Chapter 90 I Love You, Brittany
Joshua smiled and self-deprecatingly said, "Well, Sebastian can join me in being trash."
As soon as Anthony heard that, she glared at him and said, “Don’t call my brother trash!”
"But what he's doing now is indeed trash," Joshua said, "If you don't acknowledge it, then I don't know what else I can do."
"Surely it's you who influenced him!" Anthony pointed at him, "You, who tries to have the best of both worlds..."
“I didn’t force him to marry Isabella.”
"You...you..." Anthony became so furious that she started pounding the table!
Joshua stood up to pour some water and said, "You also didn't treat Isabella sincerely as your sister-in-law, so why are you getting so worked up now?"
“Who said I didn’t?!”
"If you did, then why did you hide the Lynda situation from her? Just like every other Lawrence in your family, you've been deceiving her."
Anthony was speechless.
Yes, she had indeed concealed it and lied to Isabella when she asked.
But she did it for the sake of her brother and Isabella's well-being!
"I... I thought Lynda had gone abroad and completely disappeared. Who would have expected her to come back and stir up trouble again!"
“Why don’t you mention Sebastian then? Anthony, favoritism is not a good trait.”
"I'm not talking to you."
Anthony waved her hand and left.
Joshua watched as she left and whispered to himself, "Goodbye."
He lowered his head and slowly drank his water, unconsciously envisioning Brittany in his mind.
Every smile and frown of hers had already been deeply engraved in his mind, impossible to forget and unwilling to let go.
He wondered in what light she saw Sebastian and Isabella's marriage.
It was rumored that recently... she had been getting close to Isabella.
She, who always detested others playing with emotions and despised men who played with multiple women, unfortunately, most of the men around her were exactly like that.
She must be very disappointed.
"Brittany...I'm not..." Joshua mumbled to himself, even though these words, besides him, no one else could hear.
Sometimes, some things needed to be said. Keeping them buried in one's heart would be incredibly painful.
Placing his water glass down, Joshua was ready to focus on his work.
Sebastian didn't come to the company today, so a significant portion of the workload naturally fell on him.
After hearing all the gossip, Brittany simply smiled faintly without adding any comments.
Marriage, this kind of thing... Only the person involved knows its true nature.
Perhaps in the eyes of most people, Isabella is happy, even if she is just a pawn for Sebastian, she still saved the bankrupt Wallace’s...
Thus they obtained immeasurable wealth...
This is the winner of life.
At noon, Brittany went to the rooftop of the Lawrence Group building.
She looked at the hustle and bustle of the city, the constant ebb and flow of people and cars, but felt nothing, nothing tugged on her heartstrings.
In this vast city, she actually had nothing to rely on.
Brittany stood quietly for a long time, the wind blowing her hair, but she didn't care, until it was almost time to go to work in the afternoon, she turned around to leave.
However, there was a man standing behind her, with a pair of slightly raised peach blossom eyes that had enchanted countless people.
In a well-tailored suit, with long legs, he looked... so distant.
Brittany didn't know when Joshua arrived.
She just glanced at him, allowing whatever thoughts that flashed through her mind in that moment remain hidden, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Brittany hesitated for a moment and then continued walking forward.
"I knew you would come here today," Joshua's voice rang out, "Every time you're in a bad mood, you come here to feel the breeze. It's your habit."
Brittany didn't stop.
"Just say a few words, there's no need to avoid me every time you see me, I'm not a ferocious beast."
The sound of high heels on the ground still echoed.
"Brittany, I don't want to force you. But if you keep ignoring me like this, I'll have to do something about it."
Finally, her footsteps paused, "Joshua, why bother?"
"Yeah, why bother, I just wanted to talk to you, there's no need for you to deny me this request," Joshua replied, turning to face her, "It's just us here, no one else will come."
“It’s precisely because it’s just us that we should be more cautious, Joshua.”
"Can't we even have a chat?"
Brittany looked at him, "There's nothing between us worth chatting about."
"But you stopped walking away from me," Joshua slowly walked towards her, "Isn't that right?"
"That's because you threatened me."
The scenes of him not listening to her at the airport lounge, insisting on taking her into the locked restroom... all left a deep impression on Brittany.
She felt that he had changed, becoming like a madman, often doing things that she couldn't comprehend.
And these were things that the Joshua she had once known would absolutely not do.
"Yeah, I threatened you," Joshua stood in front of her, "Brittany, why are you upset? What’s wrong? Did something happen? Please tell me."
His calm and gentle tone of voice made it hard for Brittany to accept.
She turned her head slightly, her voice still cold, "It has nothing to do with you."
"But... it hurts me, what should I do about that."
"Joshua, you're really kidding."
"Let me guess," Joshua looked at her, "Is it because of Sebastian and Isabella's matter?"
Brittany’s concerns were pinpointed, and a flash of astonishment passed across her face. But just as she tried to hide it, Joshua had already seen clearly through her.
"You've been getting close to Isabella lately," Joshua said, "You rarely maintain this kind of relationship with anyone. Do you consider Isabella as a friend?"
"...It's none of your business."
He sighed, "Brittany, why did you choose her as your friend? She will eventually leave, she will walk away. Why bother investing your friendship and genuine feelings?"
"She won't leave!" Brittany retorted, "She... She is Sebastian's wife, the recognized second lady of the Lawrence family!"
"Are you deceiving yourself?"
Brittany's hand, hanging by her side, slowly clenched and then loosened.
Soon after, she tugged at the corner of her mouth and smiled, "I really don't understand you men. If you don't love someone, why provoke them, hurt them, or get close to them? Is it so easy? Playing with someone's emotions like this must be a fulfilling achievement for men, right?"
"I don't know whether Sebastian loves Isabella or not, but I..."
I love you, Brittany.
It was a love that was sincere and genuine, a love that was etched into the depths of the soul, a love that one would rather drink the River Lethe than forget.
"And you? What about you?" Brittany countered, "You love Nicole, you want to marry her, spend your life with her, even share the same bed and the same tomb!"
Joshua's thin lips pursed slightly, finally nodding with a smile, "Yes, well, isn't that something everyone knows?"
