Chapter 476 Laura is Isabella's deceased mother.

"Really? Who?"

"We haven't figured that out yet. It's super well-hidden. Plus, the Carter family is pulling strings behind the scenes, keeping everyone in the dark. It's tough for us here in Maple Valley to get any info on Silvercrest."

Sebastian asked, "Alright, what's going on with Samuel? What's he doing?"

Kaine replied, "Samuel's been busting his butt trying to find this mystery person, even checked out the nursing home. No luck though. We heard he's heading to the cemetery now. Not sure if he's actually going there, but if he is, he's looking for someone who's already passed."

Sebastian stayed stone-faced, "Alive or dead, find out."

"Yes, Mr. Lawrence."

Maple Valley Cemetery.

The wind howled, blowing the last of the dried-up yellow leaves from the trees.

Rows of tombstones stood tall.

On the tombstones, grayish-white photos and red epitaphs.

They were glaring. Everything felt so heavy.

Samuel felt nothing.

The rumored Laura, who left home for love, had been gone for years before he joined the Carter family.

Samuel had never seen her.

She hid well, and the domineering Nathan was furious. For nearly thirty years, there had been no news at all. When Nathan sent him to find her, the only photo he had was of Laura at eighteen.

So, Samuel had no feelings.

Even if this Laura was really dead, his heart wouldn't ache.

Besides, Samuel had been searching for months in vain.

This time, he didn't believe he would find anything in the cemetery. He had several leads, and the reason he came to the cemetery first was that it was the least likely possibility.

Samuel followed the address precisely to the target location.

In front of the tombstone, Samuel looked ahead.

Caught off guard by the photo on the tombstone, Samuel was shocked.

The photo on the tombstone was exactly the same as the one Nathan had given him, it was the same photo.

What shocked Samuel even more was the person who erected the tombstone!

He couldn't believe it, his pupils contracted, and his eyes widened!

At this moment, Samuel's mind was unprecedentedly empty, roaring inside.

He stood there for a long time, his feet seemingly rooted to the ground, unable to move.

Those cunning eyes now became pure, staring straight at the words on the tombstone, unblinking.

Samuel didn't dare to breathe loudly, and it took him a while to regain some composure.

He blinked in disbelief, then refocused his gaze.

The word "Isabella" was clear and dazzling, truly appearing before his eyes.

Now, Samuel could truly confirm that Laura was Isabella's deceased mother!

Laura had changed her name and then passed away. The Wallace family had a new mistress, so Laura's remaining traces almost disappeared, making it impossible to find her.

Everything was clear now.

But, Isabella was Laura's daughter.

This was both shocking and reasonable!

In this world, the proportion of people with special blood types was very small. How could it be such a coincidence that Samuel's blood type matched Isabella's?

Fate had already destined everything.

A sense of luck sprouted in Samuel's heart.

He never thought that God would be so generous to him, binding him and Isabella with such a deep bond from a very young age. Fueled by a morning buzz, he had blurted out his feelings, feeling a bit unsure.

But by the afternoon, he was dead set.

Isabella was Laura's daughter, the Carter family's young lady.

Among all the Carter heirs, he stood out, and he was destined to marry Isabella.

Facing the wind, Samuel laughed heartily, his eyes sparkling with genuine joy.

He didn't hide it this time; his expression was downright enchanting.

"Aunt Laura," Samuel said, staring at the photo on the tombstone, his voice filled with confident determination, "I promise to take good care of Isabella and get her away from those who hurt her."

After making his vow, he bowed deeply.

The wind rustled the pine trees beside the tombstone, making a faint sound, like a distant response.

Samuel didn't linger in the cemetery; he knew Sebastian's people were tailing him.

He had to be cautious around Sebastian.

Samuel had no plans to tell Isabella about her background right away, nor did he intend to inform Nathan in Silvercrest.

Now wasn't the right time.

As for when to spill the beans, Samuel hadn't decided yet.

He thought, 'Isabella needs to completely cut ties with Maple Valley. Only then will she willingly go to Silvercrest. Isabella grew up in Maple Valley; this is her home.'

Figuring out how to get Isabella to leave Maple Valley was a puzzle that needed careful thought.

Samuel squinted, gritted his teeth, and pondered.

To avoid suspicion, he hung around the cemetery a bit longer before moving on to other spots, pretending to keep searching.

Samuel's act was convincing; he wouldn't let Sebastian uncover Isabella's background.

Sebastian's people silently followed Samuel, but they hadn't figured out who Samuel was looking for.

Willowbrook Estate.

In a room on the first floor, Isabella kept sneezing.

She thought, 'Is someone talking about me behind my back?'

Isabella pressed her index finger against her nose, rubbed it twice, and went back to her book.

Soon, the afternoon flying by, night falling, it was time to see Sebastian and Lynda again for dinner.

Isabella stared blankly, quietly gazing outside, every pore on her body rejecting and loathing.

She sat there, waiting to be dragged out and humiliated, but it didn't happen.

A servant knocked on her door, bringing dinner, "Ma'am, call me when you're done eating, and I'll clean up."

Isabella was surprised, "I don't have to go out?"

"I don't know about that, Carl asked me to bring you dinner."

"Okay, thank you."

Half an hour ago, Isabella saw Sebastian's car drive in. She thought, 'Sebastian must be back. Did he actually let go of the chance to humiliate me?'

Isabella wasn't a masochist; this was better. She could enjoy a meal in peace and get a good night's sleep.

After dinner, Isabella thought for a moment, got up, and took the tray out herself.

She had been cooped up in this little room all afternoon, feeling stifled. She thought, 'I can't go out for now, but I can at least leave this room, right?'
