Chapter 269 I Confessed to You, and You Were So Happy
Who doesn't fantasize about that special someone confessing their love? She felt weak, but the temptation was too strong.
Oh, Sebastian must be a sly fox!
Isabella sat on the sofa with her fists clenched and palms sweaty. She was deeply lost in chaotic thoughts.
A message notification buzzed from the cell phone on the coffee table. Without thinking, her eyes quickly glanced over.
It was... a message from Lynda?
Isabella suddenly realized that it was Sebastian's smartphone. She didn't have any intention of snooping through someone's privacy, but just a glance to the side allowed her to see the lit-up notification on the screen.
"Sebastian, don't worry about me, don't get too busy for my sake, I'm fine, important matters come first..." The rest of the message was cut off by the notification bar, and Isabella couldn't see more.
But those few words were enough to douse Isabella with a bucket of ice water. So... It seems like Sebastian's confession to her was also about Lynda.
She abruptly rose to her feet, standing up and quickly walking to the bookcase as if escaping, pretending she had seen nothing.
She stared at the figurines, photo albums, and books in the bookcase, motionless.
After spacing out for a while, Isabella suddenly smiled, trying to open her eyes wider, and taking deep breaths.
What was this all about? What did she have that was worth these two scheming against her? Were they strategizing against her alone?
She felt as though she was being drained.
Isabella felt the shame akin to being stripped naked in public, on top of receiving two hard slaps across the face.
This time, the pain was more intense than any of Sebastian's past sarcastic comments, humiliations, or even slaps.
Sebastian's confession sparked a glimmer of hope, unsettling her calm, and fostering a sense of trust.
How wicked of him! Why was Sebastian so mean?
Her heart felt like it was being stabbed, she didn't ask for any kindness from him, she knew he reserved his gentleness and care for Lynda, she didn't demand it!
Just one thing, not to deceive her, that would have been enough, to get through the pregnancy peacefully.
Why couldn't Sebastian fulfill even this small request?
Isabella pinched the palm of her hand hard, biting the tip of her lips, her mouth faintly tasting of iron.
After a while, Isabella took a deep breath and scoffed coldly in her mind. She really wasn't that easy to bully. Sebastian broke the rules first, did he expect her not to strike back?
Was it all just an act? Well, she would put on a show for him to watch!
*Click* The bathroom door behind her suddenly opened.
Isabella casually picked up a photo album, pretending to browse through it.
She looked at the photos, but they didn't register in her mind. She was hiding something and was distracted.
"What are you looking at?" Sebastian came over and hugged Isabella from behind.
At such an embrace, Isabella's arms stiffened, and she returned to the present, "Just an album."
Sebastian's chest pressed against her back, hot and intense. But her heart had cooled down, and it wouldn't warm up again.
Isabella no longer felt the strong sense of love. She turned around and pushed him away.
Sebastian was unmistakably annoyed. He frowned, crossed his arms, huffed, and said coldly, "You are not allowed to refuse me."
Isabella felt her anger boiling up, but she held it in. Curving her mouth into a half-smile, she randomly pointed at a photograph and turned to ask Sebastian, "Who's this?"
Sebastian followed Isabella's pointing finger and glanced at the photo. He cleared his throat and said vaguely, "That's the Lawrence kids as babies. They all look the same, who knows which one it is?"
Realizing something was off with Sebastian, Isabella gave him a quick look and then refocused on the photo album.
She had unwittingly selected a baby photo?
"There's nothing to see," Sebastian said, releasing her and snatching the album away. "Look at something else."
"Oh, I get it." Isabella blinked. "It's you, wasn’t it?"
Sebastian cleared his throat again, his ears tinted red as he firmly denied, "...No."
Isabella had already figured out the truth; it was surely Sebastian.
She felt embarrassed just looking at her naked baby photos, and for Sebastian, having his bare pictures seen by her would have been especially embarrassing!
This was exactly the sort of discomfort she wanted to inflict on Sebastian.
"If it's not you, then let me have a look," said Isabella, reaching to snatch it back.
Sebastian lifted the album high, "This is Jarod Lawrence's album, Isabella. Do you think I'm invisible?"
"They're just kids; what's the big deal?" Isabella raised an eyebrow. "Otherwise, show me yours."
Sebastian increased the distance between them, still holding the album high with caution, "Am I someone who lets people take pictures of me just like that? Isabella, behave yourself. You can only see my body, the current me."
"See, you slipped up! That means the album is yours, from when you were a kid! Naked!" Isabella lunged forward, stood on tiptoe, and stretched her arms out like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey.
Sebastian started coughing, "Nonsense, Isabella." His stature might have been less imposing, but he held the album even higher.
Anyway, he couldn't let Isabella see.
Otherwise, after she had seen those baby photos, how would she react when seeing his abs or chest again? Would the thrill and blushing sensation just disappear?
Isabella, determined to ignore him, kicked off her slippers and, with boldness, began to climb onto Sebastian, using her hands and feet.
After all, he had been mean, he had bullied and outsmarted her!
Now, she was going to exploit every factor that could make him feel uncomfortable. She would embarrass him to the core!
Isabella was so stirred up by the fervent flame burning in her chest that she was completely unaware of her inappropriate posture.
Sebastian, a typical man, reveled in the woman he liked, rubbing against him with her legs wrapped around his waist and one arm around his neck, hanging on him like a koala.
He couldn't keep his composure.
He looked down at Isabella, his gaze intense and predatory, his Adam's apple bobbing. Sebastian tossed an album into the bookcase and slapped Isabella's waist to get her attention.
Startled by her excitement, Isabella shuddered, her clear, watery eyes blinking rapidly, and her face turned red, realizing that she had gone too far.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry..." Isabella stuttered out an apology, her words tripping over each other.
‘Pull yourself together, Isabella!’ she chided herself,
She cleared her throat as if she had been scalded and quickly loosened her grip on Sebastian's neck and waist.
But just as Isabella's feet touched the ground, suddenly, Sebastian swept her off her feet and strode towards the bed.
Dangerously, he instructed, "Hold on to me."
Startled, Isabella's hands, which had just released him from her embrace, clung to Sebastian's neck again.
Then, before she could react, she found herself on the bed.
Quickly, Sebastian kneeled with one leg between hers, one hand bracing the bed while the other gripped her chin with a roguish smile, "I didn't realize Mrs. Lawrence was so forward."
"I can tell by your confession you're happy... and actually, I'm in a pretty good mood myself," Sebastian said, his deep eyes like the vast sea, his seductive words spilling from between his lips.
