Chapter 457 You're Opposing Sebastian

The family doc gave her a few pointers and then, with his assistant, went off to report to Samuel.

Isabella was still soaked, lying on the bed, making it all damp.

She quickly got up, hopped off the bed, looked around, spotted some tissues, and hurriedly grabbed a few to wipe the water off the bed.

The water had already seeped in, and there wasn't much Isabella could do about it.

"No need. If you're staying, take the room on the north side," Samuel said with a smile from behind her.

Isabella straightened up, tossed the tissues into the trash, and turned around to see Samuel leaning against the door, smiling at her.

"No, really, it's not necessary," Isabella said, feeling awkward under Samuel's gaze and waving her hand to refuse him.

Samuel crossed his arms, raised his sharp chin, and gestured for Isabella to look out the window. "It's still raining. In your condition, it's really not a good idea to go out. Besides, aren't you hiding from someone? This is the best place."

He listed the perks one by one, "Don't worry, there won't be any negative consequences. I don't stay here; I'm leaving soon."

He stood up straight, raised his hand, and a look of helplessness flashed across his handsome face. "We're friends. I'm leaving now. Whether you stay or go is up to you, but if you want to keep the babies, wait until the rain stops tomorrow. Also, the doc just said your body can't handle any more stress."

With that, Isabella, not being ungrateful, replied, "Thank you."

Samuel stretched lazily, "It's nothing."

He raised his wrist and glanced at the time, "I have a meeting to attend, so I'm off."

"Oh, by the way," Samuel took a few steps and then turned back. "Did you know that Lynda was taken away by the police?"

For the first time, Isabella's pale face showed an expression other than indifference. She was stunned for a few seconds, her mouth open in surprise, "This isn't a dream? It's real?"

"Of course," Samuel smirked. "I called the police, bribed Ruth to turn herself in, and led the cops to the engagement scene to expose Lynda's plot to sabotage the car brakes."

He said this with some pride, "Touched?"

Isabella was astonished. At that time, she was so dazed that she couldn't tell if seeing Lynda being taken away was a dream or reality.

She was already grateful to Samuel, and now that he had helped send Lynda to the police, she would remember this favor well.

"Thank you," Isabella said, not knowing what else to say, "Really, thank you."

Actually, Isabella had already resigned herself to the fact that Lynda wouldn't be punished, but Samuel had given her a pleasant surprise.

Samuel raised an eyebrow, "If you're really thankful, don't be so polite. We're friends."

Samuel knew that Sebastian would also punish Lynda.

Sebastian's methods were no less severe than sending Lynda to prison.

After all, what Lynda cared about most was marrying a wealthy man and entering a rich family. Sebastian destroying what she cared about most would make her feel more desperate than going to jail.

However, Samuel had his own motives.

He didn't know why Isabella didn't want to see Sebastian, but he knew they had a falling out. If Isabella knew that Sebastian was also willing to punish Lynda, they might reconcile. So, he decided to keep that bit to himself.

"Samuel, by helping me like this, aren't you going against Sebastian?" Isabella's thoughts started to clear up, and she suddenly gasped, "Your car has a license plate. Won't helping me leave be traced back to you?"

It could be traced back, but Samuel didn't care.

"I did nothing wrong," he said, "If I did nothing wrong, what does it matter if they trace it back to me? Unless..."

Samuel dragged out his words, "Did you do something to wrong Mr. Lawrence, and that's why you don't want to see him?"

Isabella's face darkened, and she shook her head firmly, "No, never!"

Only Sebastian had wronged her. Reflecting on the past, Isabella couldn't find a single instance where she had wronged Sebastian.

What was once love turned out to be a scam, and her paradise was now hell. It was truly ridiculous.

Laughing, Isabella's mouth filled with bitterness.

Samuel guessed that Sebastian must have done something to hurt Isabella deeply, and he was quite pleased to see this situation.

Knowing he wouldn't get any answers from Isabella, Samuel didn't ask further.

He raised an eyebrow mischievously and smiled. "Don't worry, get some rest. I'm off."

He raised his hand, waved twice, and this time, he really left.

After Samuel left, Isabella was led by Oliver to a room on the north side.

Once alone, the pain began to creep into her heart. She was confused, and desperately needed rest.

After a quick shower, Isabella got into bed, turned off her phone, and lay down with her eyes closed.

Knowing such a painful truth, how could Isabella sleep? She stared at the ceiling, her eyes reddening.

Tears threatened to spill, but Isabella tried hard to keep them in, even pinching her thigh harshly.

In this dazed state, Isabella lost track of time and didn't even hear someone calling her for dinner outside the room.

At the hospital, a low-key and confidential minor surgery was underway.

Kaine paced back and forth in the hospital, his heart racing. Following Sebastian's instructions, he tried to contact Samuel. But after several attempts, there was still no word from Samuel.

With no news from Samuel and no updates on the surgery, if he had a choice, Kaine would have opened a window and jumped out.

He had planned to watch a movie with Emily that evening. Emily had bought a new projector and wanted to test it out.

Now Kaine felt that the projector could project his entire life.

If something happened to Sebastian, even dying wouldn't be enough to atone for it.

The door to the operating room opened, and the red light went off. Kaine held his breath and approached.

"Doctor, how is he?" Kaine stuttered.

The doctor removed his mask and smiled kindly. "Don't worry, Kaine. The surgery was minor and very successful. Mr. Lawrence's condition isn't serious; he should wake up in a few hours."

"Will there be any aftereffects?" Kaine asked.

"No, the injury is on the forehead, not a critical area. A couple of days of rest, and he'll be fully recovered."

"That's good," Kaine closed his eyes, finally able to breathe evenly, "That's good."

"However," the doctor's tone shifted, carrying a warning, "Mr. Lawrence recently had another surgery. This is the second time. Kaine, remind Mr. Lawrence to be more careful."
