Chapter 358 I Can't Do It, Let's Just Forget It
Isabella leaned on the table, her chin resting in her hand, watching Sebastian order food. Every now and then, he'd glance up at her, as if to ask, "Is this okay?"
Samuel felt a knot forming in his chest and cleared his throat.
He couldn't quite put his finger on why he felt uneasy. He just chalked it up to feeling bad for Lynda.
As Samuel started the car and drove off, he said, "I found out Sebastian's private jet is set to take off next week. He’s heading abroad. Maybe..."
He trailed off, realizing he didn't need to say more.
Lynda was taken aback by the news Samuel brought her.
Though she was thrilled, she pretended to be hesitant. "Samuel, I've been thinking, isn't it wrong to target a pregnant woman?"
She looked down, twisting her fingers and biting her lip, looking conflicted. "I can't do it. Maybe... we should just forget it."
Samuel seemed to have expected this.
He steered the wheel with one hand and patted Lynda's hand with the other. "You're always so kind."
"I'm just giving you a heads-up. Sebastian's planning to go abroad for some reason. Do what you want with that info. If you need help, just let me know," Samuel said.
With her head down and hair covering her face, hiding her smile, Lynda replied, "I'll think about it, Samuel. I really don't want to hurt Isabella. The child is innocent." She wiped away her smile, looked pitifully at Samuel, and started to cry.
Samuel gently wiped her tears. "I don't want you to suffer."
"It's okay; now that I have you, I don't care about anything else." Lynda's eyes were filled with shy, elusive emotions.
Lowering her voice, she continued, "Maybe because it's the first time, I seem to..."
Her voice trailed off, her face flushing.
Samuel naturally assumed she meant she had developed feelings for him.
Samuel had been pursuing Lynda for about eight years. Hearing her words, he felt excited and content, with a strong sense of affection for her.
He stopped the car, turned to her, and hugged her tightly, promising, "I will help you get back at those who have mistreated you. Since I'm with you now, I won't let anyone else harm you."
"You're the best!" Lynda nestled in Samuel's arms, trembling with sobs.
But her lips held a smile filled with joy!
Men were just like this, easily swayed by sweet words, willing to shield her from the storm, willing to be ruthless for her, to get rid of Isabella's child, and even Isabella herself.
And Lynda could easily enjoy the victory and win back Sebastian's heart! She would reclaim the position of Mrs. Lawrence at the Lawrence Group!
At Azure Horizon Restaurant.
Isabella and Sebastian sat by the window, and a gust of wind made Isabella sneeze.
Sebastian pulled out a tissue and handed it to her. "Are you catching a cold?"
As he spoke, he reached out to feel her forehead.
Sniffling, Isabella said, "No, I just feel like someone is talking about me."
Sebastian checked her temperature, and his brow relaxed once he confirmed she wasn't feverish.
After a brief pause, he remembered why Isabella had returned. "Why did you come back?"
As the waiter brought dish after dish, Isabella, feeling a bit hungry, kept stuffing food into her mouth.
"What?" With cheeks puffed like a hamster, she asked, "How did you know I came back?"
Isabella swallowed her food, wiped her mouth, and answered hrt question, "When I was leaving, I saw someone watching me from the rooftop. Turns out it was you, Sebastian. Why are you being so sneaky?"
Isabella's eyes sparkled mischievously.
Sebastian's Adam's apple bobbed, locking his deep gaze onto Isabella. "Sneaking around? Me?"
Their eyes met, and Isabella's heart raced. She could never resist Sebastian's deep gaze.
She cleared her throat, took a bite of food, and quickly changed the subject. "Isn't there a prenatal class today? I remembered and came back. I happened to see you coming downstairs, so let's go next week."
Sebastian's movements paused, a flash of guilt in his eyes.
Isabella didn't wait for Sebastian's response and looked up at him.
"Next time, I'll go with you, okay?" Sebastian placed the fish he had deboned onto a small porcelain plate and pushed it in front of Isabella. "You can't eat too much, but a little is okay."
Isabella liked eating fish, but deboning it was too much trouble, so she would rather not eat it.
In her memory, no one had deboned fish for her since she grew up.
The sunlight outside was cut into pieces by the wooden window frames, and one piece happened to fall on the porcelain plate. The milky white fish was illuminated, looking delicate and smooth.
Isabella's eyes stung a bit. It felt so good now; she was loved by someone.
"Okay." She ate the fish, her eyes sparkling like stars.
Sebastian's throat felt dry, a strong desire to devour rising in his heart.
Recalling the way Samuel looked at her earlier, this impulse grew even stronger.
He clenched his fist, thinking about locking Isabella up and hiding her somewhere.
This thought was out of control.
Sebastian cleared his throat, raised his glass, and drank some water to moisten his throat.
Isabella felt her cheeks heat up under Sebastian's longing gaze. She felt innocent; Sebastian's look just now was way too familiar!
What did she do? Why was he looking at her like that?
They were eating, and it was a public place!
Isabella's attraction to Sebastian was that strong.
Isabella ate her donut, thinking, 'Why does this donut taste so sweet?'
It wasn't until Sebastian looked away that she dared to look up at him.
What she saw was his prominent Adam's apple, moving as he drank water.
His broad shoulders, slender neck, and long neck made that prominent Adam's apple look so sexy when he tilted his head back.
Isabella gulped down her food, making a slightly loud noise.
After doing such a silly thing, Isabella didn't realize it until the sound was made. She was dumbfounded.
Seeing Sebastian's teasing eyes, she wished she could find a place to hide.
She nervously smiled. "I choked. Ate too fast."
"Really?" Sebastian leaned back in his chair and tapped the table with his fingertips as if following a pattern.
She was afraid he would tease her if he knew she was drawn to his gesture of drinking water.
Isabella would never admit it, glaring at Sebastian, "Of course!"
"But," Sebastian hinted, "I think my Mrs. Lawrence might have a different opinion."
