Chapter 122 Oh My God, Who, is this Immortal Husband?
"I know. But what if she comes after me?"
"That's true," Brittany sighed. "She brought up the Watson family matter to you, it's practically a declaration of war. She wants to prove to you that even though you are Mrs. Lawrence, Sebastian's loved one is her and she is a thousand times more important than you."
Isabella was about to say something when the phone on the table started ringing. She looked at the caller ID on the screen — "The Great Demon King."
Brittany also saw it and asked, "Who is it?"
"...Sebastian."
Isabella stood up and said, "I have to go back. Thank you, Brittany."
"Thank you again," Brittany intentionally put on a poker face, "If you do this again next time, I won't have coffee with you."
"Okay, okay, okay, I'll change next time. And Brittany, there are thousands of good men in the world, why are you so fixated on Joshua? He is about to get engaged; you should find someone new soon."
"I am looking, but these things just happen naturally, don't they?"
But in reality... Brittany was scared.
She was afraid of giving her heart sincerely, afraid of falling in love again and being abandoned mercilessly.
"Although all men are idiots, both Sebastian and Joshua are, there are still good men out there."
Isabella gestured a flying kiss towards her, "Goodbye."
Brittany smiled; her eyes crescent-shaped.
Isabella herself was trapped in such a dilemma, yet she still had the heart to comfort her. She was truly a cute and foolish girl.
After returning to the Lawrence Group, Isabella went straight into the CEO's office.
As usual, she stood next to his desk, sorting through documents, reading and recording them, and asking him why he did certain things.
Sebastian answered one by one.
Finally, he asked, "Is it adjusted?"
"Yes." Isabella smiled; her eyes narrowed. "We have to carry on, right? At least for a year."
Sebastian lowered his gaze. "It should have been like this a long time ago."
"People always have a bit of a rebellious mentality. After enough setbacks and hardships, they will know to be obedient," Isabella said.
"What do you want to eat for lunch?" he asked. "It's almost time to get off work."
The most expensive one!!
Isabella's eyes lit up. "I wonder if there's...in New York..."
"Mr. Lawrence." The office door suddenly knocked and Kaine's voice interrupted her.
"Come in."
Kaine walked in and handed the documents to Sebastian, then turned to Isabella, "Madam, Miss Emily came to see you today."
"Emily?"
"Yes, she said to call her back when you have time."
That reminded Isabella to check her phone.
"Ah...Okay, did she say anything?"
Kaine pondered for a moment. "It seems like she mentioned wanting to invite you and Mr. Lawrence for a meal, as a way of expressing gratitude."
Before Isabella could say anything, Sebastian's displeased voice sounded, "I'm busy."
Kaine wore an expression that said, "I knew it."
It wasn't just any ordinary gathering; Mr. Lawrence would always attend.
With so many people wanting to invite Mr. Lawrence, if they were to form a queue, it would be an incredibly long one.
Sebastian had finally managed to persuade Isabella to have a meal alone together, and now someone else was interfering!
Ever since Lynda had returned, there hadn't been a single thing that had pleased him.
"Weren't you just talking about having a meal? How come you're suddenly busy?" Isabella asked.
"What's the matter, don’t you think highly of Emily's invitation?"
"She invited both you and I, are you sure?"
"Well then," Isabella suddenly smiled sweetly, "since you don't care about these things anyway, why don't you treat us? And... Kaine too!"
Half an hour later.
In an upscale Japanese restaurant in New York.
Kaine and Emily sat together, while Sebastian and Isabella sat together.
The two girls were happily chatting and smiling, their laughter radiant. As for the two men...
Sebastian had a cold expression on his face, and Kaine had troubles he couldn't express.
Emily was the type of person who easily got close to others, with a good-natured and laid-back personality.
She didn't feel any awkwardness at all. She raised her glass and said, "Mr. Lawrence, I've always wanted to thank you, but unfortunately, I never found the opportunity. Today, no matter what, I must toast to you!"
Sebastian replied expressionlessly, "You're welcome."
"I've always told Bella that she must have saved the galaxy in her past life to be able to meet you and marry you. She's a hundred thousand times better off without that Marcus jerk!"
"Look at you, Mr. Lawrence, tall, handsome, and wealthy. You're perfect in every aspect, effortlessly outshining countless other men. Most importantly, you're responsible and dependable. You mention marriage, and you immediately apply for a marriage certificate, and once it's issued, you publicly announce the news!"
"Mr. Lawrence, not only have you solved all of Bella's problems, but you've also helped her vent her anger several times! Not only that, but you even remember to take care of me, her friend. Oh my, what a heavenly husband you are!"
"Here, I raise a toast to you and Bella, wishing you a happy married life, a hundred years of happiness, and the early arrival of a noble heir!"
Emily showered Sebastian with abundant flattery, and unexpectedly, his perennial icy demeanor... loosened somewhat!
Suddenly, his lips curled into a slight smile, and he raised his glass, saying, "Thank you."
"Cheers, cheers!"
Isabella couldn't help but doubt her own eyes.
Clearly, Sebastian had been sulking when she forced him to come here, with "I'm not happy" written all over his face.
How did he suddenly change like that?
She secretly admired him.
Isabella bumped her elbow against him and asked, "Sebastian, are you... okay?"
"Do you hope I'm not?" he replied.
"That's not what I meant..." Isabella lowered her voice, "I thought you wouldn't clink glasses with Emily."
Sebastian reached out and held her wrist, resting it on his knee. "Your best friend is quite interesting," he remarked.
Isabella pursed her lips.
"Well, if anyone were to receive compliments like that, it would be interesting."
"Do you think what she said is wrong then?"
"That's because I haven't told her the truth," Isabella answered. "How she got her job, how we got married, and how you don't really care about her... She has no idea. That's why she says you're good."
Sebastian asked in a calm tone, "Isn't her job something I took care of?"
"Well... that was clearly an exchange between you and me!" Isabella retorted.
"Exchange? How and when did that happen?"
"You..."
Isabella glared at him, "Don't you have any clue in your mind!"
Sebastian honestly replied, "I don't."
"..."
Isabella fell silent.
"She's your best friend," Sebastian asked again, "why are you hiding everything from her?"
Isabella explained, "I don't want her to worry about me."
As the two whispered to each other, Emily saw it and assumed they were just an affectionate couple.
She had an expression that seemed to say, "I understand."
Isabella sat up straight, silently picked up the glass on the table, and was about to take a sip, but Sebastian reached out and took it from her hand.
"This is alcohol, you can't drink it."
"...then what can I drink?"
"Water, juice, milk, any of those will do."
