Chapter 231 You, the Turner Family, Have Lost
However, as soon as Isabella stood up, Sebastian pulled her back down.
Isabella found herself sitting next to Sebastian again.
"Sebastian, I'm not that kind of person; I..."
Sebastian's left hand circled around her waist. His eyes were still on the documents, and his right hand was signing them elegantly, "When I'm working, I don't want to hear people talking in my ear. Otherwise, it affects my efficiency."
He seemed so calm, as if he were immersed in his work, but the hand holding Isabella's waist was gripping her tightly.
Isabella, enduring the increasing pain, sat silently and restlessly beside him.
The drama next door was still ongoing...
Marcus was completely shocked, "What did you say?"
In his eyes, there was worry, concern, shock, and an uncontainable joy.
He was in a hurry to get out of bed to ask Grace what was going on.
"Sit down!" Mr. Cooper's voice was stern, pressing on his shoulder and pushing him back onto the bed, "How could I have such a foolish son? You've really lost your mind!"
Mrs. Cooper was trembling with rage. There was no longer the dignity of a high-society lady on her face; she looked no different from an ordinary country woman.
With nowhere to vent, she knelt on the ground, grabbed Grace's hair, and was about to tear her mouth.
"You wretched woman; I'll tear your mouth apart! What nonsense are you spouting?!"
"Do you want to ruin our family? What good does it do you to ruin us? Tell me!"
Grace was no longer afraid; she looked at the bewildered Marcus, "Marcus, save me; I'm your benefactor."
"Go to Isabella; she will definitely let me go. She doesn't need to take revenge for you, and she won't have to be with Sebastian, then, she will come back to you."
However, before she could get an answer from Marcus, her mouth was covered.
Then she was lifted up, and her hands were tied behind her.
Grace turned her head to see who was behind her, and it turned out to be a bodyguard.
"Take her to the police station." Mr. Cooper ordered loudly.
Grace had never been treated this way before.
In the past, when people from the Cooper Family saw her, they would act humbly to please her; they were a bunch of power-hungry opportunists.
Grace bit the bodyguard's palm hard.
When the bodyguard couldn't stand the pain and withdrew his hand, she raised her head. There was anger in her eyes as she looked at Mr. Cooper, "How dare you?! My father is Edwin Turner!"
"Little girl, at this point, don't you find what you’re doing ridiculous?" Mr. Cooper looked triumphant and laughed mockingly, "The Turner family has lost."
Grace could only look at Marcus for help, "Marcus, save me; I'm doing this all for you."
Marcus was not as agitated as before. He had regained his calm and turned his face away from Grace, "No matter what, you want to harm Isabella. How could harming her be for my good?"
Mr. Cooper crossed his arms and coldly huffed, "Your father really raised you into a spoiled, brainless young lady. You're a fool; do you think everyone else is a fool too?"
With that, he waved his hand, "Take her to the police station, report her for hiring those hitmen!"
Grace didn't expect that her brilliant plan would end up like this. Not only did the Cooper Family not let her off the hook, but it also accelerated her arrest.
She thought that begging Marcus would help, but now it seemed that she was the foolish one.
The one who called the shots in the Cooper Family was Mr. Cooper, Marcus had no say at all!
Not everyone was like Sebastian, who had control over the massive Lawrence Group Corporation. He was wealthy enough to rival a country and had the power to call the shots.
But what infuriated her most was Isabella’s very existence.
What kind of magic did Isabella have to be able to lure Marcus to the point where he was now completely devoted to her?
Grace knew she was wrong; she was terribly wrong. She shouldn't have been so presumptuous; she should have humbled herself and pleaded with the Cooper Family.
It was not too late, it was not... it was definitely not too late.
"Uncle, aunt," Grace changed her tone and lowered her posture.
Her eyes were brimming with tears, "I know I was wrong; I won't dare to do it again, please spare me, please! I beg for mercy."
"I'm only twenty-five. If I go to jail, my life will be over."
"Hmph," Mrs. Cooper said, "My son is only a year older than you; he almost didn't wake up. Spare you? Impossible!"
Mrs. Cooper adjusted the thin shawl on her shoulders, tucked the loose hair beside her forehead behind her ears, regained the elegance of a high-society lady, lifted her chin, and closed the door of the ward, leaving Grace outside.
When had Grace ever been so humiliated?
She had tear stains on her face and saliva from Mrs. Cooper on her hair; she had nowhere to vent the hatred in her heart.
She was led away like a prisoner.
Her eyes were bloodshot.
Suddenly, she turned her head towards Marcus' ward, "Marcus, Isabella likes you, loves you! She's been locked up by Sebastian; it's not that she doesn't want to see you, she can't."
"She doesn't not love you; she loves you to death. You remember how she acted when you were in danger, right? Her heart will always be with you. You must not fail her intentions; you must save Isabella from Sebastian."
The more Grace spoke, the more sarcastic she became.
Soon, someone firmly covered her mouth.
Unable to speak, she started to laugh. She laughed hysterically; her grotesque laughter couldn't be muffled.
Wasn't the Cooper Family humiliating her?
Wasn't Isabella being ruthless?
If they wouldn't let her go, then she would drag them down with her.
Sebastian wouldn't be able to bear the ambiguous relationship between Marcus and Isabella; she believed it would end their marriage.
The laughter gradually faded, and the hospital corridor returned to silence.
Was it finally over?
Isabella turned her face, "Sebastian..."
Sebastian said lightly, "Perhaps it's not over yet."
Isabella opened her mouth, but the flash of ruthlessness on Sebastian's face scared her.
She clenched her fists and closed her mouth.
The door to Marcus' ward was closed, blocking any sound. Isabella could no longer hear anything else.
However, she couldn't calm down; she had made a grave mistake. She should have dealt with Grace back at Willowbrook Estate; that way, she wouldn't have caused more trouble.
In the ward next door, Marcus' heart was also in turmoil.
Grace's words were echoing in his ears.
Isabella still had feelings for him, right? Her previous denial seemed so fragile in the face of danger.
She was with him; they faced a life and death scenario together.
Was all of this Sebastian's doing?
"Dad!" Marcus' face turned red, and his eyes were burning bright, as if he had suddenly found his backbone.
He grabbed Mr. Cooper's arm, "You have to help Isabella."
Mr. Cooper shook his head in disappointment, heartlessly shook off his hand, and didn't stay for an extra second.
"Dad, in what way has Isabella wronged our family for you to be so merciless? You've watched her grow up after all."
