Chapter 404 Sebastian is Lying to Her

Sebastian unlocked the car from a distance and escorted Isabella to the passenger side. He opened the door and shielded Isabella's head, saying, "No need to guess her thoughts. Let her explain herself."

Isabella let go of Sebastian and sat properly. She nodded, "Indeed. No need."

Despite saying that, Isabella couldn't help but think about it.

The more she thought, the more confused she became. Eventually, she decided not to dwell on it.

She instinctively asked, "By the way, Lynda pulled strings to get Grace out of prison, disrupting the normal judicial order. Would she be sentenced?"

While fastening her seatbelt, Sebastian replied, "We have no evidence. If we get any, it will be handed over to a specialized team for investigation."

Isabella froze instantly, 'Still no evidence? How is that possible?

'It's Samuel.

'The person behind Lynda is Samuel.

'Back then, Samuel helped her. Sebastian must know about the relationship between Samuel and Lynda.

'As long as he investigates, he will definitely find something, and it will lead to Lynda.

'Samuel is from Silvercrest, and in Maple Valley, his influence is nowhere near Sebastian's.

'If Sebastian wants to investigate, he can definitely find out.'

Isabella suddenly realized something, 'What if he doesn't want to?

'What if he found out long ago but didn't say anything?

'It all comes back to the same question.

'Sebastian has the evidence and is protecting Lynda.'

An alarm went off in Isabella's head, warning her, 'Stop! Don't think like that!'

She leaned back in her seat and pretended to doze off, masking her unease.

After fastening Isabella's seatbelt, Sebastian sat in the driver's seat and reversed the car.

The car slowly left the underground garage.

Sebastian turned his head and asked Isabella, "Which restaurant's barbecue do you want to eat?"

Isabella wasn't particularly interested in food. She opened her eyes and replied, "Wait, I'll ask Emily."

As soon as she opened Facebook, her phone went black and shut down.

Isabella slumped her shoulders in frustration.

"Use mine," Sebastian said, glancing at Isabella's dejected look with a hint of amusement. "It's in my pants pocket. Get it yourself."

A phone was very personal, and Facebook was even more private.

Whether she used Sebastian's account to find Emily or logged out of his account to log into hers, she would inevitably see some of Sebastian's chat record.

"Use yours?" Isabella confirmed with Sebastian again.

Sebastian asked, "Is there a problem?"

"Of course not!" Isabella smiled brightly, leaned over, and took out Sebastian's phone.

She was thrilled, her suspicions vanishing completely.

She thought if Sebastian were really deceiving her, he wouldn't let her use his phone.

Isabella found Facebook, logged out of Sebastian's account, and logged into hers.

The login was slow. Just as she finally logged in, it flashed back.

Isabella tried to open the app again, but as Sebastian made a turn, her hand slipped, and she clicked on the app next to Facebook.

Immediately, a series of call records appeared.

Isabella instantly noticed a call from around eleven o'clock.

The caller ID was Security Captain Mario.

Mario was the bodyguard responsible for her safety today.

Isabella's mind buzzed.

How could this be?

Didn't Sebastian just say he hadn't contacted him? He really said that; she remembered it clearly!

She had naively told him that when he returned to Willowbrook Estate, Mario would report to him.

But now, the call record was right there.

Why didn't Sebastian admit it?

Why did he lie to her?

Yes, Sebastian was lying to her.

Isabella had to accept this fact.

Why lie to her? Didn't he promise her not to lie?

Was it just this one lie, or were there many?

What about Grace's words? Should she reconsider them?

Isabella's hands went weak, and the phone slipped from her grasp, landing at her feet with a dull thud.

"What's wrong?" Sebastian glanced over and saw Isabella with her head down, hands still in the position of holding the phone. His phone lay between her feet.

Sebastian looked at the phone screen, which was still lit.

The second call record was the one with Mario around eleven o'clock.

He had forgotten about it.

One lie required countless others to cover it up, and any slip could reveal the truth.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Sebastian's palms were sweaty, but his tone remained steady.

Isabella snapped out of her shock, bent down to pick up the phone, and swallowed bitterly.

She turned slightly and asked softly, "You contacted Mario, why did you say you didn't? Were you too busy and forgot?"

Sebastian looked ahead, "Isabella, there isn't just one Mario in the house."

In other words, Mario wasn't the one who went out with her.

Isabella's heart turned cold.

Why didn't he admit it already? Did he think she was that stupid?

"If you don't believe me, call and ask."

Isabella was smart; love hadn't completely taken over her intelligence.

Sebastian's subordinates might look dull and rough, but they were undeniably sharp.

If Isabella called now, Mario would definitely deny it.

"No need." Isabella shook her head. "I'll ask Emily where the barbecue is good."

At a red light, Sebastian stopped the car.

Isabella's words were casual, but they made him uneasy.

He squinted at Isabella, who was fiddling with the phone with her head down, her hair covering her face, hiding her expression.

Isabella felt a chill down her spine under Sebastian's gaze. She kept her head down and logged into Facebook, mechanically operating the phone.

Finally, she completed all the steps.

Isabella remained stiff and motionless.

Sebastian reached out, brushed Isabella's hair aside, and tucked the strands behind her ear.

He was about to speak when Isabella showed him the phone screen.

"The phone number is linked to Facebook," Isabella was trembling, her face pale as she looked directly at him. "The Facebook profile picture linked to this number is the same as the person who escorted me today."

The calm on Sebastian's face finally disappeared.

The car was enveloped in silence.

With just a small breakthrough, everything became clear.

Isabella couldn't even muster a bitter smile. She felt as if she had been thrown from the sky, shattered into pieces.
