Chapter 370 Brother, Why are you Bringing up Mom?
Thomas walked up to Samuel. "Please come with me. Don't worry; it's just a routine blood donation."
Samuel glanced at Amber, who had already taken off her sunglasses and mask. He hesitated for a moment, then followed Thomas into the room next to the operating room where they were drawing blood. In the hallway, Sebastian, Amber, and Lynda stayed behind.
Amber looked uneasy, and a hint of disgust crossed her face when she saw Lynda. She didn't like her.
Turning her back to Lynda, Amber tugged on Sebastian's sleeve and gave him a meaningful look.
Lowering her voice, she whispered, "Sebastian, I heard you patched things up with Isabella. If that's true, why are you still hanging around with Lynda?"
"Did you two push Isabella into the operating room together?"
"Or did Lynda do something?"
Amber waited for Sebastian's response, her nose twitching. "Sebastian, that woman is going to ruin you."
"Enough, it has nothing to do with her," Sebastian finally said. "Be quiet and stop making a scene."
Amber's eyes darted around, and she shot a glance at Lynda, clearly dissatisfied, muttering softly, "I don't think so."
Sebastian ignored her. He turned to Lynda. "Lynda, you don't need to sacrifice your happiness for this. I'll handle it."
"No," Lynda said, tears making her voice shaky. "Sacrificing for you makes me happy." She forced a smile through her tears. "I feel good now. I love you too much. Without you, I'm like a fish out of water. I would die. But if there's someone who truly cares for me by my side, I might be a bit better off."
"Samuel is the one. We met in college, and he's a good person." Lynda sighed, tears welling up as she looked at Sebastian.
Amber couldn't understand what Lynda was saying. She looked at Lynda, then at Sebastian, still puzzled.
Sebastian's Adam's apple bobbed, a bitter taste in his mouth, a flicker of guilt crossing his mind. But he showed no emotion.
Sebastian said, "Let me know if you regret. Later, I'll set up a foundation in your name, and you can manage it."
"No." Lynda shook her head. "I don't want it."
"Keep it," Sebastian insisted. "You deserve it."
After a brief pause, Sebastian continued, "If you decide to be with Samuel, go for it. The Lawrence family will back you up, and marrying into the Carter family won't be hard. I promised to protect you, and that promise still stands."
Lynda was overjoyed as Sebastian's words made her heart swell with happiness. She knew she had succeeded in making Sebastian believe in her, and he felt a strong sense of guilt towards her.
"Thank you, Sebastian." Lynda smiled in relief. "Ms Wallace will be fine, you and Ms Wallace, and..." She paused. "And the child will surely be the happiest family."
At that moment, Samuel came out with Thomas, who hurried back into the operating room.
Lynda glanced back at Samuel. "Sebastian, I'm leaving now. May you be happy with Ms. Wallace." After her smile, she turned and walked over to Samuel.
Sebastian turned away and stood silently in front of the operating room door, his face tense and expression solemn.
Amber was baffled. She couldn't figure out the relationship between Sebastian and Lynda.
Had they really cut ties? Or was it more complicated than that?
"Sebastian," Amber asked, "you're not usually indecisive. If you've really distanced yourself from Lynda, why set up a foundation for her and back her up?"
Amber's clear, puzzled eyes were filled with confusion and conflict. "This doesn't seem like you. Besides, I don't think Lynda is a good person."
"I've played many roles, and there's a saying, 'retreat for advancement.' I think Lynda's current actions are very much like that."
Sebastian closed his eyes. For once, he showed a hint of weariness in front of Amber.
He sighed, "Amber, do you remember Mom?"
At the mention of their mother, Amber immediately fell silent, her eyelids drooping, her eyes reddening. "Sebastian, why are you bringing up Mom?"
She lowered her head, kicking the corner of the wall repeatedly. "Mom had a heart condition, but that doesn't mean we have to take on the lives of other heart patients. Lynda is not Mom, why should we..."
"What if the Baker family had done us a favor?" Sebastian picked up a cigarette, didn't light it, just rolled it in his hand.
Amber raised her head abruptly. "What do you mean?"
"When Mom had a heart attack before giving birth to me, someone donated organs, which allowed her to survive and for you to exist," Sebastian said.
Amber was only partially aware of these events. She had been pampered by her family and treated like a treasure, and she had never been told anything that might upset her. She only knew that Moore was gone when she was young.
Moore had died from a heart attack, and she didn't know any of the details. She stared at Sebastian in a daze.
"Before Mom passed away, her last words to me were to find the benefactor and take care of the benefactor's family members," Sebastian explained.
"So, is it..." Amber's heart pounded, cautiously and unbelievably asked, "Lynda's family?"
"Yes," Sebastian affirmed. "It's Lynda's mother."
Amber was extremely surprised. She had no idea about this at all! So now, Lynda was actually the benefactor of the Lawrence family? Not only couldn't she dislike her, but she also had to treat her well.
What was going on in this world? Was she dreaming?
"What about Grandpa and Dad? They don't know?" After coming back to her senses, Amber asked, "Why hasn't anyone ever mentioned that? If that's true, Lynda could have married into the Lawrence family long ago?"
Sebastian explained, "Organ donation organizations refuse to reveal the identities of donors. I only found out about it a week or two before marrying Isabella. Besides me, no one else knows this information."
Amber still didn't understand. "If that's the case, you should have married Lynda instead of Isabella."
"Sebastian, although you didn't have a confirmed relationship with Lynda at the time, she was the only woman by your side. Why didn't you marry her after you found out about the organ donation?"
