Chapter 136 Be Good, and I'll Give You What You Want
His hand wrapped tightly around her waist, gradually releasing its grip.
"You've already given me enough, I'm not greedy. I won't compete with Lynda for anything, so you don't have to worry," she said softly.
"I will fulfill our agreement and give you a child."
And then... she turned to leave.
Sebastian said slowly, "You're rejecting me."
"What else do you want to give me? Money? You've given me enough, really. Fame? I'm already part of the New York upper circle, what more fame... Lynda may not be Mrs. Lawrence yet, but she is even more prestigious than the current Mrs. Lawrence."
"I gave you a chance to make demands. Isabella, it's your own failure to cherish," he said, his gaze complex.
"I've made myself clear," she replied.
Sebastian looked at her with a complicated gaze.
"Anyway, before I let you go, you will never be able to leave me."
"Oh..."
Isabella suddenly laughed.
"So, you're worried that I'll leave. That's why you want to give me something to keep me by your side?"
"You can't leave."
"Yes, the Wallace family still relies on you to make a comeback. My grandmother hasn't recovered, and I haven't conceived your child yet..."
"Enough."
Sebastian didn't want to hear any more.
"It's enough that you understand."
He didn't want to confront the increasingly real thoughts in his heart.
He was afraid of Isabella leaving, and he wanted to give her something to make her stay.
Anything would do, as long as he had it, as long as... she wanted it.
But unfortunately, Isabella didn't want anything.
"Well, can you release me now?" she asked. "You’re hurting me."
The pressure on her waist completely loosened.
Sebastian's hands hung at his sides.
"Be good, and I'll give you what you want."
Isabella was about to leave, but his words made her change her mind.
She smiled enchantingly. "What if I want to provoke Lynda?"
"You can provoke anyone except her."
"I don't want to provoke anyone; I just want to provoke her."
Sebastian lifted her chin.
"Then you need to be sure you have the ability."
"Alright, I was just kidding."
Isabella suddenly pulled away from his hand, leaned against his chest, and lightly stroked his Adam's apple.
"She's your heart, your soul, your treasure. As for me, I only have a few lives, how can I compete with her? I’m leaving!"
She opened the door, hearing Sebastian's voice from behind, "I'll explain the Turner family's matter to you."
"It doesn't matter, Sebastian. If you can explain the Watson family's matter to me, then it's worth talking."
Outside the door, Kaine watched as the boss’s wife walked away.
Then he turned his head and looked at Mr. Lawrence, who had been standing at the office door, becoming more and more like a statue waiting for his wife.
Everyone had probably gone downstairs, but Mr. Lawrence was still staring foolishly.
Why not chase after her?
Noticing Kaine's gaze, Sebastian looked over and coldly glared.
Kaine quickly shrunk his neck and ran back to the secretary's office, holding onto the files.
Just as he stepped into the office, he heard the sound of the CEO's office door slamming shut.
The force and sound... it made the entire floor tremble.
"Kaine."
Curious secretaries gathered around.
"Mr. Lawrence... got angry again?"
"Yes."
"Who provoked him this time? Was it work-related? Or Mrs. Lawrence?"
Kaine glanced at her.
"If you want to keep working in this secretary's office, do more work and speak less. Understand?"
The little secretary walked away frustrated.
Isabella walked out of the Lawrence Group and got into the car.
"Let's go to the hospital."
"Yes, madam."
She tried hard to adjust her mood, not wanting her grandmother to notice anything.
These rumors spreading like wildfire in New York must not reach her grandmother's ears.
The person who loves her the most in the world is her grandmother. If her grandmother knew about the life she was living now, a life full of transactions, how heartbroken she would be.
The hospital.
Isabella took the elevator to the floor where Mrs. Wallace was admitted and walked towards her room.
Just as she turned a corner and was walking calmly down the hallway, someone suddenly grabbed her hand and dragged her away.
"Ah!"
Isabella screamed.
The shadow, being hooded in a bag last time at the hospital came rushing back to her mind.
"It's me."
Marcus's voice rang in her ears.
"Isabella, I've been waiting here for you for a long time."
Once she saw the person in front of her clearly, Isabella's tense heart finally relaxed.
"Marcus? What are you doing here?"
"I have something to tell you."
"How did you know I would come to the hospital today?"
Marcus didn't hide anything from her.
"I heard that you didn't go to Lawrence Group today and instead stayed home resting. With your personality, I was sure you would come to the hospital to see your grandmother. So..."
"So, you stayed here, waiting for me?"
"Yes."
"What do you want to say?"
Isabella asked.
"You heard all those rumors in New York."
"Isabella," Marcus's eyes showed pain, "I've said it before, Sebastian is not your true love, he married you with a purpose. And now... these things are all coming true one by one."
"Then, I should say you're a jinx. Marcus, we have no relationship anymore, why do you still insist on cursing me?"
"How could I curse you? I want to save you from this sea of suffering and not be deceived by Sebastian anymore."
Isabella laughed.
"Rise up," Isabella said, "The sea of suffering? Marcus, you may never know that this sea of suffering was created by your own Cooper family!"
If the Cooper family had lent her six hundred thousand, she would not have sold herself to Sebastian.
Marcus was confused, "What?"
"Never mind," Isabella looked at him, "Are you done talking? I'm leaving."
"Isabella, why won't you listen to me?"
"My affairs have nothing to do with you. Let go!"
Isabella tried to pry open his fingers, "And don't come looking for me again!"
"I'm doing this for your own good! If Only you would leave Sebastian immediately, you will no longer be manipulated or hurt by him."
"Then tell me, Mr. Cooper, what value does someone like me, who has no power or influence, have against Sebastian?"
Marcus had a serious expression, "That's what I've been pondering over. But it's precisely because I can't figure it out that it shows how terrifying Sebastian is! You need to stay away from him! The farther, the better!"
Seeing his anxious and worried expression, Isabella didn't know what she felt in her heart.
At this point, she had no remaining affection for Marcus.
Yet, he kept coming for her, wanting to help her, wanting her to leave the sea of suffering, but it was too late for him to remedy the situation.
Perhaps this concern... was genuine.
Only Marcus cared about whether she would be happy marrying Sebastian...
"Alright, if I listen to you now," Isabella said, "then tell me, Marcus, how can I leave Sebastian? He has absolute power, his influence is everywhere in New York, what do I have to counter him with?"
