smiling.

Thomas was going mad, his limited wits emptied, leaving only the beautiful woman before him. He chuckled, "Assistant Wallace, no need for modesty. You are so beautiful; finding another woman like you would be difficult. Besides, you have value."

He shamelessly tried to touch Isabella's cheek.

Isabella turned her face away.

"Assistant Wallace, what will it be, if you refuse the give in must you suffer the penalty?" Thomas's voice grew colder, "You're no saint, a mistress that's already been ruined by Mr. Lawrence. Stop pretending!"

It seemed that he was aware of her special relationship with Sebastian; but oblivious to the fact that she was Mrs. Lawrence. This was not surprising to Isabella; even the rank-and-file staff knew, so it was no shock that Thomas would know.

Yet, she acted incredulous and panicked. "How could you know that?"

Thomas laughed loudly, "To keep something secret, one must not do it at all!"

He closed in on Isabella. "Assistant Wallace, just give in."

‘CEO Sawyer...’

Isabella stepped to the side, "I've come this far; there's no turning back. But before I proceed, you need to tell me what I'm worth to you. What exactly do you need me for? It's only fair to explain before I get to work, right?"

"Smart as always, Wallace," Thomas Sawyer remarked. "Once you return to headquarters, I need you to keep an eye on Mr. Lawrence's every move. If he makes any play for the San Francisco branch, you have to tell me beforehand."

Isabella wanted to slap him. What a despicable man!

"What's wrong? Assistant Wallace disagrees?"
