Chapter 239 Proving My Innocence with Death

Lynda shoved Sebastian away and burst into tears under the blankets. "I didn't do anything, and I won't apologize!"

Deeply furrowing his eyebrow, Sebastian said, "I had someone look up Grace's phone records first. You two were in communication following the event at the Turner residence. Moreover, "on the same boat" appears more than half the time in her texts to you."

"Second of all, the doctor told me that your 'illness' wasn't serious enough for you to faint."

"Third of all, when I confronted you a few days ago, you acknowledged that you were the mastermind behind the entire situation. It wouldn't make sense that you had no relation to the hitman employment."

Lynda was furious with annoyance. Why, in the first place, did she even conspire with Grace?

She'd already lost so much. This was the second time Sebastian had questioned her; before today, he had never done so with such icy justification.

She couldn't acknowledge it. She absolutely wouldn't!

Lynda sat up and began sobbing, "But it has nothing to do with me. Grace came to me wanting to get even with Isabella. I agreed because I was envious of how affectionate you were with her."

"However, my purpose was only to let you see that Isabella was unclear about her other relationships, and to prove that I'm the only one who truly loves you. That was my only reason."

Lynda cried at first, covering her face. She said, "I can't even kill a chicken, Sebastian. How could I harm anyone?" as she held her hands out, palms facing Sebastian.

"She's the one that framed me; it was her! I should've seen that she was more jealous of me than she was of Isabella. This was her plan; to kill two birds with one stone!"

As Lynda saw Sebastian's detached, heartless expression, she began to feel hopeless.

Nothing like this would've separated them before Isabella entered the picture!

'Is what's happening really as I suspected? Has Isabella won Sebastian over? However, if he really fell for her, he would've made it clear by now. Or is it that he's not even aware it? Indeed, that must be it! Isabella needs to die!' Lynda pondered in her mind.

Though her heart sank, a wave of relief also passed through her. Sebastian didn't yet know how he felt, and she was grateful for that.

She clenched her teeth and snatched the fruit knife from the table, aiming it at her chest. "Since you don't believe me, then what's the point of living anymore?"

"Have you gone insane? Put that down!" he angrily grabbed her wrist as his composure evaporated.

"Sebastian, there's nothing else I can do. I can only establish my innocence in this way. Despite all I've said, you don't seem to care."
"Do you think harming yourself will change anything?" he retorted.

She replied, "I don't want this either, but you suspect me over something I can't clarify, I'll just prove my innocence with my death!"

She pressed the knife harder against her throat as she said that.

She didn't appear to be bluffing this time.

"Lynda!" Sebastian yanked the knife forcefully, throwing it to the ground. "What do you think you're doing?"

The knife clattered on the ground.

The hospital room was quiet after that. After a while passed, Lynda's choked sobs filled the room.

"No one cares about me; I'm just an orphan. if even you no longer believe in me and don't care anymore, then my life is..."

"Enough!" With a bob of his Adam's apple, Sebastian snapped.

Either out of love for Lynda or a deep-seated dedication he'd never spoken of, he couldn't be harsh with her.

She was his limit.

He had also been aloof, which made her uneasy.

Although she'd pretended to faint, it doesn't mean she has actually recovered. Any further mishaps would be disastrous.

At this point, an apology was unnecessary. He had other methods to make it up to Isabella.

Sebastian responded, "Let's not bring this up again. You don't have to apologize, but please stop plotting against Isabella in the future. She hasn't done anything."

Lynda scoffed inside and pushed her hand.

'That's impossible! Isabella has taken Mrs. Lawrence's position; her wealth and splendor, as well as the man she spent years chasing after!' Lynda thought in her heart.

Despite that, she obediently nodded and jumped off the bed. Barefoot, she snuggled into his arms

She was undoubtedly a wise woman who knew better than to fight at this moment. Like a hot potato, she tossed off the thought of apologizing.

With an almost enticing voice, she clutched to him and said, "Sebastian, I love you the most, and you love me the most as well. Let's not fight anymore, alright?"

"You've got a lot planned for me, so I shouldn't cause trouble. I promise to wait patiently until Isabella gives birth to our child. Then, let's all three lead happy, simple lives together, okay?"

When Lynda said "let's all three", Sebastian's imagination instantly saw himself, Isabella, and a little kid creating their own little family.

It took a time for his fisted hands to loosen up, hanging limp at his sides.

His eyes flickered with perplexity.

Although Lynda's statements appeared to be well-crafted, he sensed something wasn't quite right.

Where did it disconnect? Sebastian was unable to identify it.

He was certain, though, that Isabella carrying their child would be a significant occasion.

He had meticulously arranged everything, hoping to protect Lynda from the dangers of pregnancy and produce a kid with exceptional genetics.

By logic, he would've informed Lynda about Isabella's pregnancy.

However, he didn't.

He didn't share it with anyone.

"Sebastian, what's on your mind?" Lynda glanced up and saw his brief expression, making her mind buzz with realization.

It was, in fact, exactly what she had suspected—a case of love that the holder was unaware of.

Lynda spoke softly and walked carefully. "Did I say something wrong?"

In a matter of seconds, Sebastian's expression cleared as he replied deeply, "No."

"You're the best thing I've ever had, Sebastian. To have met you, I must've rescued the galaxy in my previous life."

Sebastian looked at Lynda's dazzling smile, frowning.

More as a gesture rather than comfort, he patted her back and gently pushed her away while saying, "Get some rest. Don't try overthink, and stop trying to trick me."

"You're leaving?" Lynda had a sorrowful tone to her speech.

"Yes." Sebastian said with a nod, "I have matters at the office."

Lynda's voice faltered, "However, it's almost dinner. It's been ages since we had a meal together."

Whimpering and shaking a little, she took his hand and said, "I've recovered slightly, so let's go home and eat together."

Sebastian withdrew his hand impulsively.

"Sebastian, you..."
