Chapter 419 Got a Problem with That?
Time flew by, and soon enough, the streets were empty.
Under the big ol' night sky, there was just a car, a dude, and a cigarette. All alone.
Around 1 AM, Sebastian stepped out of the car.
After getting rid of the smoke smell, he slipped into the hotel and quietly made his way to Isabella's room.
He gently pushed the door open and saw Isabella curled up, looking all vulnerable.
Sebastian shrugged off his coat, moved softly, lay down next to Isabella, and gently pulled her into his arms.
The emptiness in his heart vanished instantly.
Sebastian's Adam's apple bobbed up and down. He gently patted Isabella's back, super tender.
After a bit, Sebastian whispered in her ear, "I'm sorry, it was my bad. I've paid back everything I owed her. Now, the only one I owe is you. I'll spend my whole life making it up to you, okay? Besides Amber, you're the only woman I've been related to. Please understand, I miss you so much."
His voice was low and gentle.
Isabella's breathing was steady.
Sebastian gently kissed her lips, then moved up to kiss her nose, her brow, and finally her nose bridge.
In the night, Isabella had nightmares, but later, she seemed to find a warm embrace.
A beam of light cut through the dark nightmare, sunlight kissed her face, so tender it brought joy.
Sebastian kissed her furrowed brow, smiled softly, and closed his eyes.
Not daring to stay too long, Sebastian woke up three hours later.
After erasing all traces of his presence, it was nearly 5 AM.
He planted a deep kiss on Isabella's forehead and left her room.
Little did he know, as soon as he left, the person on the bed opened her eyes.
Isabella sat up, her eyes warm and misty.
She sniffed, tilted her head back, and blinked repeatedly.
Once she regained her composure, Isabella muttered softly, "Bastard! Liar!"
He promised she wouldn't see him, so why did he come?
Did he think she slept so deeply? With someone lying next to her, she wouldn't wake up?
She had woken up long ago!
Everything Sebastian said, did, and those kisses, Isabella knew it all.
Isabella clutched the bedsheet, angrily punched the bed.
Bastard! Big bastard!
If she had a baby and it turned out like Sebastian, she would definitely kick him down.
Isabella sighed heavily and lay back on the bed, exhausted.
Her heart didn't hurt as much as before.
Carrying all the pain and suffering alone might be unbearable.
Having someone to share some of it, or to suffer together, might lessen the burden, making it less suffocating.
Sebastian must have been feeling as miserable as she was, right?
But didn't he deserve it?
Isabella pulled the blanket over her head, not wanting to think anymore, and tried to sleep.
The blanket was filled with Sebastian's scent, constantly enveloping Isabella, inescapable.
Unable to sleep, Isabella picked up her phone.
On Facebook, Amber had messaged her, asking why she and Sebastian hadn't returned to the Lawrence House.
She also asked why neither of them was answering their phones, wondering if something had happened.
The messages came in around nine last night. Later, Sebastian must've texted her, 'cause Amber told her to have fun with him.
Without checking with Sebastian, Isabella didn't know what to say, so she just shot back an "okay."
Amber was good to her, so Isabella shouldn't have made her worry about her issues with Sebastian. Plus, Amber's job was risky these days, and she couldn't afford to be distracted.
After some tossing and turning, Isabella, sporting some serious dark circles, finally left the room.
Brittany had already bounced to the company since the design department had a project to rush, turning the weekend into a workday.
Isabella quickly got herself together and planned to visit the nursing home to see Janet.
To face Janet, Isabella had to stay sharp.
In front of the mirror, she patted her cheeks, making sure she looked normal, then grabbed a small bag and headed out.
Maybe it was fate, but right at the entrance of the nursing home, she bumped into Lynda.
Lynda was heading out while she was heading in.
A few steps apart, they locked eyes.
Isabella froze, her blood boiling, holding her breath, the smile on her face vanishing, her gaze turning icy.
She clenched her fists tight, a voice in her head screaming to take down this wicked woman.
Lynda's eyes flicked to Isabella's belly, her smile faltering.
But soon, she plastered on a sweet smile, her expression all fake-friendly. "Isabella, when did you wake up? How lucky."
Isabella slapped her as hard as she could.
Lynda clutched her cheek, eyes wide with anger. "You hit me!"
Isabella grabbed her hair. "Yeah, got a problem with that?"
Footsteps echoed from a distance.
After all, it was a nursing home. If Janet knew she got into a fight, she'd definitely worry.
"Isabella!" Lynda gritted her teeth, her cheekbones high. "How dare you hit me!"
"I dare, very much so," Isabella let go of Lynda's hair, her gaze sharp, smiling, "You should be grateful this is a nursing home. Otherwise, do you think one slap would be enough?"
Isabella never expected that her words would come with such a huge price.
"Move." Isabella said coldly.
Lynda, pissed at Isabella's arrogance, was about to snap but then smiled, lowering her voice, "Do you really think you're special? You hit me, do you think Sebastian will help you?"
Since knowing Sebastian let Lynda go, Isabella knew that one day, Lynda would rub it in her face.
That day came so fast.
"So what if you're Sebastian's wife?" Lynda toyed with the ring on her finger. "It doesn't matter."
Suddenly, Lynda covered her mouth, pretending to be shocked. "Isabella, you don't know anything, do you?"
"Oh, right, you do know." Lynda said, "I had someone tell you. See, at least I didn't let you be deceived. I'm not that bad, am I?"
Isabella stared at Lynda, her eyes bloodshot.
She held her breath, almost choking, barely able to breathe.
She must make her pay!
Isabella gathered her strength, breathing slowly and deeply, trying to calm her anger.
Lynda glanced at Isabella's clenched fists, veins bulging, smiled disdainfully, and shrugged. "All you can do is hit my face. What else can you do? Every time it's the same. Can't you come up with something new?"
