Chapter 107 The Gift I Bought, But Won't Admit

Inside the elevator, Isabella's fingers incessantly tapped on the glass. Observing her fidgety motion, Sebastian calmly asked, "Is there something unsavory hidden inside that paper bag?"

"Yes!" Isabella retorted irritably, "That's why I wanted to hide it. Why did you let Kaine retrieve it?"

"I can't take a look?"

"I've already said it contains something unsavory. Can you look at it? Unless you're not human!"

As soon as the words escaped her lips, Isabella began to regret her outburst. She spoke without thinking, driven by anger. Criticizing Sebastian so directly made her... shudder.

Glancing sideways at him, Sebastian maintained his composure, only uttering, "Then I must take a good look. Just how unsavory is it?"

Isabella fell silent.

Stepping out of the elevator, Sebastian strode towards his office with a steady gait, exuding a sense of authority. Watching his poised figure, Isabella stealthily tipped her toes and prepared to slip back into her own office. However, it seemed as though Sebastian had eyes on his back, for he asked, "Where are you going?"

"I... Of course, I'm heading back to my own office."

"Come in."

Isabella was about to respond, but Sebastian's voice resounded once again, "I don't want to repeat myself."

She gritted her teeth and, as she entered the CEO's office, cast a glare at Kaine by the door.

Kaine portrayed himself as innocent. Even though he hadn't opened the bag to see what was inside, the word "logs" was clearly visible, impossible to overlook.

Sebastian immediately noticed the item placed neatly on his desk. It was a brand specializing in men's products. No wonder Kaine found it puzzling.

Sebastian turned around, casting a glance at Isabella. "What did you buy?"

"It's all here; don't you know how to have a look yourself?"

"For whom did you buy it?" His voice grew deep, tinged with a hint of danger. "Hmm?"

"For my own use."

"It's a men's brand."

Refusing to back down, Isabella replied stubbornly, "Just because it's for men, can't women use it? Are you sexist?"

"It'd better not be for Marcus."

"What are you thinking..." Isabella's face was filled with exasperation. "I have so much money, I wouldn't spend a penny on him."

Sebastian's lips curled slightly as he walked towards his desk. His slender fingers reached into the bag, ready to unwrap its contents.

Isabella stood motionless, silent like a child being punished for misbehavior.

Within the office, the sound of rustling filled the air as ribbons, box lids, and small containers were undone... Finally, a pen appeared before Sebastian's eyes. Momentarily startled, he picked it up, glancing at the other pens commonly used on his desk.

A brand, just slightly different in style, he's used to using pens from this brand.

So... this is the gift Isabella bought for him yesterday?

All the displeasure and frustration in his heart vanished in this moment.

Sebastian held the pen and turned to look at her: "Did you buy it for me?"

"Of course not!" Isabella immediately denied, "Why would I buy a pen for you?"

"Generally, when a woman denies something so quickly, it's usually because she feels guilty."
"I said it's not, so it's not."

"Then who did you buy it for?"

Isabella pondered for a moment and replied, “I bought it for myself.”

"Hmm?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "That excuse doesn't seem very clever. If you had said you bought it for your dad, maybe I would have believed you a bit."

"Yes, I bought it for my dad," Isabella said, walking up, trying to snatch it back, "Give it back to me!"

Sebastian effortlessly held it high above her.

Due to the height difference, Isabella couldn’t reach it at all, no matter if she tiptoed or jumped!

She was boiling with anger!

"Sebastian!" she said, looking cute but genuinely angry, "Give it back to me!"

"Why buy a gift for me but deny it and not give it to me?"

"I already said it's not for you!"

Sebastian looked down at her, still holding the pen high: "Do you think I would believe that? Or that I'm so easily fooled?"

"How dare you snatch someone else's things, Sebastian!"

"Why did I receive a text message about my card being used yesterday? It turns out it was you," he said, "Well, I accept this gesture of yours."

Isabella was angry but helpless.

No matter what, she wouldn't admit that she bought this gift for Sebastian.

If she had walked in yesterday and seen a different scene, this gift would have been in Sebastian's hands long ago.

And Isabella really intended to keep it for herself!!!

It's just a pen, and there are times when she can use it too! Who said only Sebastian can use pens from this brand!

She glared at him and retracted her hand: "Fine, if you insist on saying it's for you, then I'll go along with it. It's just a pen, I'll buy another one for myself."

Sebastian's fingertips caressed the pen gently as he asked, "Why didn't you give it to me yesterday?"

How could he ask that... Isabella didn’t know how he could ask so boldly.

Only someone shameless could ask such a question!

“I had no intention of giving it to you.”

"You came in without knocking yesterday because you wanted to give me this gift," Sebastian said, "But you didn't expect Lynda to be here."

Isabella didn’t want to recall the scene from yesterday.

She turned her head away: "You can think whatever you want."

"Well, think whatever you want. If there's nothing else, I should be leaving," Sebastian said, gripping the pen and looking up at her.

Isabella turned around and walked out without even glancing back at him.

What a happy thing it was originally to give him a gift. Unexpectedly, it ended up like this.

Sebastian, this is the first gift I've ever given you, and it will also be the last.

I shouldn't have been so presumptuous, thinking highly of myself.

As Brittany said, "I love you," but I refuse to admit it. How could I possibly love you?

Immersed in her emotions, Isabella walked with her head down, not paying much attention to what was in front of her. She almost bumped into someone and accidentally stepped on their foot.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... oh? Joshua?" Isabella quickly apologized. "I didn't do it on purpose... uh?"

Joshua stood in front of her, a smile on his face, appearing approachable without any airs. "Mrs. Lawrence, you should watch where you're going when walking. If Mr. Lawrence were to see you throwing yourself at me, he'd surely get jealous."

He had the nerve to joke around.

Looking at him, Isabella suddenly remembered something Brittany once said, "People in New York think Sebastian and Joshua are from wealthy backgrounds, with exceptional abilities and an immeasurable amount of wealth. But in reality, both of them are heartless and ruthless."
