Chapter 369 Samuel, I'm begging you
Samuel's face went cold. "Lynda, even if you did it on purpose, so what? People who hurt you should pay."
"No, I might've thought about it before, but I've changed." Lynda shook her head, cutting Samuel off and gripping his hand tightly. "Samuel, I need a favor."
Samuel looked at her. "Anything you need."
"Isabella has the same blood type as you, and she's in danger. Come with me to the hospital and save her."
Samuel was puzzled. "Why? She's your rival, the one who hurt you."
Lynda let go of his hand, stood up, and walked over to him. Before Samuel could react, she knelt in front of him. "Samuel, I'm begging you."
Samuel was taken aback. He narrowed his eyes, looking like a sly fox. Though he still wore a smile, his eyes remained cold. "For Sebastian, right? You don't want to hurt him. You still love him."
His voice was icy. "He doesn't love you. You're kneeling for someone who doesn't love you. Have you thought about my feelings?"
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Samuel thought it was the waiter and called for them to come in. At the same time, he stood up, trying to help Lynda.
Lynda stayed on her knees. "Samuel, please, come to the hospital and save her. I'll go to Silvercrest with you, and whatever you want, I'll..."
Before she could finish, a shadow loomed over her. Sebastian grabbed her arm and lifted her.
Lynda looked up. "Sebastian? What are you doing here?"
Sebastian stood in front of Samuel, staring him down. "Samuel, let's make a deal. I can do better than her."
The sarcasm and coldness in Samuel's demeanor vanished, replaced by a sly smile. "Mr. Lawrence, what deal? My blood is precious."
"Whatever I have. Whatever you want." Sebastian's expression was neutral. "Let's go."
"Mrs. Lawrence is so lucky to have you. It's a pity Lynda loved the wrong person." Samuel chuckled, his gaze icy. It was clear he was speaking up for Lynda.
Sebastian remained silent but glanced at Lynda.
She knew Samuel and she was kneeling for Isabella, suggesting going back to Silvercrest with Samuel. Sebastian was moved by her actions, which made him reconsider and believe in Lynda's feelings for him.
"Samuel, Ms. Wallace's in danger. Let's go to the hospital now." Lynda tugged at Samuel's sleeve, her face pleading.
Samuel took a deep breath, shaking his head in frustration. "What a fool." Lynda silently wiped her tears.
"Mr. Lawrence." Samuel looked at Sebastian, smiling. "I can save her, but besides the project you hand over to me, I have one more request."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "Go on." Samuel and Sebastian locked eyes, and Samuel spoke directly. "Divorce Mrs. Lawrence and be with Lynda."
Even Samuel was surprised by his own words. Confronting Sebastian was not a wise choice for him.
Samuel knew himself well as not the self-sacrificing type. After chasing Lynda for so long, was he really going to let her go to be with Sebastian?
Was he that generous? Or did he have another motive?
Samuel pushed down his inner unease, stopped overthinking, and convinced himself that he truly liked Lynda.
Sebastian seemed to be amused by his words. He curved a chilly smile. "Samuel, are you serious?"
"Or," Sebastian smirked, "is the Carter family ready to clash with the Lawrence family?"
The tension in the room skyrocketed.
Samuel's smile froze, slowly fading. "Mr. Lawrence, I'm suprised by your attitude. Aren't you asking for my help? Indeed, the Carter family is smaller and can't withstand such a threat."
"Samuel!" Lynda grabbed his arm. "I've already sorted things out with Sebastian. I know you mean well but it's not necessary. I really want to be with you. Let's save her first, then you can help me move my stuff to your place, okay?"
Anger surged within Samuel, his whole demeanor turning cold.
He sighed, pulled his hand away, and said helplessly, "They're a loving couple. What concern do you have in this? You've sacrificed so much. Who will care about you?"
Lynda bit her lip, forcing a smile. "It's okay." Her humble and innocent appearance made Samuel feel uncomfortable.
He held her hand, looked up at Sebastian, and said, "Mr. Lawrence, you don't care about Lynda, but I do. Lynda is kind, but that doesn't mean you can take advantage of her."
"Although Lynda has a weak body, she sacrificed herself for you. Mr. Lawrence, please be kinder to Lynda in the future and appreciate her more. After all, you and Mrs. Lawrence owe her all this."
Sebastian and Lynda's eyes met. Lynda pursed her lips, shaking her head slightly, indicating it was okay.
Then, she turned her face, leaving a trail of tears on her cheek. Lynda looked so lonely.
Sebastian's brow furrowed. But the situation was urgent, and he needed to save time.
Sebastian hurriedly replied, "I will," and then turned to leave.
During a moment when she wiped her tears, Lynda revealed a subtle smile of satisfaction.
She thought she still had charm. Otherwise, why would Samuel be so loyal to her? Why would he believe in her so unconditionally?
Samuel was a good person, but today's confrontation made her realize that he lacked some qualities.
She wanted to choose the best man, and Samuel was not that man. He was just a stepping stone on her path to becoming Mrs. Lawrence.
At the hospital, the atmosphere remained tense and oppressive, as if the air in the corridor had stopped flowing, making it stifling and uncomfortable.
Amber saw Sebastian return and hurried over, her voice trembling. "Sebastian, I called you; why didn't you answer? Thomas just came out and said Isabella's in critical condition! What do we do now?"
"Mr. Lawrence, you're back." Thomas hurried out of the operating room, getting straight to the point. "May I ask, have you found..."
Sebastian's fingertips were cold as he controlled the tremor in his heart, cutting off Thomas. "Yes."
He lifted his chin, indicating in Samuel's direction, who was following closely.
Thomas immediately understood.
