Chapter 279 Your Birthday
Isabella was somewhat helpless; her IQ compared to Sebastian's was not as high, making it difficult for her to see his true self. But hey, it was also a form of torture to him! Isabella thought about it thoroughly.
The voice above her sounded slightly displeased, "What are you thinking? I asked you a question."
"Ah?" Isabella looked up, and asked, confused, "What?"
Once Sebastian was unhappy, he would definitely have a scowl on his face. To avoid him saying anything hurtful, Isabella quickly took the initiative. She smiled genuinely, "I was lost in thought, thinking about your birthday."
Indeed, Sebastian was struck by her smile, a surge of heat rushing towards a certain place. He suddenly had the thought of pushing someone onto the bed.
Isabella asked sincerely, "I remember your birthday is this Thursday. So, four days later, do you have any wishes?"
After all, in this lifetime...she could only celebrate this one birthday with Sebastian. Whether it was real or false, she wanted to leave behind a beautiful memory.
"No need," Sebastian looked ahead, saying, "I don't celebrate birthdays."
Isabella looked at Sebastian and noticed his cold expression and furrowed brow. It was evident that he was hesitant.
Was it because...of his mother? Isabella instantly thought of this aspect of the relationship. He mentioned it before, and she remembered it firmly.
A sudden wave of heartache came, and Isabella's smile quickly disappeared along with it.
"Sorry," she apologized to Sebastian.
Sebastian stopped in his tracks, rubbed Isabella's hair with his large hand, and asked, "Weren't you just acting high and mighty with me earlier? What happened? Do you feel sorry now?"
At this moment, Sebastian was gentle...making Isabella feel guilty.
Sebastian lifted her chin and saw her expression of concern for him.
Sebastian felt a hint of sweetness and a slight smile appeared on his lips as he placed a kiss on Isabella's forehead.
"I never celebrated my birthday," Sebastian lightly patted Isabella's back, and said, "It's already in the past."
Isabella felt the rhythm of Sebastian's heartbeat, each sound echoing in her eardrums. She couldn't help but hug him back tightly.
"It has nothing to do with you, I am a mother. If I had to choose between myself and our baby, I would choose the baby too," she remarked.
Sebastian was stunned for a moment, and after snapping back to reality, he closed his eyes and tightly held Isabella. This was the only way he could ease the panic in his heart.
"...Ouch... Ouch... It hurts..." Isabella thought she was being a bit melodramatic by crying out over a little pain.
"Well, then let it hurt!" Sebastian's tone was as hoarse as it could get as if the words were being forced out of his teeth.
What's going on... Did he suddenly change his demeanor and get angry?
"Your opinion doesn't matter," Sebastian said, as Isabella heard it. "Isabella, all decisions should be made by me!"
After hearing this, Isabella wanted to laugh and cry at the same time.
She laughed because Sebastian's words sounded like he was choosing her over the child, like in a cheesy romantic drama. It would work for a girl who loves idol dramas.
And she wanted to cry because, even though the words sounded unreliable, they still moved her.
"You have the final say," Isabella nodded like a chicken pecking at millet. "You're the boss in our house, I'll listen to you. If you say east, I certainly won't dare to go west."
Sebastian replied, "Good to know."
Isabella agreed, "Yes, Mr. Lawrence is right."
Sebastian pinched her nose, and teased, "You little slick-talker."
Isabella smiled happily.
Sebastian wrapped his arm around Isabella's waist and continued walking. "I asked you earlier, is your birthday also in these few days?" he asked.
Isabella said, "Ah, yes, it's my birthday."
"Yes... Three days after yours, it is on Monday, right?" Isabella shook her head and said, "But I don't really celebrate much, it's okay, there's nothing special to celebrate."
Sebastian didn't respond. After a while, he spoke again, "With me, there will be something to celebrate."
Isabella's step hung in the air for a few seconds before landing.
Sebastian added, "This time, I'll give you a grand celebration for your birthday, and it's time to announce your identity too."
Isabella's hand suddenly tightened. What did Sebastian mean by this?
"You decide," Isabella couldn't figure out Sebastian's thoughts, so she could only agree.
But her heart remained unsettled for a long time. Someone had thrown a stone into her heart's lake, creating ripples in the calm water.
"Wait," Isabella suddenly spoke up. "My shoelace is loose."
She pushed away Sebastian's hand and tried to bend down to tie her shoelaces.
Unexpectedly, a figure suddenly crouched in front of her. Thin and distinct knuckles, wide and powerful fingers, were moving skillfully. Sebastian was tying her shoelaces.
For a moment, Isabella's heart felt like it was about to fly out of her chest.
Sebastian didn't touch her anywhere, yet she felt embarrassed, losing her balance.
How could there be someone like this in the world, noble and elegant, calm and composed, with overwhelming power and intelligence, all while possessing exceptional acting skills?
Isabella was in agony, with her heart being pulled in two different directions.
One force wanted her to remain calm, while the other force tempted her to indulge.
The shoelaces were perfectly tied, but Isabella felt like she had been tying them for a long time.
Isabella kept her gaze fixed ahead, afraid to look at Sebastian. Coincidentally, as she looked ahead, someone was also looking at her.
In an instant, Isabella's eyes locked with Lynda's. She saw it very clearly, without mistaking it.
Suddenly, it was like a bucket of cold water was poured over her head, and Isabella became even calmer.
Lynda had come to find Sebastian. Unexpectedly, even before entering the company, she witnessed this scene, and her teeth clenched audibly.
Her eyes full of hatred locked onto Isabella. She no longer bothered to hide it and directly showed it to Isabella.
And Isabella could hardly wait to rush over and give her a good slap.
Lynda, a woman who had done so many wrong deeds, relying on her connections to do as she pleased, never went to prison or even apologized!
Compared to Grace, Isabella hated Lynda more.
Their gazes met, neither giving in to the other. Everyone understood this argument.
Isabella was not afraid of her, after all, Sebastian had placed the most effective weapon against Lynda in Isabella's hands.
Isabella lowered her head and focused on Sebastian.
After Sebastian stood up, she voluntarily wrapped her arms around his waist and snuggled into his arms. "Honey, why have you become so good now?" she asked.
Sebastian looked uncomfortable; he had never done something like this before. But now that he did, it didn't seem so repulsive.
He smirked and replied with a spoiled and nonchalant tone, "You're just realizing it now?"
The two of them walked side by side, and up ahead, Lynda's figure was nowhere to be seen.
