Nicole saw the bloodthirsty look in his eyes and took a few steps back, breathing heavily and coughing violently.
"For Brittany, would you really do anything?"
"Yes!"
"Then why did you pursue me in the beginning? Why did you promise to take responsibility and marry me?" Nicole couldn't hold back her tears. "You should've focused all your energy on seeking Brittany's forgiveness!"
Joshua let out a cold laugh, "Didn't you like me a lot? I just granted your wish."
Suddenly she stared at him intently, "So, you’ve been using...my feelings for you?"
"You used me too, didn't you? Nicole, I've said it before, don't think I'm oblivious to the dirty deeds you've done!"
"You...you really know everything?"
Joshua countered, "What do you think?"
As she cried, Nicole suddenly laughed, "I’m such a fool; I’m such an idiot! I thought that drugging your drink and getting into your bed was the smartest thing I ever did... but you knew all along..."
She never wanted to believe it, even though Joshua had hinted subtly that he knew.
But how could he see through her if everything seemed so natural, and she was so careful?
"How could it be possible?"
"I turned the tables— understand?"
"You weren't drunk then, were you?!" Nicole glared at him. "You were pretending! You did it on purpose!"
"So, what if I did?"
"You... you're confessing now? You’re really telling me everything? Aren't you afraid?"
"What should I fear? That you'll tell everyone how you drugged me and got into my bed, so you could seduce your cousin's boyfriend?"
Nicole froze.
She thought she had outsmarted Joshua, not realizing that from the start, Joshua was using her as a pawn in his game.

His tone was filled with disgust, "I really don't know how Brittany could have a cousin like you!"
"Brittany, yes, Brittany!" Nicole suddenly remembered something and stared at him intensely. "If you knew that you hadn't wronged her and hadn’t cheated, why would you let her see us together, asleep in the hotel?"
"That's not for you to know."
"No, no, there’s something fishy here! You could have exposed my plan right there, smashed the drink, and stormed out of the hotel in anger. You could have ruined my reputation and left me to be laughed at and criticized, but you didn’t..."
