Chapter 156 The Importance of Timing in Life
Joshua said he had feelings for Isabella.
Is it true that those involved are confused while the onlookers are clear-minded?
Is he really just trash? With one in his heart and another by his side.
But Isabella's presence is only for Lynda to stay with him.
"Knock, knock, knock"
The sound of a knock suddenly awakened the two individuals lost in their complicated thoughts.
"Mr. Lawrence," the servant said, "the hangover soup has arrived. Can I bring it in now?"
Sebastian got up, walked to the door, and took the tray, bringing it in himself.
By the time he returned, Isabella had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep.
Sebastian looked at the hangover soup, then at her, and let out a sigh, "You kept complaining of dizziness. Now that the hangover soup is here, you fall asleep. If you don't have a sip, you'll feel even dizzier and, in more pain, tomorrow."
He gently placed the tray down and turned to go to the bathroom.
After hearing the bathroom door click shut, Isabella, lying on the bed, dared to open her eyes.
She could only pretend to sleep, otherwise, she wouldn't be able to face Sebastian again.
The taste of deceiving someone... is truly unpleasant.
Isabella didn't know whether Sebastian felt any better after deceiving her for so long, only to reveal the truth when Lynda returned.
She closed her eyes again, but at that moment, all that kept flashing through Isabella's mind were the words Anthony had said.
Sebastian and Lynda never really got together...
They were merely ambiguous...
The window paper hasn't been torn yet...
Each sentence echoed in her ears; every word clear.
Perhaps Sebastian, who had been born into a privileged life, had no clue about love and feelings.
But upon reconsideration, Isabella suddenly understood. The order of appearance in one's life is crucial.
Lynda met him first, knew him first, and got closer to him first, which meant that she has already won ninety-nine percent, hadn’t she?
As her thoughts became overwhelming, Isabella drifted off to sleep.
At the Lawrence Group.
The car parked in front of the company, and the security guard hurriedly ran over to open the door.
Sebastian got out of the car and glanced back.
The on-duty security guard was observant and immediately went to open the other door.
"No need, thank you," Isabella had already stepped out of the car, "Good morning."
The security guard was pleasantly surprised, "Good morning, Mrs. Lawrence."
"I'm also an employee of the company, no need for Mrs. Lawrence," Isabella smiled, her eyes crescent-shaped like a moon, "Just call me by my name."
"I wouldn't dare otherwise."
Sebastian turned his head and saw her chatting happily with the security guard, while he received cold remarks from her.
This added to his unhappiness. He sighed coldly and walked quickly into the company building.
Isabella casually flicked her hair and leisurely said, "This Mr. Lawrence, he's good in every way, tall, handsome, and wealthy, but his temper is a bit poor, don't you think?"
The security guard didn't dare to answer her.
Isabella watched Sebastian enter the company gate, then turned on her tiptoes and walked away.
She went to a convenience store not far away.
Talking to the security guard and annoying Sebastian was all intentional on her part.
The two of them hadn't spoken to each other all morning, engaged in a silent war.
Isabella was used to Sebastian's unpredictable moods, so she just focused on her own tasks.
To cover up, Isabella bought a lot of items at the convenience store, filling up a basket, and casually threw a pregnancy test inside.
If she only bought the pregnancy test, it would appear too deliberate and be easily remembered by the cashier.
Carrying her bag, Isabella confidently returned to the company and distributed the snacks she bought to her colleagues in the secretary's office.
Afterward, she finally returned to her own office.
Once the door closed, Isabella quickly searched for the pregnancy test and stuffed it into her bag. Her heart was pounding like thunder, and she was nervous beyond belief.
She didn't know what she was afraid of; she had already successfully bought the item.
Now, it was time to go to the bathroom and take the test.
However, she had just arrived at the company, and going to the bathroom now would seem a bit too deliberate, right?
Isabella decided to take her time.
Inside the CEO's office, Sebastian glanced at Kaine. "Buying snacks?"
"Yes, when Mrs. Lawrence arrived, she had a bag from the convenience store, filled to the brim," Kaine replied.
So, Isabella didn't come in with him, she went shopping instead.
But why did she buy so many snacks?
Seeing Sebastian frown in thought, Kaine smiled and said, "Mr. Lawrence, you might not understand. Girls love to eat and enjoy all kinds of snacks. I reckon Mrs. Lawrence wants them in the office for a little indulgence."
"She rarely eats snacks at home."
"It's different at the company, work pressure is amazing. The secretaries' drawers are filled with all sorts of snacks, a wide variety of them."
Sebastian glanced at Kaine again, "How do you know this so well?"
"Well, girls, you know," Kaine said, "They're mostly the same, with minor differences."
"It seems like you have quite some experiences in that field, which I didn't expect."
Kaine felt a bit embarrassed, "Mr. Lawrence, it's not experience, it's common knowledge... common knowledge..."
"Is that so?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow, "Then you and Emily have been getting close lately, going out for meals and movies for no reason, is that also common knowledge and not considered dating experience?"
"Mr. Lawrence, I... I... I..."
"Changed your address too, huh?"
"Alright, no need to explain."
Kaine couldn't defend himself. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn't dare to confront his boss.
"Anyway," Kaine scratched his head, "Mr. Lawrence, women are like this."
Sebastian made a grunt in response and didn't say anything more.
He briefly remembered that in the morning, she hadn't eaten much, only had a few sips of soy milk and half a boiled egg.
"Wait a moment," Sebastian called out to Kaine, "Arrange for the supermarket downstairs to deliver some snacks."
Kaine understood and nodded, "Yes, Mr. Lawrence."
Isabella sat in her office, feeling restless. She couldn't sit still and kept walking here and there. Time seemed to be passing so slowly.
In the meantime, she had already drunk two glasses of water.
The pregnancy test kit and a stack of tissues were already stuffed in her pocket, waiting for the right time to go to the restroom.
Finally, when Isabella felt she could make a move, she clenched her fist silently, giving herself courage, and walked towards the door with confident strides.
"Ouch..."
Just as she opened the door, Isabella collided with someone and stumbled back a few steps.
Looking towards the entrance, she saw a delivery guy carrying two boxes that were almost half his height. She couldn't even see his face.
Moreover, due to the collision, the stacked boxes became crooked and seemed like they were about to fall.
Isabella quickly reached out and held onto them, preventing them from falling.
To her surprise, the boxes looked big but were relatively light, so she had no trouble carrying them at all.
