Chapter 151 He's in the Land of Gentleness, and You're Getting Drunk

Now... Could she really be pregnant?

Isabella wasn't surprised by this since she had been keeping an eye on such developments. When her appetite increased before, she had thought about it.

After sitting quietly for a while, feeling more comfortable, she reluctantly stood up and returned to the bedroom.

Lying on the bed, she took the calendar from the cabinet and looked at the date circled from the previous month...

Her period was delayed by a week.

Isabella clenched her teeth.

Maybe she really was pregnant, but... before she could be completely certain, she decided not to tell Sebastian.

As she was about to put the calendar back, her phone rang.

She looked and saw it was Brittany calling.

"Isabella, are you free?" Brittany said, "Come to my house."

Without asking any further questions, Isabella immediately agreed, "Okay."

She went downstairs and started walking outside, but the butler stopped her, looking hesitant.

"Madam, it's late... You..."

"I'm going out."

The butler appeared troubled, "But..."

"But what? Did Sebastian forbid me from going out?"

"He didn't, Madam. Mr. Lawrence never explicitly said so," the butler replied honestly, "It's just that it's late now, and you're going out alone... You have a distinguished status, if something goes wrong..."

"I'm going to Brittany's house," Isabella answered, "Is that not allowed?"

"Madam, I'll prepare a car for you right away."

"No need, just give me the keys. I'll drive myself."

With Isabella's insistence, the butler reluctantly handed her the car keys and immediately arranged for a bodyguard to secretly protect her.

Isabella drove off, and as soon as she arrived at the neighborhood where Brittany lived, she saw a familiar figure by the roadside.

She took a closer look, and it was Brittany?

Isabella stopped the car and rolled down the window, "What are you doing..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Brittany had already walked around the front of the car and sat in the passenger seat, "I've been waiting for you here."

"Waiting for me?"

"Yeah, let's go. I'll show you the way."
Brittany fastened her seatbelt, "We're going to a good place."

Isabella asked, "Where... are we going?"

"I said we were going to drink together, remember?"

Brittany said, "Don't you remember?"

Isabella had stood Brittany up last time, and she didn't want to refuse this time, especially since she had a feeling; she might be pregnant.

But she nodded, "Okay."

Guided by Brittany, the two of them arrived at an inconspicuous bar.

Unlike the upscale lounges Brittany had frequented before, this place was a true mix of people.

The comings and goings were either young girls or tough guys with tattoos on their arms.

Isabella stood at the entrance, "Brittany, are you sure... we're here to drink?"

"We're here to drink and have fun," Brittany said without hesitation.

"Child, it's all inside."

"But..."

Isabella couldn't say it directly. The Wallace family had strict rules, and this was her first time in a place like this.

Brittany sighed, "I know what you're thinking. If there were better options, I wouldn't have brought you here."

"New York has many bars..."

"But we can't go there," Brittany replied.

"Joshua has taken care of it."

Isabella was puzzled, "Taken care of it?"

"Last time, I ran into him at a regular bar I use to frequent. Afterwards, he used his connections to notify all the major bars in New York to ban me. They won't even let me in the door."

"He really is controlling..."

"Yeah. But the higher the walls, the more mischievous one becomes. Did he think I wouldn't find anywhere else?"

Isabella looked at the few hooligans smoking at the entrance and swallowed, "Drinking is fine. But I'm afraid something might happen..."

"Don't worry."

Brittany held her hand and led her inside.

"Sebastian must have arranged bodyguards by your side. If anything happens, they will protect you."

Isabella hesitated.

Wouldn't she be running into danger?

Brittany smiled, realizing what she was thinking, "Isn't he not at home tonight? What are you afraid of? He's off in his own world of tenderness, and you can get drunk on your own. No one will disturb anyone."

Isabella didn't know how to respond to Brittany. She couldn't drink now.

But looking at the melancholy expression on Brittany's face, she thought, she would sacrifice herself to keep the woman company.

Sebastian was busy indulging with Lynda right now, so he had no time to worry about her.

With that thought in mind, Isabella waved her hand, "Let's go in!"

As they pushed open the door, the deafening DJ music filled their ears, and it felt like their chests were vibrating along with it.

Brittany reserved a booth and ordered a dozen beers. The waiter glanced at them but didn't say anything.

Isabella looked at the center of the dance floor, where men and women were swaying to the music, and she unconsciously began to nod and sway along.

Somehow, her mood improved quite a bit.

The waiter quickly brought the drinks over. Brittany picked up a bottle and poured a glass for Isabella, saying, "Cheers. We won't go home tonight unless we're drunk."

Isabella held the glass but didn't drink. She just asked, "What's bothering you?"

"Nothin'," Brittany shrugged. "Haven't we always been meeting up for drinks?"

Isabella persisted, "Is it because Joshua forbids you from drinking, so you purposely defy him?"

"He's irrelevant," Brittany chuckled and lifted her glass. "Let's not talk about men."

She clinked glasses with Isabella and downed it in one gulp.

Isabella took a glance and put the glass down.

Brittany didn't pay much attention to these details, resting her cheek on her hand as she looked around at the people on the dance floor.

"Isabella, don't you feel, coming home at night after work, being alone in a quiet and empty house, as if the whole world had abandoned you? It's so much better here, lively and bustling."

"Are you missing him?"

"I said, no talking about men."

Brittany poured herself another glass of wine. "Drink. In all of New York, you're my only friend... it's just you."

In the garden mansion.

Lynda was half-lying on the bed, her lips slightly pale, gently pressing her hand against her chest.

"Did you take your medicine?" Sebastian stood by the bedside and asked, "Why did you have another attack?"

"I did. I'm fine, Sebastian. Just need some rest."

"You told me the doctor said you were recovering well. How do you explain this situation then?"

Lynda looked up at him, reaching out to grab his sleeve. "Sebastian, are you blaming me?"

"Yes." Sebastian nodded. "Why don't you take care of your own body?"

"The doctor did tell me that. But you know, my illness... it's not curable."

Lynda replied. "I've been fine for a while now, haven't had an attack in months. This is the first time in two months."

She spoke pitifully, appearing fragile, and Sebastian pursed his lips without saying anything more.

He sat down by the bed, picked up a glass of water, and held the spoon to feed her a few sips.

Lynda continued to gaze at him.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Sebastian asked. "Just focus on getting better."
